Chapter 50: Chapter 50
Isabella's pov;
When I first walked inside the restaurant, I was startled by the bursting sound, which caused me to jump in the air. When I opened my eyes, which had been closed due to the sound's force, colourful confetti rained down all over the room, even on me.
"Congratulations, Bella!" Everyone yelled at the same time.
"What exactly is this? Is it true that our restaurant made the news?" I inquired of them, unsure of what was going on.
"Stop thinking about the restaurant all the time," Emily murmured with a brush of her hand over my brow.
"Then what is the point of the celebration?"
A voice from behind me replied. "It's a wedding present for you." It was Dylan who I saw as I turned around.
Emily took my hand in hers and pointed to my ring finger, saying, "You claimed you were going to a friend's wedding, but you actually went to get married. Here's where we need an explanation."
They all nodded in unison when I looked at them.
"Is it true that you're working against me? I'm the one in charge. Do you have any recollection of that?"
Victor approached me and stood in front of me, staring at me.
"Wh-what are you doing..."
He abruptly squeezed my ear.
"Ack! Ack! It's excruciating. What exactly do you expect from me?"
"Why didn't you notify us about the wedding?" he inquired.
"It came as a shock to me as well."
"What?"
Greetings, Emily "Don't take her word for it. She attended the wedding dressed in a bridal gown. She was well aware of the situation. When I questioned her about the attire, she gave me incomprehensible explanations. She had done her homework."
Victor inquired, "While I was staring at Emily, "What's the point of staring at her? What exactly do you mean by unexpected?"
I noticed individuals outside the restaurant as I was contemplating a lie, but they did not enter.
"Someone's outside," I said. And walked away from them, heading outside. People were wrestling with one another to stand in a position while holding a microphone and video camera when I opened the door. Some had voice recorders.
They started asking me things like, "How do you know Mr Martinez?"
"How and where did you meet him?"
"Was it a hidden love?"
"How long have you been in a relationship with him if it's love?"
"How come you got married without inviting anyone?"
Woah! That was the longest questionnaire I'd ever heard. I was nervous because I had never done this before. Should I respond? Should I close the door and ghost them? I expected that exposing Mr Martinez would cause him problems because he is in a higher position, but I never imagined it would backfire on me. What should I do now?
I was glancing at the individuals who were questioning me when I noticed Mr Martinez's automobile arrive at the restaurant.
Mr Martinez stepped out of the car and walked towards me, while the guys clad in black and resembling bodyguards who came along with him repelled the media.
Mr Martinez placed his hand on my shoulder and addressed all present, "I, Alexander Martinez, married this lovely lady, Isabella Garcia, out of love. I've already provided you with enough knowledge, so you can all depart now."
Mr Martinez asked, "Was I good, honey?" as the security forced everyone to leave.
"Honey, my ass," I muttered as I pulled him away.
He pressed his finger to my lips and urged, "Don't be cruel. People are watching."
I smiled at them and walked into the restaurant.
Mr Martinez accompanied me inside, where everyone congratulated him.
I said, "It's not break time, guys. Get over to your location and get to work. And I need someone to clear up the confetti." And headed to the dressing room.
When I attempted to take off my denim shirt, "Wait! The door is wide open."
"What are you doing here?" I questioned, pulling my top back.
"I had no idea that it was a changing room. I followed you inside, assuming you were going to your cabin."
"How come you're still here?"
"Don't I deserve to be thanked?" And made an uptight expression.
"I need to change my outfit, so Please."
After he left, I shut the door and changed into my server's outfit after he departed.
When I left, I noticed Mr Martinez at one of the tables.
I walked right by him and into the service area.
Emily, "That's your table, by the way."
I sighed and walked over to my table.
"What do you want for lunch?" I inquired, standing next to Mr Martinez.
"You."
"What?"
"I mean… Do you have any recommendations for me?"
"Since you don't like spicy foods, I recommend you try our baked bear, which is this week's special. It's an ice cream sandwich with your choice of toppings. There are brownies and donuts available. We can also combine brownies, cookies, and donuts."
"I'll go with the brownie."
"Yes, Sir. You'll receive your orders in a few minutes, so read this while you wait." And gave him a book.
When I attempted to leave, he stated, "I am not Sir. Isabella, I'm your husband."
I strolled to the service area, ignoring him.
I thought I could tease and torment him with the wedding ring, but I had no idea I'd be the one suffering here.
"Enjoy the dessert," I added as I placed the order in front of Mr Martinez. When I attempted to go, he grabbed my hand and said, "Aren't you going to feed me, honey?"
"Do you want me to yell at you in front of everyone?" I questioned, taking his hands away.
"Go on," he murmured as he rose from his seat. He sounded like a test.
Emily, "Guys, I know you just got married yesterday, but this is a working place, so if you want to romance, do it outside because everyone is staring at you."
"I know how to keep a distance, so I'll just eat the dessert for now," Mr Martinez replied as he sat down. And kept eating the dessert.
"Go take orders from the other table," Emily urged so I moved to another table.
