Chapter 25: Chapter 25
Author’s POV
Past
Twelve years old Chase was in his room, getting ready for his evening boxing class when he heard the doorbell of his house ringing.
But he didn’t pay any attention to it and continued what he was doing.
If it was that old six years old Chase, he would have gotten all excited thinking that his father is home.
But after his mother’s death, all of the excitement has disappeared from his life. He has changed a lot.
Nothing excites him anymore. There is nothing in his life that makes him happy except two things.
One is his new found passion, boxing. It helps him let out the suppressed anger he has within himself, without hurting anyone.
And other is his older sister Valerie. He loves her a lot, probably more than himself.
After their mother’s death, she was the one who took care of him in absence of their father, who never actually paid attention to his growing kids.
He came out of his room after getting ready for his class. He looked around in the living room but he couldn’t find Valerie in the living room.
He checked the time on his wrist watch and it was four thirty in the evening. And he knew his sister would be in the kitchen at this time.
She loves cooking and always helps their maid in preparation of their dinner. She also likes learning the recipes for new dishes.
He put his bag on the couch and was about to make his way towards the kitchen to tell his sister that he is leaving for his boxing class, when he saw Valerie coming out of the kitchen along with their maid.
She had a glass of milk in her hand which she handed over to him with a smile on her face. He took the glass from her hand after thanking her with a smile. No one can care for him as much as she does.
“Are you leaving?” She asked when he put the empty glass on the table after drinking the milk.
Chase nodded his head as he replied, “I am going to be a little late tonight as we have some extra training today”.
He informed her so that she won’t worry for him.
Val nodded her head. Chase picked his bag from the couch slinging it over his shoulder and turned around to walk in the direction of the door.
His eyes momentarily fell on the box which was placed on the table. He guessed that it was delivery man who came earlier when he heard the doorbell of their house ringing.
He came out of the house and took out his bicycle. He is going to ride his bicycle on his way to the boxing class.
He was about to reach his destination when he heard his phone ringing.
He got off the bike and fished out his phone from his pocket.
He saw the caller ID and frowned in confusion. It was the telephone number of their house.
He answered the call, guessing that Val must be the one who is calling him. “Hello?” he spoke.
“How are you my boy?” the man on the other line said.
Chase’s brows knitted together when he heard the voice. He removed the phone from his ear to check the caller ID again and it was really the number of their house.
‘But who is this man calling him from their house?’
“Hello, who is this?” Chase asked in confusion.
“You didn’t recognize my voice? Its me your favourite coach.” the man on the other line said and Chase’s eyes widened in shock when realization hit him. It’s Albert, his former coach in his boxing academy.
“What are you doing at my house?” Chase asked in panic.
“I am here to meet your sister. I have to finish doing the thing you stopped me from doing that day” the man said on the line and Chase’s heart thumped against his chest.
A very uncomfortable feeling got settled in his gut.
“Don’t you dare touch my sister…” Chase was cut off when the Albert disconnected the call.
“You… hello? Hello?”
Chase started panicking. His palms were clamped, sweat beads formed on his forehead.
He quickly dialed Valerie’s number but it was switched off. His heartbeat quickened because of fear.
He decided to call their maid who was with Val when he left the house. But before he could dial her number he remembered what he heard when he was leaving the house earlier.
The maid was telling Val that she will leave sooner as she had somewhere to go. He even saw her leaving when he was getting his bike from the garage.
He sighed pushing his phone into his pocket again. He got on top of his bike and started making his way towards his house again.
The feeling of uneasiness is not going away since the moment he got the call from Albert.
Because Chase knows what kind of person Albert is. Not too long ago Chase saw how dirty that man is.
Albert was an instructor in the academy where Chase was learning boxing. He was good and one of Chase’s favourite among all the coaches.
But few days ago Chase saw him trying to molest a female student who attended the coaching with him and was probably same age as him.
He saw the girl crying because of how Albert was touching her and told the other instructor about it.
The matter became serious when the news reached the manager and he found out that Albert has been molesting this girl for days now and was also threatening her to not tell anything to anyone.
