Chapter 56: Chapter 56
Sophia's POV
The very second I stepped out of the room where Jace was, I felt uneasy. Something seemed uncanny about the environment, but I couldn't lay hand on anything.
I looked around to check if there was any sign of strange movements or whatever, but nothing was different. It was still early in the morning and the guards were yet to wake, except those guarding the outside.
Taking slow but steady steps down the stairs, I still felt disturbed. My instincts were urging me to go back and check on Jace, which I don't know why, as that was where I just came out from. He's tied to the peak and can only shake his head because the ropes would hurt him if he tried to wiggle out his hands or legs.
A gasp slipped my lips as I picked up a bottle of vodka from the bar. I need to clear my head and start planning the most effective way to find Lola. It was great news that she is alive, as that only means there is hope, but then, I don't know how much love Jace has for her.
I had mentioned using a magic spell to control his mind, but that is a very risky method that can end up getting all fucked up because he might be killed by the vampires in the process of getting Lola. The best plan is only if he is willing to help me find Lola.
I can help him cover his wolf scent while he goes into the vampire clan and lures Lola into my grasp, but with how strong-headed he seemed, I don't think he will ever do that. My greatest fear is that he might end up running away with Lola when they meet.
Gosh!
Everything is messed up, and all I can think of is torturing him with all kinds of poison and acid. I want to make him feel the greatest pain ever, which would make him pray for death. Then he will have no choice but to do as I say to escape the continuous torture.
I am just confused as hell. How am I even sure that Lola is still in the vampire clan? What if Blake had helped her to run far away? How will I know where she is? How will Jace also locate her so as to help me bring her back?
Was I messing things up even more by depending on Jace? It is obvious Jace doesn't even know where she is right now. He only believes Lola is alive but doesn't know where she is and can't help me find her.
I believe Lola loves him, and that will make her feel it inside her when Jace dies. Yes! It might make her come back from wherever she is to be sure it wasn't all true. She might come back to this pack to check on Jace, and that will be my opportunity to capture her since I will sense her presence once she steps into her.
Fuck!
Why hadn't I thought of this all this time while I had been making him feel like he was so important? I need to end his miserable life and face this all alone. I am sure to win! I am certain that in a few months, this pack will lie in ruin!
I gulped down the entire vodka down my gullet and could feel the heat strike my brain. Anger was boiling in me and the liquor just ended up making me mad. All I can think of is butchering Jace like an animal, and that's what I am going to do now.
With a sharp move, I spring from the couch, flipping my hair and gritting my teeth while stomping over to the kitchen to get a sharp knife. I will shatter his hope of surviving death. Yes, I saw how happy he was because I wouldn't be killing him again, but now he will be faced with the greatest shock of his life when I give him the first slash.
My breath was rough and I was feeling the monster in me rising like a storm, ready to consume whatever was in front of it.
Getting into the kitchen, I located the knife rack and took three of different sizes before dashing out almost immediately, but just as I made to climb the stairs, someone gripped my left arm and drew me back so I almost fell on my butt.
"What are you planning to do with those knives?" The voice of Torian rang in my head, forcing me to look up at him as I grunted in rage.
"Fuck off!" I snapped. I was not ready to talk to him, so I wouldn't end up stabbing him, as I was too furious right now. Anyone who tried to stop me will not survive death.
I spun and hurried up the stairs while my hair danced in front of my face. Just when I thought Torian had become sensible enough not to try holding me back, he ran past me and stood in my way, spreading his arms.
"I won't let you go into his room and kill him. Never! You can't kill my friend in my presence, and if you think you must do that, then be ready to fight this entire pack singlehandedly!" He threatened, and all I could do was stare at him from head to toe.
All I wondered was where he got the balls. It is clear that the charm has left his eyes, but does that also make him stupid enough to think he can stop me with guards or whatever?
"Torian, you make your choice now. Give way or die with him!" I sneered impatiently as I drew out one of the kitchen knives I was holding, stretching it at him.
"If you take a step closer, I will scream and everyone will come out and see you trying to kill me. I know you are working for the demons. You won't want me to reveal your true identity, so stay put and go to the room. Let's talk things out! I can help keep you safe" He assured me, proudly smiling.
