Chapter 43: Chapter 43

Mink’s P.O.V

The next day dawned with a crispness that energized every fiber of my being. I couldn't wait to spend the day exploring the valley with Abhay. This wouldn’t be the first time we went on a date, but I was especially ecstatic because this time, I was the one taking him out, unlike the dates that Abhay usually took me on when we were in Gujarat.

As we embarked on our journey down the hill, I felt a sense of excitement bubbling within me, mingled with a touch of nervousness. I wanted everything to be perfect, especially today.

"Isn't it breathtaking?" I exclaimed, gesturing towards the sprawling landscape before us. The valley stretched out like a vast canvas painted in shades of green and gold, dotted with colorful wildflowers that swayed gently in the breeze. It was a sight to behold, one that filled me with a sense of wonder and awe.

Abhay nodded in agreement, his eyes reflecting the beauty of our surroundings. "It's truly magnificent," he replied, his voice filled with quiet admiration.

As we continued our descent into the valley, I couldn't help but steal glances at Abhay, taking in the way his eyes sparkled in the morning light and the way his smile lit up his face. He was my anchor in a sea of uncertainty, a constant source of support and encouragement.

Suddenly, we stumbled upon a picturesque pasture carpeted with vibrant flowers of every hue imaginable. It was like something out of a fairy tale, a scene so enchanting that it took my breath away. I felt a surge of joy coursing through me, tinged with a hint of disbelief that such beauty could exist in the world.

"Wow, would you look at that?" I exclaimed, my eyes widening in wonder as I took in the sight before me.

Abhay chuckled softly, his gaze lingering on the colorful display. "It's like something straight out of a dream," he mused, his voice tinged with awe. “Now I regret not bringing my camera with me! Imagine taking pictures in this valley!”

“Oh, hush! You’re always with your camera.” I couldn’t help but smile at his sulky expression. “Just enjoy the moment with me. Forget everything else, your work, the pack and especially your camera. For today, it’s just you and me.”

“Alright,” Abhay grinned, promising to forget everything for today and just enjoy the moment with me. But I didn’t have a single doubt that he will be back with one of the patrol guards that he had befriended and he will bring his camera. But of that, another time.

I couldn't tear my eyes away from the flowers, each one more exquisite than the last. They seemed to dance in the gentle breeze, their petals fluttering like delicate butterflies. It was a sight I knew I would never forget, a moment frozen in time forever.

Lost in the magic of the moment, I suddenly became aware of Abhay's gaze upon me. I turned to face him, feeling a blush creeping up my cheeks as our eyes met.

"You look beautiful today," he said softly, his words sending a warm flutter through my heart.

I smiled shyly, feeling a surge of happiness wash over me. "Thank you," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.

But then, to my surprise, Abhay reached out and took my hand in his, his touch sending a jolt of electricity coursing through me.

"You know," he began, his voice gentle yet earnest, "you don't need to dress up for me. I love you just the way you are."

I gave him a warm smile, touched by his sincerity and love. "I know," I nodded. "But I just felt like wearing this dress today. It felt like a throwback to our dates in Gujarat."

Abhay's eyes softened, his gaze filled with understanding. "And you look absolutely stunning," he said, his words sending a surge of warmth through my veins. “Let’s go on more dates, so we can cherish every moment together.”

In that moment, surrounded by the beauty of the valley and the warmth of Abhay's love, I knew that I was exactly where I was meant to be. And as we stood there, hand in hand, I felt a sense of peace settle over me, knowing that no matter what the future held, we would face it together, united in love and happiness.

Later on, as we strolled through the quaint village nestled in the valley, the crisp air filled our lungs with freshness, and the golden rays of the setting sun painted the surroundings with a warm glow. Abhay, and I relished every moment of our leisurely walk, taking in the sights and sounds of the bustling village life.

"Isn't this place just magical?" I exclaimed, my eyes sparkling with excitement as I admired the charming cottages and vibrant market stalls lining the cobblestone streets.

"It's absolutely enchanting," he replied, unable to contain his own sense of wonder at the beauty surrounding us.

Abhay grinned, his eyes alight with mischief. "And the treats here are out of this world! Who's up for some freshly baked pastries?"