The manager immediately fired Albert but unfortunately he didn’t press any charges against him. As he didn’t want the reputation of their academy to be ruined because of him.
After that day Chase never saw him ever again. But it seemed like he is back for a revenge now.
Chase reached the house and got off of his bicycle. Luckily he was not very far from the house that is why it didn’t take him a lot of time to return.
He stormed towards the door of their house and found it slightly ajar.
He looked around to see if there is anyone who can help him but no one was here. Even their driver has taken a day off today.
On his way here, he called his father to tell him about the possible danger his sister might be in. But as always there was no response from his father.
Still he left a text message to his father informing him that there is a trespasser in their house.
Chase looked around once again in panic trying to figure out what he should do right now. He knows he is too young to face Albert alone.
So he did the thing which every individual in the situation of an emergency should do. He called the emergency number.
He was telling them about the trespasser in their house when he heard his sister’s scream coming from inside and his heart dropped in the pit of his stomach.
The phone fell from his hand. He instantly pushed the door open and entered inside. His eyes widened in shock when he saw the scene in front of his eyes.
He saw Val’s fragile body lying on the floor and trying to struggle out of the hold of giant like man who was hovering on top of her.
The bag Chase was holding in his hand fell on the floor making a thud sound which caught the attention of the other two present in the room.
Val’s tear filled eyes met with her younger brother who looked beyond shocked.
“Chase..” a cracked sob left her mouth as her struggles increased even more.
“So you are here my boy?” Albert asked.
Chase’s gaze moved to the man who was staring at him with a smirk on his lips. Valerie started struggling even more.
Albert put more pressure on her wrist which he was pinning beside her face and growled, “Stop moving around you b**ch”.
Chase’s hands balled into fists. His jaw clenched tight and his teary eyes filled with anger.
He stormed in their direction and pushed the man away from his sister with all his might.
Albert got pushed to the side not because Chase used all of his strength to push him but because he wanted to see what this little boy will do in order to save his sister from him.
Chase quickly kneeled beside Val and helped her up. Val instantly scooted away from the man taking Chase with her.
Seeing his sister’s crying face made Chase even more angry.
He shifted his angry gaze towards the man, causing his smirk to widen even more.
“What the hell are you doing to my sister, huh?” Chase shouted in anger.
“The exact thing you stopped me from doing that day to your little friend.” Albert replied while staring into chase’s eyes.
“I am not letting you touch my sister. Go away.” Chase shouted again feeling more and more angry.
It made Albert chuckle. He was liking the anger in this little kid’s innocent eyes.
He smirked evilly and asked, “And what can you even do? Protect her? From me? Look around there is no one here. How are you going to snitch on me this time, huh?”
The mockery in his tone didn’t go unnoticed.
Chase’s fists clenched tight as he replied with determination, “I will protect my sister from you. You will see….”.
He was going to threaten him by telling him that police is on the way but his words died in his throat and his eyes widened due to fear when Albert’s smirk grew even more sinister.
Albert got up on his feet and asked while staring down right in the little boy’s angry gray orbs, “And how will you do it? How are you going to protect her from me?”
A shiver went down both Val and chase’s spine. The coldness in his eyes and venom in his tone was scary.
Chase gulped in fear. Val mustered all her courage and took Chase’s hand in hers. She got up on her feet, taking Chase with her.
She has decided to run out of the house first and get help from someone outside as they are alone at home today.
Their driver took a leave today. Even their maid had some appointments that is why she left early.
She wants to protect her brother. She started running with Chase but they couldn’t even run few steps away when Albert came running towards them and stood in front of them.
Both Chase and Valerie were shivering due to fear. After all both of them are just kids.
Valerie is just sixteen years old girl who is trapped inside her own house with this psychopath who has some kind of beef with her twelve years old brother.
This man has even broken her phone so she can’t call anyone for help.
She is blaming herself for even opening the door. Usually both Valerie and Chase never open the door for strangers when they are alone.
