Chapter 7: Chapter 7

CLAIRE JUST continuously followed Zack upstairs. He is still holding one of her hands and he seems to be so excited. He opened the door and it is easy to guess that it is his room. Everything is in shades of blue and that makes his room look so cool.

“Do you want me to see your room, that is why you want me to come with you?” Claire asked him while smiling.

For a second he seems surprised. “Y-You used to hate my room.” He said sadly. Then he looked at his hand which was tangled to her hand. “A-And y-you don’t want me touching you, especially when daddy is not around.”

The word shock is not enough to describe Claire’s expression when she heard the little boy saying that. Why would a mother do that? Immediately her heart went out for Zack. He is just a little boy and he is getting that treatment already and the worst part is it’s from his own mother.

She bent down and looked at him. He is looking into his feet, maybe afraid of what she will say. She touched his face and gave him a warm smile.

“I’m sorry about that. But don’t worry from now on you can always invite me here and you can always hold my hands as well.” She said.

His face lights up and that makes him look more handsome and cute.

“Really? You will let me?” He asked, looking for assurance.

“Of course honey.” She said cheerfully.

His face lights up even more upon hearing her endearment.

“You are my new mommy.” He exclaimed.

“W-What do you mean?” She asked, stammering. Did Zack figure it out?

“My old mommy never smiled at me, so I like my new mommy now.” He said, still smiling at her.

She sighed. “Yes, we can say that, I am your new mommy and I promise that I will make it up to you. She said beaming at him.

“Yehey!” He rejoiced and walked her through towards his bed.

They sat on the side of the bed and then he handed her a small envelope. She is guessing that this is a letter.

“This is for you mommy. Welcome home!” He said and hugged her tightly.

She was speechless by Zack’s gesture. What a sweet boy!

“Oh!” That is the only word that came out of her mouth and responded to his hug.

After that she checked the letter. “Okay, let me read this letter now.”

Zack nodded as excitement was visible in his face.

She opened the letter and read it out loud. “Dear mommy, I am praying that you will be okay. I am sorry because I’ve been a bad boy that is why you left me and daddy. I pray that you will be back soon and play with me this time. Promise I will be a good boy. I love you mommy and I miss you! Love Zack.” She finished reading the letter with teary eyes.

This boy is not only sweet and handsome, he is so smart and kind hearted too. Even if he is not her son she will definitely fall in love with this boy. As a matter of fact she already fell in love with this boy.

“Oh! Zacky, you are so sweet, smart and kind hearted too.” She said, kissing the top of his head.

After a few seconds he picked a medium size box underneath the bed. He opened the box and she saw a bunch of letters.

“My old mommy does not like them.” He said sadly. “I wrote letters on every occasion.” He continued. She felt bad for him.

“Don’t worry, from now on I will read all your letters.” She said, hoping to cheer him up.

Suddenly, her face lights up again. “Really mommy?” He asked.

“Yes, really!” She beamed.

“I really like my new mommy.” He said happily.

Claire stayed a little bit more in Zack's room and she played with him. The little boy was so happy the whole time. Seeing him this happy makes her feel less guilty of deceiving and involving herself into this situation.

After playing with him she told him that she will go to her room and will just take a shower and will be back after. Zack nodded and continued playing with his toys.

She went outside his room and that was the time when she realized that she did not have any idea on where to go. She started checking if there was someone there in the hallway, no one was there. Then she tried to figure out which of these doors was the master’s bedroom.

Logically thinking, the husband and the wife should occupy the master’s bedroom right? But, if she will be there then Blaire will be there too! Since she is his wife in his eyes, then apparently she will share the room with Blaire and she needs to sleep next to him too! Oh! Gracious heaven! She did not think about that a while back! What should she do now?

She was in the middle of this thinking when she heard Zack open the door of his room.

“Mommy?”

She turned to him and said, “Can you help mommy Zacky?”

“What is it mommy?” He asked innocently.

“Can you walk me through to Daddy and Mommy’s room?” She smiled at him while asking.

He looked at her intently and after a second he said, “Of course mommy. Zacky can do that.” Then he held one of her hands and led the way.

She sighed. Good thing the little boy was there to guide her. Because honestly, she does not know what to do if he was not there. But as they walked towards the room, she started feeling nervous. Will she see Blaire again? The thought of her being in the master’s bedroom with Blaire makes her shiver! If for feeling frightened or excited, she does not have any idea!
