Chapter 17: Chapter 17
I WOKE up in Adam's familiar bedroom. I ran my fingers through my hair and got up from the bed. I pulled up the white sheets on my body when I realized that I was naked.
I bit my lower lip as I remembered what happened the other night. We had sex again last night! Here in his apartment.
The room opened and I saw Adam. He was fresh from the shower with only boxers covering his body. Damn. He was topless.
My face reddened as I remembered how I licked that torso hours ago.
"Hey," Adam smiled as he sat on the bed. Beads of water were trickling down his chest. "Good morning." He smelled so good. I could inhale soap and mint from him.
"Morning." Damn. My voice was hoarse from intense screaming last night. "Uh, where's my clothes?"
My lips pursed when I saw how he looked at me. I tried to pull up the sheets more to cover myself.
“Why are you hiding yourself?” There was an amused smile on his lips. "Don't tell me you're still shy after all this time?"
I just cleared my throat. He was right. I was still shy until now. Damn. I didn't expect last night to happen. I was really a loose cannon with his kisses.
"Where are my clothes, Adam? I need to go home."
“I already put it in the hamper.”
“What?” What was I going to wear now? "I need to go home by ten, Adam. I need to join my mother for lunch with her political party."
"Well, it's still seven in the morning, Claire," Adam smiled. "Don't worry, I'll take you home before ten."
Before I could reply, Adam had already captured my lips. All my thoughts were suddenly forgotten. All I could think about right now was how his lips expertly moved against mine.
"Hmm… what are we doing, Adam?" I asked him when we parted to get some air.
"Kissing?" The corner of his lips tugged up in a smile.
I pursed my lips. "Well, I mean, last night. Something happened between us."
Adam held me in the shoulder and looked at me straight in the eyes. "We can't deny that we're physically attracted to each other, Claire. We want each other's bodies."
I could clearly see the desire in Adam's eyes. I swallowed hard. "Well… yeah. You're right," I admitted. After the wild sex we had last night, there's no need to deny it. I was physically attracted to Adam. I was lusting over him.
"I'm physically attracted to you."
Adam gave me a satisfied smile. "So I suggest that we keep each other satisfied during the duration of the contract. We're going to be real husband and wife, anyway. What do you say?"
I bit my lower lip. I suddenly remembered what Ciarra had said to me yesterday. My best friend was right.
"Alright." I nodded at Adam.
Well, Adam's right. We're going to live under one roof as a real married couple. Why not enjoy its perks?
"Great." Adam claimed my lips in another earth shattering kiss before he let go of me. "Come on. As much as I want to devour your lips more, you have to eat breakfast. We don't want our baby hungry, do we?"
A small smile played on my lips. Our baby. That sounded good in my ears.
A minute later, I went to the dining area wearing one of Adam's drawstring shirts and a white shirt. Just like him, I was already fresh from the shower. Now, I smelled like Adam since I used his body soap and shampoo.
I pursed my lips when I saw the food on the dining table. Scrambled eggs, sausages, French toast, pancakes, pancakes and fresh fruits. There was also a glass of milk.
"This is too much, Adam."
Adam turned to me. "Well, I didn't know what you like, so I just decided to prepare all of these."
"Thank you." I pulled up a chair.
"Don't you experience morning sickness?"
I shook my head as I picked up the platter of sausage. I put one on my plate.
"But I'm very sensitive to smell. I found out I was pregnant when I vomited over a risotto. Then my mother found out about it when I vomited over caviar. Those two were my favorites."
He slightly raised his brow. "Just tell me if you want or need something. I'll try to get it for you."
"Thanks, Adam." I smiled at him. He was really a thoughtful person, huh. I remembered the weekend we spent together on the island. He really took care of me during our entire stay there.
"By the way, are you really okay leaving your place?"
I asked Adam in the middle of breakfast.
"It's fine, Claire. I already told my cousin that she could stay here at my place for the meantime."
"Oh. Right." My cheeks reddened when I remembered how I got upset last night.
"How about your parents? Aren't you going to inform them that you're gonna get married?"
He just smiled at me. "My father had already died. And my mother was already living with her new family in Europe."
"Oh."
"The only relative I have here is Tara, the woman you saw with me yesterday. She was my cousin on my father's side. She was already an orphan. Her parents died five years ago. Car accident."
"I'm sorry to hear that, Adam." This was the first time I heard this from Adam. I realized he was secretive when it came to family matters.
"I hope you invite Tara."
"Yeah. I did, but she would be out of the country on the weekend. She works as a model." He smiled. "But I invited Arthur."
"Arthur?"
He cocked his brow. "The tattoo shop owner who did your tats?"
My eyes widened. "Oh, yes. How could I forget him?"
Our wedding would be a private one. We only expected twenty guests, and most of them would come from my side.
But then there's Arthur for Adam.
"Thanks for the breakfast, Adam. And for driving me home."
I said to Adam when I took off my seatbelt. After we had breakfast, he drove me home using my car.
"You're welcome, Claire."
"Uh, do you want to go inside first?"
"No. It's okay. I have to attend to some business, too."
"Okay. But how are you going to get home?"
"Don't worry," he said, winking at me. "I can ride a taxi."