Valerie wasn’t going to open the door for this man but when he said that he is a delivery man who came earlier, she opened the door. Because he said that he delivered a wrong parcel by mistake and needed to replace it.
Valerie didn’t think much of the situation and opened the door to return the box which was delivered earlier.
But this man literally barged into the house, broke her mobile phone. When she tried to run away, he manhandled her using his masculine body which was like a giant in front of her small fragile figure.
“Where are you running off too?” Albert asked as he locked the door behind him and started taking slow steps towards the kids.
Both Chase and Valerie started backing away from him.
“Let us go, please” Valerie begged.
“I am sorry beautiful. I wouldn’t have come here to disturb you. But this stupid little brother of yours likes to meddle into other people’s business” he moved his gaze to glare at Chase and continued.
“And I have to teach him a lesson for that. So whatever happens to you today, it’s his fault” he completed while pointing his finger towards Chase.
Valerie gulped in fear. The look this man had in his eyes when he looked at Chase was creepy. As if he had some kind of grudge against the boy and it scared Valerie.
Her hold on Chase’s hand tightened. She took another step back and swiftly turned around and started running taking Chase with her.
But this time as well her attempt went in vain. This time Albert grabbed her hairs into a tight fist and yanked her towards himself.
A scream left her mouth as both her hands came up to wrap around Albert’s fist. Tears started flowing from her eyes as she felt like her scalp is on fire.
Chase’s eyes widened upon hearing his sister’s soul piercing scream. He saw how painfully Albert was grabbing Valerie’s hairs.
That is why despite the fear in his heart, Chase stormed towards him and started throwing punches at him in attempt to make him lose his grip on Valerie’s hair.
Valerie was struggling too to get out of his hold but both of their attempts were going in vain in front of this man who was almost double the size of both of their sizes combined.
Getting irritated by both of these kid’s struggle, Albert groaned in frustration and pushed Valerie hard causing her to fall on the floor with a thud.
Chase’s eyes widened hearing his sister’s scream. It made him even more angry and he started throwing more punches on Albert.
Chase was still a kid but his punches were still managing to hurt Albert as Chase had good skills. But it was still not enough to compete against a man like Albert.
Albert pushed Chase away using his whole strength. Chase stumbled back on his feet and fell hard on the floor, getting a little hurt in the process.
Albert started walking in the direction of Valerie who was trying to crawl towards her brother. At this point she was very exhausted due to all the struggles she has been putting since the moment Albert entered into their house.
Chase saw him moving towards his sister and he didn’t want him anywhere near her.
Gathering his whole strength Chase got up on his feet again and strode towards him to stop him from going towards his sister.
Albert saw him approaching and kicked him in his gut, making him fall on the floor again and groan in pain.
“Chase…” Valerie shouted and scooted closer to her brother but before she could touch Chase, Albert came there and again pushed her away.
He bent down to grab Chase by his collar and pulled him up harshly in one swift movement.
“You can’t do anything little boy except for seeing me ruining your sister’s life, just like you ruined my moment with your friend that day” he growled low on Chase’s face.
“Don’t touch my sister…” Chase gritted out making Albert chuckle at his audacity to show anger in this situation.
He kept chuckling for few seconds making Chase confused. Suddenly he stopped laughing and in an instant his face turned hard, eyes ice cold.
Without any effort he picked Chase off of the ground and threw him away with force.
The sound of glass shattering echoed in the room. He threw the poor kid on the tea table which was made of glass.
Chase groaned in immense pain. At this point his body was starting to bleed because of the broken glass piercing through his skin.
Valerie crawled towards her brother who was squirming in pain on the floor. His eyes were clamped shut while he was whimpering in pain.
Seeing him in pain was making Valerie to cry even more. She reached her hand forward to touch her brother’s bruised forehead which was bleeding.
But before her hand could touch him, she was dragged away by her hairs. She screamed in pain.
Chase opened his eyes and turned his face around to look at his sister who was struggling and crying in the hold of the crazy man.