We eagerly agreed, our stomachs rumbling in anticipation as we made our way to the nearest bakery. The aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries greeted us as we stepped inside, and we couldn't help but indulge in an assortment of delectable treats.

As we savored our snacks, we couldn't resist exploring further, wandering through the village square where the tribal musicians played lively tunes on unknown instruments and artisans showcased their crafts.

"Look at those handcrafted trinkets!" I exclaimed, my eyes sparkling with delight as I admired a display of intricate jewelry.

Abhay grinned, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Perhaps I should get you a little something as a souvenir of our adventure."

I laughed, swatting playfully at his arm. "You don't have to do that, silly. I was actually thinking of getting something for our baby."

“You want something for the child?” He asked, surprised. “But we don’t even know the gender.”

“That’s even better.” I laughed. “But never mind, I was just-”

But before I could stop him, Abhay was already selecting a delicate necklace adorned with sparkling gemstones, insisting that I deserved nothing but the best. With a grateful smile, I accepted his thoughtful gesture, slipping the necklace around her neck with a look of pure joy.

“Here.” He held up what looked like a tiny jade bangle. “This is for our baby.”

“Oh!” My heart swelled with joy as I looked at the beautifully polished round bangle. “It’s beautiful.”

Carefully wrapping it in paper, Abhay placed it inside his pocket so that we could keep it in our bedroom, and present it to our baby when it was born. It will still be a while since we get to meet our little one, but the underlying excitement had everyone in the pack already buzzing with energy.

As we continued our leisurely stroll through the village, Abhay suddenly paused, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "I have an idea," he announced, plucking a few colorful flowers from a nearby garden.

Before I could protest, he began weaving the flowers into a crown, his fingers deftly crafting a masterpiece fit for a queen. With a flourish, he placed the flower crown atop my head, his eyes softening as he gazed at me with adoration.

I gasped in delight, my cheeks flushing pink with pleasure. "Oh, Abhay, it's beautiful!" I exclaimed, twirling around in delight as I admired my floral adornment.

But Abhay wasn't done yet. With a charming grin, he took my hand and pulled me into a playful dance, the two of us spinning and twirling beneath the setting sun as if we were the only ones in the world.

In my century of existence, I had never felt so young, so alive as I did right then, twirling in Abhay’s arms as we danced to some unknown tune. And I couldn’t believe that I had to wait for a century to meet the man of my dreams who would help me let my guard down and make me feel like a teenager once again.

A few hours later, after we had a wonderful meal at a local hotel, I sat there in the lush green pasture with Abhay, the warmth of the setting sun casting a golden hue over everything, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of utter contentment.

The gentle breeze played with strands of my hair as we gazed at the village below, our hearts full of joy from all the day’s activities. Abhay's hand found mine, his touch sending a shiver down my spine, and I leaned into him, feeling safe and loved in his embrace.

"Isn't this just perfect, Firangi?" Abhay murmured, his voice soft and filled with affection as he gazed at me, his eyes reflecting the warmth of the fading sunlight.

I nodded, unable to tear my gaze away from his. "It's more than perfect," I replied, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips. "It's magical."

And in that moment, as the world seemed to slow down around us, Abhay leaned in closer, his lips meeting mine in a tender kiss. Time seemed to stand still as we melted into each other, the world fading away until there was only us, lost in the sweetness of the moment.

As we pulled away from each other, breathless and flushed with emotion, I turned to Abhay, a soft laugh escaping my lips.

"I love you," I whispered, my heart overflowing with love for the man sitting beside me.

Abhay's eyes sparkled with emotion as he returned my gaze. "I love you too, my Firangi," he spoke softly. “Forever and always.”

And in that moment, as the last rays of sunlight dipped below the horizon, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink, I knew that I was exactly where I was meant to be. With Abhay, in this beautiful moment, surrounded by love and the beauty of nature even though deep down, I knew that there was danger lurking in the dark.

But little did we know, as we sat there wrapped up in each other, that we were not alone. Unbeknownst to us, hidden amongst the tall grasses of the pasture, someone was watching. Someone whose malevolent presence we were completely unaware of.