Mr Martinez came in when I was obtaining my orders from the service area and asked, "When will you be off work?"
"Why do you act as if you don't know?"
"Then I'll pick you up at 10."
When he tried to leave, I asked, "To where?"
He turned to face me and murmured, "To a date." And then went after kissing my cheeks.
Olivia, "You two look adorable together." She gave a smile and went back to her work.
After everyone had gone home, I closed the door as usual and went to bed. Someone came to the door and knocked.
When I opened the door, I noticed Mr Martinez standing in front of it, dressed casually.
"What exactly is it? Do you want something to drink?"
"Did you forget the date already?" he questioned, flicking his wrist.
I then remembered what had transpired earlier in the day. He informed me that he was taking me on a date.
"I'm sleepy."
When I tried to shut the door, he added, "It was a proposal procedure."
"I'm still sleepy," I said with a stare.
"Come on, I don't have time during the day because you work all day." And he pursed his lips.
"That doesn't suit you," I said as I picked a coat from a neighbouring hook. And then left the restaurant.
"However, that caused you to change your mind."
"Where are we going?" I questioned him as we walked to the car.
"To gaze at the stars."
"FYI. This is the winter season and you can't see stars in this period of time." Said with a finger pointing to the night sky.
"Don't destroy the atmosphere. Get in." Said as he opened the car door for me.
"I have a hand." And climbed inside the car and closed the door.
We eventually arrived at the beach.
"Beach?" I exclaimed joyfully.
He nodded and stated, "You were thrilled when we arrived last night. I thought I'd bring you here every weekend, but a lot of things happened and I couldn't. So, shall we go ahead?"
We walked to the beach and I took off my shoes, but when I tried to step in, I turned and glanced at Mr Martinez. I forgot about his fear of water. I approached him and requested him to take my hand in his.
"Come on."
He smiled and took my hand in his. The fingers were intertwined.
As the water reached our waists, we both walked into it. I sprayed some water on him because he appeared to be concerned about the water. I devised a strategy, let go of his hand, and moved backwards within the water, looking at Mr Martinez.
"Are you insane? Why are you walking in that manner? What if the tidal wave..."
I was blown away by the wave and landed in the water.
Mr Martinez approached me, brought me to the shore, and asked, "What made you do that? Are you completely insane?"
"I don't want you to fear water. I wanted you to enjoy it like everyone."
He suddenly hugged me strongly which made my heart beat faster, reminding me once again that I fell for him hard. I missed his tight hugs.
He broke the hug and said, "I forgot the surprise. Walk with me."
I followed him behind while walking hand in hand and enjoying every moment.
When he came to a halt, I noticed a carpet put out on the beach, surrounded by bright lights. There were two pillows, a wine bottle, and two glasses on the carpet.
"Did you actually do this?"
He moved up to the carpet and sat down, saying, "Yes. Come on in."
I moved onto the carpet and sat next to him, admiring the decor he had created.
"That's a lot of thought for a guy like you."
"What do you mean 'guy like me,'" he questioned, putting his hand on my shoulder.
"The one who exhibits harsh faces to the people around you," I murmured, pushing his face away from mine.
"However, I grin at you."
"The one who works too much."
"I'll leave if it's for you."
"Stop being so amusing." I took the bottle of wine and inquired, "Did you buy it on purpose? Are you planning on getting me drunk?"
"Today, it's just for decoration," he remarked, taking the wine bottle and setting it aside.
"What?"
He approached me, our faces only a few inches apart. I thought he would kiss me but he didn't. What exactly is he waiting for? Just kiss and go on.
"Close your eyes," he said softly, brushing his cheeks against mine.
I shut my eyes tight and waited for him.
"Five... four... three..." what is he counting? "Two... Now open your eyes."
I opened my eyes and stared him in the eyes. His eyes were shining in the middle of the night.
He smiled and said, "Not me, look at the sky." Said while shifting his gaze to the beach.
I turned and looked at the sky like he asked me to. There were unexpected fireworks in the sky. It looked stunning. With the pyrotechnics, the sky looked vibrant.
"What do the stars look like?" Mr Martinez asked quietly.
"Beautiful!" I exclaimed, laughing.
Mr Martinez kissed my cheek again and whispered, "Marry me."
"I already have." And showed him the ring.
"That isn't mine."
"Finish it completely," I remarked as I took the bottle of wine and opened the cork.
He seized the bottle from me and began drinking excessively.
I took it from him before he got intoxicated and asked, "Are you trying to get killed?"
"Isabella…"
He collapsed on the carpet. I curled up next to him.
I'm not sure why. I had the guts to announce to everyone that we were married, but I lacked the confidence to embrace your love. I'm scared that if I accept you, our love would gradually wane over time, and it will disappear completely. What if we end up like our parents? What if we end up as strangers? I like the thing that exists between us, so let's keep it that way forever. It's not true when I said I'll accept you, when you propose to me. I'm going to reject it every time, no matter how many times you present it. I'm sorry, Mr Martinez.
