If anyone ever asks me why they should put their trust in God and why they should look up to God as the ultimate answer to their prayers, I would not hesitate to tell them about my sister, Cassandra. Her story would serve as the perfect answer to their question and as the perfect reason for them to put their trust in God.

Cassandra lived.

God had answered my prayer.

He heard my voice.

"Y-you are alive, " more tears billow out of my eyes as I step closer and closer to Cassie. I plop on to the bed and embrace her, trying my hardest to deplete her with my affection, hugging her so affectionately like I'd longed to be able to do.

She fought to swallow me with the gratitude she felt. I could feel the competition for who wanted to get their sensitivities the most vivid. Telling by the way she clamped her hands around my suit, in an attempt to squeeze me in her own arms, and with the way she was now starting to cry, I knew there was a gazillion of emotions before portrayed than expressed verbally because they communicated in a loud, ear-deafening, heart-aching manner.

We cried together.

I made an effort to release myself completely from her hold which was almost as significant as an ant fart on the Mt. Everest but after a little more action, I was able to release myself only a little but our arms never broke free from its hold. I looked at her face then wiped her tears away with my thumb.

"I can't believe I'm okay now. It feels like I was never sick or I was never about to die."

I pulled her close and hugged her again, resuming the position we were originally in. I caress her hair down to its extent, then I released myself a little so I could look at her face, and then, I hugged her again.

The action repeated itself.

"Ahem...looks like we are pretty much invincible right now, " David chipped in. Just then, I turned to him and gave him a small smile, rendering my apology non-verbally.

He'd probably said a thousand words before but that was the first time I'd heard him speak.

"My heart is so heavy right now, " I sighed. "Thank you, David. Thank you, Alex, for looking after her. What happened after I got the news?" I asked the two brothers.

"I think it will be best to let Cassie tell the tale herself, " Alex responded.

I turned to Cassie, the only one in whom my attention has been on all along. I rub her shoulders gently and give them a soft squeeze. Another tear of joy trickled down my face. "Is it okay with you?"

She looked at me and smiled. I took it as an affirmative answer. I allowed her to take all of the time she needed to be able to speak at length for the first time since she's been hospitalized.

There was silence.

Then a teaspoon of silence.

And then another...

Finally...

"I was actually very close to dying. I saw the sea as I closed my eyes and the waves of the sea were really loud. Louder than I had heard it even when I was physically there but I was trying and fighting hard, begging God to save me so I could live for my children and fight my battles with pristine strength. The sea called for me. The beeping of the machine made it difficult for me to reach out to God as my lifeline. It started to look like the sea was going to win me over. I shouted internally, asking God to please save me. It was the last bit of strength I had. Suddenly, everything went still. The machine ceased its noise and the sea stopped. Everything was dark and noiseless. Then, I saw a hand reach out to me. He looked like the man sister Demi said she'd seen in her trance the day she learned about her daughter's terminal disease. I saw that same man or at least, I saw the light in which he shone. I felt his presence so much that I knew it was him. I reached out from pitch black abyss and stretched my hand from the sea in which I saw myself in and then, he pulled me out of the storm and I woke up on dry land, new and restored."

If I thought I was crying before, I was certainly weeping now. The fact that I had also heard the noise of the sea and the beeping of the machine on my way to the hospital and the ceasing of both noises blew my mind. The rapport was substantial. Cassie was supposed to die but God came through.

"I'm just so glad that you are alive."

"I am too and I am ready to fight the skirmishes I caused. I know the President of Somalia wants is looking for Mustafa and I and I know he wants to kill us but I can't let him kill Mustafa because I caused all of the mess to happen in the first place."

"We are going to fight the battle together but you have to rest first. You just woke up. You just survived death. I can't let you go to a battlefield alone."

"We all can't, " Alexander and David said firmly in unison. Again, I'd forgotten that they were there with us.

"But I fought to stay alive. Fighting against the President of Somalia should not be as difficult," she asserted.

"What do you know about the law, my love?"

"Nothing but—"

"And that's exactly why I must fight the battle for you and with you. All you need to do is to give me the details of the transaction that happens so I will be able to defend you properly."

"Alright then can I—"

"No, you can't. You are going to rest today and then talk to your kids afterward. They missed you."

After fifty push-ups, numerous domestic olfactory tests, and exercising activities, I was beyond convinced that Cassandra was indeed, whole. She'd done a splendid job in convincing everyone simply because she couldn't wait to get to war and I knew I couldn't waste any more time either.