“Leave… leave my sister alone… why are you doing this?” Chase stuttered through his pain. At the same time he was trying to get up but failed.
“You should have left me alone and shouldn’t have meddled in my business. Because of you I lost my job. My reputation was tampered because of your useless nosiness” he grated.
“Now you have to get punished for your mistake, don’t you? And I will make your sister face the consequences of your useless actions” he said while pulling on to Valerie’s hair, as brutally as possible.
It made Chase gulp in fear. Yes Chase was just a kid to read people’s expressions and intentions just by looking into their eyes. But anyone can tell at this moment that Albert is a psychopath.
The look Albert has in his eyes right now is not that of a normal human being who is angry, it is something else. And that look in his eyes is scaring the hell out of Chase.
His psychotic gaze is enough to creep out a grown adult and Chase is still just a kid.
Albert was liking the fear in the little boy’s eyes but he felt ecstatic when he saw the anger in his eyes. It gave him some kind of satisfaction as if he was seeing himself in that little kid.
He was fascinated by the fact that this little boy never for once begged in front of him.
He wanted to see him beg. So to make Chase do what he wants, he pushed the girl who was in his hold and pressed his palm over her neck, slightly chocking her.
Chase’s eyes widened at his action. Fresh tears were stinging his eyes. He tried getting up again but couldn’t.
“You want to save your sister from me right?” He asked. Chase moved his gaze from his sister to glare at Albert causing his smirk to widen.
“Then beg in front of me. Try begging for mercy. I might leave your sister alone” Albert said while staring into Chase’s eyes like a maniac.
“What?” Chase frowned in confusion at his words.
“If you want me to leave your sister alone then beg and if not…” Albert trailed off as he started tightening his hold around Valerie’s neck making her whimper in pain.
“Val… please…please I request you. Please let my sister go… I beg you” Chase begged trying to get on his knees. Tears were now flowing from his eyes.
The smirk which was adorning Albert’s face until now, vanished as soon as he heard his words.
He didn’t get the satisfaction that he wanted. He didn’t expect Chase to beg so easily. He thought Chase would get angry upon hearing his words.
“So easily? Aren’t you angry anymore?” He asked Chase with gritted teeth.
“Please… leave my sister alone…” Chase begged again on his knees.
“This is not what I wanted. This is not WHAT I F**KING WANTED?” Albert shouted causing both Chase and Valerie to flinch at his tone.
He looked down at Valerie and started mumbling to himself, “You must get punished for not giving me what I wanted”.
Chase heard him. His eyes widened when Albert started trailing his hand starting from her face to down making Valerie cry out in fear and disgust.
He was hovering on top of her and was about to cover the distance between their faces when he heard Chase growling to his side.
He shifted his gaze back to the little kid and was taken aback when he saw Chase picking up the big piece of broken glass in his hand and storm towards him.
Before he could realize what is going on, Chase had already stabbed him in his stomach.
Valerie’s eyes widened and a scream left her mouth upon seeing what her brother just did.
Chase pushed Albert away from his sister. His eyes were filled with rage as he glared at Albert who was pushed to the side. His stomach was bleeding.
“Didn’t I told you to stay away from my sister, HUH?” Chase shouted.
At the same time the door of their house burst open. All three heads whipped in the direction of the door.
The piece of glass fell from Chase’s hand as his body froze when he saw his father and police entering their house and he realized what he has just done.
His tear filled gaze dropped to his trembling hands which were covered in blood. Then he shifted his eyes to look at his sister who was staring at him with terror in her eyes.
“Val…” he uttered after swallowing the lump in his throat with great difficulty but was cut off when he heard the sound of someone chuckling.
It was not loud enough for everyone present in the room to hear but Chase heard it. He turned around to find the source of the sound.
He gulped when he saw the look in Albert’s eyes. The expressions of surprise were all gone. Right now he had an evil smirk plastered on his face.
Chase’s body stilled and breath got stuck in the back of his throat when he heard Albert whisper under his breath but Chase heard him.
‘Yes, this is what I wanted from you my boy’.