His smile curved into a smirk while he awaited my answer. He really expected me to be in shock and fear. In his mind, I'd be afraid that he would scream or I'd be fretting because he had found out my true identity.
"Torian, what choice are you making? You have three seconds left!" I huffed and there came sparkles of fear glinting through his eyes as he squinted at me.
I was clear he never expected that response from me, not when he just spilled my secret.
"Oh, you must be brave...." My patience ran out. That was all he could say because, at the speed of light, I attacked him, not giving him a single chance to get hold of me as I slashed the knife through his back, down to his legs.
He shouted in pain, and that made me angrier, forcing me to stab his belly deep. He yelped and stared at me with wide eyes filled with terror.
"You thought I was joking? And for your information, no one can hear your shout or grunt. I have soundproofed this hallway. Die in peace!" I snorted and drew out the knife, smirking at the crimson blade while he fell to his knees, making blood-curdling sounds while struggling to breath.
"Fool" I scoffed, and sped to the room where Jace was. I was at high speed but screeched to a stop the moment I saw the door was ajar. I can't remember ever leaving it unlocked, let alone opened wide like this.
Something crossed my mind and made me shudder in panic, but I shrugged it off as a lie. I can't believe I just had a thought that Jace had escaped. That is the last thing that can ever happen.
With a slow stride and a fast pacing heartbeat, I padded in, my eyes fluttering as I expected Jace to still be there.
"What!!!" My lips screamed as I stared at an empty room with only the chair and rope. Jace was missing. The dead body was gone too.
How can this not be a dream?
How is this reality and not some sort of illusion? How can anyone explain that someone came into this room and in not up to an hour, he was able to rescue Jace? Which path did he or she sneak through that I didn't notice?
My eyes darted at the window and I could see the curtain hanging as it had always been, but the sun radiation behind was brighter, so I scurried closer and swiped it, only to see that the iron rod barricading the window had been broken away.
This was the path they followed. Now another question sets in: who is so strong as to break those rods?
I began to hear noise from outside, followed by numerous footsteps that I could tell there was chaos outside, which I knew was because of the blood and lifeless body of Torian that must have been found.
The door of the room was banged open at that moment, making me spin to the door to see the Alpha standing there glaring at me while fuming in extreme anger.
"What happened to my son!!!" He thundered at me, trailing his eyes down to the knife I was holding. I could see how his eyes glinted when he saw me holding the knife.
"You stabbed him?" You stabbed my son with that knife?" His voice went deeper and scarier this time as he began to pace forward. Five more bodyguards were following him now.
"Jace is missing! I saw these knives here! It could only mean one thing. Whoever rescued Jace was the same person that stabbed my mate!" I burst into a loud cry of fake agony.
"Jace is gone?" The alpha and guards all gasped as their eyes scanned through the room.
"How is my mate? Did he die? Please tell me he is alive and will be fine after being treated by the doctors! Please!!" I screeched, shaking and hitting my fist on the ground to show how devastated I was.
"He was badly injured, but not dead. Oh my God! Who could come in here and save Jace? If it just happened now, then they must be around. " The Alpha paused and turned to the bodyguard.
"Arrange a thorough search with every warrior and hunter. Shut all exits and ring the bell of instant curfew, then search every packhouse, every crook and cranny. They must be found! " He yelled in exasperation and turned back at me.
"Please take it easy on yourself and I am very sorry to accuse you," he soothed, helping me up to stand.
"Please, I would like to stay with Torian all through every medical operation. I want to make sure he is coping. My mate did nothing wrong to face such injury" I sobbed, praying he would accept so I would have the chance to end him at once so he wouldn't tell anyone I was the one who did all that to him.
I can't believe Torian was able to survive such cuts and stabs. When the hell did he become so rigid? I was sure I stabbed it in the critical place in his abdomen.
"Okay, just calm down. I trust my son. He will sur...
I heard his words come to an end as he released his grip on my hands and started walking toward something that was behind the chair where Jace was.
"They dropped a letter," he mumbled, picking it up and unfolding it.
"What?" He screamed in horror and quickly hid the paper inside his back pocket.
"Lola is alive and not only that, she is a wolf and vampire hybrid," he mused, both eyes widened in shock as he looked terrified.
Now he must have realized that Lola is the only one able to destroy him. The only one that can open that door and destroy all of his dark powers.
