Chapter 28: Chapter 28

Chapter 28 Thank you

MAIA'S POV

For the next couple of days, I just stayed in my room since I was still under bed rest. Lucius' blood was so strong that my body was having a hard time adjusting.

For the past three days, I have already gone into cardiac arrest, fallen unconscious, and had a very bad flu.

"How are you feeling, Queen Luna?" Emily asked while preparing my food on the table.

"How many times do I have to tell you to stop calling me that?" I asked.

"I can't defy King Alpha's order. Besides, you are Queen Luna. He has already marked you as his. It is our greatest honor to call you Queen Luna." she replied.

I let out a sigh knowing they would never stop calling me Queen Luna.

"Your food is ready, Queen Luna," she said, standing by the bed.

She helped me remove the covers from my feet and assisted me to the table.

"Thank you, Emily," I said.

I stared out the window as I ate my food. Ever since the whole poison thing, Emily would always stay with me until I had eaten my food.

Emily was just about to leave with the dirty dishes when there was a knock on the door.

"Were you expecting a visitor, Queen Luna?" She asked.

"No," I answered.

She went to the door and slowly opened it.

"Beta Neal." She greeted.

I gave her a nod, letting her know that it was okay.

"How are you feeling, Queen luna?" Neal asked, walking towards the table.

"Seriously, even you? Just stop calling me Queen Luna because I am not." I complained.

I was getting pissed with everyone calling me Queen Luna. The main reason was that it was simply an order from Lucius. The other thing was a part of me was enjoying it. A big part of that was Avi. She was enjoying the respect we were getting.

"Relax, Maia. No one means any harm. It's their way of giving respect." he said.

"Well, I'm not supposed to be getting that respect or be called Queen Luna. Pamela should be, not me." I replied.

"Are you still jealous after Lucius has marked you?" he asked.

"He only marked me to save me from death. Not because he wanted to." I argued.

"No, Maia. He could have said no and ordered the pack doctor to find another solution, but he did not. When we proposed this solution, he did not have any second thoughts. He did that because he chose you. He is doing his best to fix the Pamela issue, but you need to trust him. Even if he marked you because he had no other choice, he would not have ordered everyone to call you Queen Luna. Don't you see it? He is claiming you as his because he wants you and no one else." he explained.

I let out a sigh as a part of me agreed to what Neal said.

"Well, I'm sure that you did not come here to talk about that." I implied.

"I am here to check on you, of course. To see how you are doing and ask if there is anything you might want or need," he said.

"Well, you can tell him that I am still alive." I spat.

"He did not send me. I came here on my own. I am not here as his Beta, but as a friend." he said.

I let out a sigh and looked at him.

"I don't know, Neal. Having his mark and his blood in me is confusing the hell out of me. I don't know what to do. My judgment is being biased because of this mark. I can barely think straight without thinking of wanting to be with him every 30 seconds. This is too much. It needs to stop." I complained.

"What is bothering you, Maia? Is it the mark, Pamela, or something else?" he asked.

"All of them. He should have not marked me. Everything will become complicated because of this mark." I replied.

"Why do you say that? Are you suggesting that he should have just let you die?" he asked.

"Pamela does not deserve this. They had already planned this before he knew that I existed. She's supposed to be Queen Luna, not me." I replied.

"Why are you saying that? You are his mate that was chosen by the Moon Goddess, not Pamela. She WAS his chosen mate. Nothing more. You should not be jealous of her. Lucius will always want you and not her. He is bound to you." he said.

"That is exactly my point. He only wants me because his wolf does. I was the one given by the Moon Goddess, but not the one he chose. Don't you see the difference? He chose her out of free will not because he was bound to her." I explained.

"You are seeing this the other way around. If I can only show you how he sees you through his eyes, I would. He loves you, Maia. He is just not good with words and he has been through a lot. Just give him some time." he said.

I let out a sigh, knowing that my brain would just turn back on me and betray me because of the bond that has formed ever since he marked me.

When Neal left, I was more confused than when he came. It has been a week since I last saw Lucius. To be honest, Avi has been bugging me to meet him.

'Maia, please. How long are you going to ignore him?' she asked.

'I'm sorry, Avi. I just don't know if this is the right thing that we should be doing. It's not fair to Pamela.' I apologized.

'But Maia, we have not seen him for a week. You know that we are just going to become more cranky and weak. We need him. I need him.' she said.

I let out a sigh, knowing that she was right.

After hours of having an internal battle, I have decided what to do. I changed my clothes and headed down to Lucius' office.

I was just about to knock on the door when it was suddenly yanked open.

"Maia," he said. His voice sounded like he ran a marathon.

"Hi," I mumbled.

"Hi. Come in. Have a seat," He said, motioning for me to enter.

I sat on the couch as he closed the door.

"Uhmm. Is there anything you need? Are you feeling okay?" He asked, nervously.

"No. I mean. I don't need anything and I am okay." I replied.

"Well, that's a relief then." He said with a light chuckle.

"I came here to apologize for acting cold towards you. I should have been more appreciative of you for saving me. If it wasn't for you, I would have died that day. Thank you for saving me." I said.

"Maia, there is nothing you should be sorry about. Most importantly, you don't have to thank me. I know that it wasn't what you thought would happen when you get marked. If there was just another way, I would not have done it. So, I clearly understand." he replied.

"Still, thank you for doing so. I owe you my life." I said.

"No, Maia. You owe me nothing. I will do anything to protect you and keep you safe. You are my Queen Luna." he replied.

I couldn't help myself but become teary when he called me his Queen Luna.

"What's wrong? Did I say something that offended you? Are you in some kind of pain? Should I call the doctor?" he asked, one after another.

Instead of answering his questions, I wrapped my arms around his neck and hugged him. He seemed to be taken by surprise. A few seconds later, I felt his arms around my waist as he let out a sigh of relief.

"Thank you," I mumbled.