On a sunny afternoon, when it was just the two of us present at my house, I deemed it the perfect time to interrogate her.

"Are you ready to talk about it now?"

"More than ready, sis. We can't waste any more time."

"Alright, " quickly, I open my note pad and I position my pen professionally in my hands, reading to pen down the facts of her case, verbatim. "So, tell me about the transaction."

"Mustafa was to receive a certain amount of boxes containing unrefined gemstones from Yemeni suppliers. I was aware of the transaction so, I stole some of his banknotes and was able to get in contact with the suppliers. I asked them to supply ten extra boxes of unrefined gemstones so I could sell them to someone I knew was going to buy. Since I was visiting the office frequently during that period, I learned about the Minister from Somalia and his willingness to purchase some gemstones but I guess his request got declined for an unknown reason. Since I wanted to make a personal gain, I didn't care about the reason so I got in contact with the Minister and told him that he could come to make a purchase of ten boxes of gemstones."

"Were you aware that the gemstones were fake?"

"No, I wasn't aware. However, I initially wasn't even certain about the originality of the gemstones since they were not imported from any of the countries where Mustafa's dad owns mines in but I wasn't aware of its originality."

"Hmm. Did the minister examine the gemstones before purchasing them?"

"Yes, he did. Thoroughly so as a matter of fact. He even asked his bodyguard to examine it. They were convinced that it was original and they purchased all the ten boxes."

"Then, I must say that the President of Somalia is very stupid to have come all the way to fight you after the gemstones have already been sold to the minister from Azerbaijan. He's indeed, very stupid."

"What do you mean by that?"

"You will understand very soon, " I held her hand and gave it a light caress assuringly. "Just know that you have nothing to worry about. All you have to do is to comport yourself. If you are scared, don't show it. That he is a president doesn't make him the most reasonable, elite, or superior because he has clearly just shown that he is not intelligent in any way. I just feel really bad for his citizens."

"Thank you so much for always having my back, " she snickered for a minute.

"What are sisters for?" I said warmly then made the best imitation of ruthlessness. "Now let's strategize. We have to talk to Mustafa because he has to be present to defend his company to a certain extent. He has nothing to worry about though because I will be saving the day. Also, you have to try to be yourself when you see Mustafa. I can understand the tension, unspoken words, the freshly bleeding emotions that will be very visible when the two of you meet but you have to realize that you have a company to defend and a reputation to uphold first before the fact that you owe your ex-husband a sincere apology."

She nodded.

"I will be at my best conduct."

"Good. Now, let's give the president a call, "

"Oh my God!" Cassie breathed sharply.

"Are you...scared right now?" I narrow my eyes infinitesimally.

"N-not at all. I was...just surprised."

"But you've been insisting that we waste no more time."

"Y-yes, that's right."

I couldn't help the smirk that sat so majestically on my lips. I'd never had to defend my family and the ones I loved in the presence of someone as high as the president of a nation and in this scenario, I was at an advantage. Do you know what it means to be wiser than the president of a nation?!

In all honesty, this was fun, way too fun.

After this friction is over, I should definitely be called up for an honorable promotion as a legal luminary. I should have nothing less than ten badges stapled on my jacket.

Focus, yemisi! The celebration will come on later.

Quickly, I start to swipe through my phone, remembering that the president had released his phone number to the press when he said he was looking for Cassie and Mustafa and was ready to reward anyone who is able to find them which of course meant that he was expecting a call from anyone, a commoner, a person of high class, or whoever to give him a call letting him understand that, Cassie and Mustafa could be found.

Immediately I found the screenshot containing his phone number, I input the digits on my phone and dial it. Clearing my throat and vowing to be as immaculate, fearless, and eloquent as possible, I hear the very voice of the president after the phone rang countlessly.

Three...two...one...

"Good day, your excellency. This is Barrister Yemisi Roberts on the phone. I have valid information on the whereabouts of Miss Cassandra Williams and Mr. Mustafa Ali and I shall uncover the information to you when we meet at the Muss Gemstones Limited, Garki, Abuja in a week exactly. I shall be looking forward to seeing you in all of your glory."

Exodus 14:14 - "The Lord will fight for you and you will hold your peace."

My apologies go to the Somalians who may have by chance read this. I certainly have no intention of slandering the country or it's president as this is all just a part of the fictitious nature of the story. I meant no harm whatsoever.
