Chapter 43: Chapter 43
Chapter 43 Not again
MAIA'S POV
Thankfully, the next two days were off. I had no reason to go outside from my room. Even though I planned on staying inside the room so that I would not see that pervert's face.
When I went to town yesterday, I bought some snacks and food to keep in the room.
I started my morning with a cup of coffee and crocheted a bralette for a customer. I received ten orders this week, five bralettes, two bean caps, and three cover-ups. I was listening to my favorite music on my phone when I heard a knock on the door. Without moving out from the bed, I sniffed the scent to recognize my visitor. When I smelled that same nasty Scent of that pervert, I did not move an inch. I had no time to entertain him, so I resumed crocheting the bralette.
"I know you are awake, Maia. Nana is calling you down for breakfast," he informed me and then he left.
I kept waiting until the sound of his footsteps vanished.
I let out a sigh and put the unfinished bralette on my bedside table. I was about to leave my room when I realized that I was still wearing my pyjamas. On any normal day, I would go down wearing my pyjamas with no care at all, but now, because of that pervert, I need to change into something else.
After changing my pyjamas, I dragged my feet lazily to the dining room, not wanting to be in the same place with that pervert, let alone see him.
"Good morning, dear. How are you? Did you sleep well?" Nana greeted me and asked about my night.
"Morning, Nana! I had a good sleep, just like always. What about you?" I replied to her and considered asking her about the night as well.
"It was good too. Now, come and eat before the food gets cold. We have prepared your favorite dishes." Nana replied with a smile on her face. She was such a sweetheart.
I took my usual spot and waited until Nana got her serving before I served myself.
"I didn't know you love scrambled eggs." Elias pointed out, trying to start up a conversation with me.
As much as I didn't want to reply, I had to do it out of respect for Nana.
"There's a lot of things you don't know about me and I'd rather keep it that way," I replied as nicely as possible.
"You are already rejecting me without even giving me a chance?" he sparked by putting his hand over his chest while he pretended to be hurt. What an act?
"Well, I'm not interested so you can move on and find somebody else." I simply replied to him before matching on my food.
"What if I want you?" he asked, moving his chair a bit closer to mine.
I was about to snap at him when Nana scolded him.
"Elias! Leave her alone, will you? Stop annoying her before I kick you out of the house!" she yelled at him and I was grinning.

After breakfast, I went to the kitchen to do the dishes when Nana stopped me.
"Leave those dishes to Elias, dear. Just focus on your orders for the week." Nana said and let me go.
"Why me?" Elias complained.
"Because you've been a naughty one since you arrived," Nana replied while hitting him on the shoulder.
"Ow! Why are you being so violent, Nana?" he complained while glaring at me occasionally.
I shook my head and excused myself from the kitchen.
"I wasn't mean to her, Nana. You know that's how I introduce myself to girls. I always leave a lasting impression on them." I heard him say when I was on the stairs, on my way up to my room.
"Yeah right! An impression of being a pervert... TSS!" I mumbled on my way up.
"I heard that!" he shouted.
I rolled my eyes and closed the door to my room. I sat back on my bed and continued crocheting the bralette I was working on.
Thankfully, the whole day went by without anybody interrupting or annoying me.
'Maia, will we ever visit the castle again? Even if it's from afar?' Avi asked hopefully.
Here we go again with our daily talk about the castle. Ever since we left, she would always ask me if we were ever going back or even visiting just to see how Lucius was doing.
'We have already talked about this, Avi. We'll never be able to move on if we keep coming back to the same place out of pity. For the sake of Lucius and ourselves, we have to move on and never look back. It will be more painful for all of us if we even try.' I replied to my wolf, Avi.
'But Maia! Don't you feel the pull of the mate bond? The farther we are from him, the more it hurts. I need him, Maia. We both need them.' she insisted. I understand the turmoil she is going through and it would be a lie if I say I don't miss them. But as I said, for the sake of everyone, we have to move on.
'Do you want to go out on a run?' I asked, changing the subject.
'No! I want to see Lucius. This is what I want.' she spat at me.
'Suit yourself, then. I am going to take a nap.' I replied, blocking her from the mind link so that she can't disturb me.
I plugged my earphones in and listened to music to help me fall asleep faster. After a couple of songs, I soon drifted into a deep slumber.
***
I was running in the forest, in the middle of the night from a big brown wolf. When the wolf clawed at me, I barely made it out unscathed.
A few hours ago, I was on my way home when I was kidnapped by rogues. I woke up in an abandoned building in the middle of the no-man's-land. No matter how much I tried to free myself, I couldn't. The rope was so tight on my wrist even the small movements felt like it was burning my skin. Later on, I realized that the rope was soaked in wolfsbane.
"What do you want from me, Uriah?" I spat when he entered the room.
"Did I not tell you that you couldn't leave the castle unless I said so?" Instead of answering me, he demanded an answer from me.
"What I decide to do is none of your concern!" I rebuked him immediately.
"That's where you are wrong, Maia. Everything you do is of my concern. You will do as I say when I say." he growled at me.
"In your dreams, Uriah. I will never do anything you asked me to do. You can keep trying, but I'd rather die than be your puppet. So, forget about it." I retaliated against his actions.
"Let's see about that, then. We'll see how long you can hold that facade of yours when it is your mate on the line." He said with a chuckle and then a nasty smirk plastered on his face.
My eyes widened when the realization dawned upon me, and I immediately panicked.
'No! Calm down, Maia. He can never hurt Lucius. He is strong.' I tried to calm myself down.
But when memories of that night, where I found him in the forest, flashed in my mind; I began to worry again.
Soon after, Uriah left the room and locked it from the outside, leaving me with my thoughts.
I have to get out of here. I have to help Lucius. He is in trouble and I'm sure that Uriah will use me as bait if I don't get to him first before Uriah.
No matter how much it hurt and how my skin was burning, I tried getting my hand freed from the rope. The rope being soaked in wolfsbane was blocking my wolf and my ability to shift. It was even making me weaker, and it slows down the healing process.
After what felt like an eternity of hell, I was finally able to break loose. Just when I thought that I was one step closer to freedom, I was engulfed in black smoke. I started coughing as the smoke got into my lungs, suffocating me.
A few seconds later, I started to lose my consciousness. The last thing I heard before I fell unconscious was 'Yeah. This is her. Get her.' a voice heard when the darkness engulfed me.
