Chapter 35: Chapter 35
Blake's POV.
Never in my life have I been this confused. My eyes were on the girl that was just whipped, and I can't tell why i was feeling concerned about her cries. She was in deep pain and had even fallen off the desk when the men stopped hitting her, showing how exhausted she was.
I watched her eyes shut as she lost consciousness. My brows arched when my heart clenched with a little pain, which I don't know where it crept in. It hurt me that the strange girl was beaten to the extent of fainting.
Why? Who is she?
That was the question I asked myself while gazing at her face.
"How dare you stop what I was doing?" I heard someone yell, but as much as I wanted to check who it was, I still couldn't take my eyes off the tortured girl who was motionless on the floor with her legs bleeding.
She had been flogged so brutally that her skin was torn and swollen. I kept wondering what she must have done. From her appearance and scent, she was a werewolf and not a vampire or demon, so why would they treat her this way?
"Torian, I never knew you were a monster, an evil and heartless creature that should rot in hell." I heard Jace yell back, and the name Torian made a significant strike in my memory.
It seemed like I had heard the name before, but where and when was what I couldn't remember.
I raised my head and looked around only to see all the girls staring at me with wet eyes filled with admiration. I could see them primping and drooling. Some will look away shyly when my eyes meet theirs.
Yuck! so disgusting.
"Jace, you have no right to put an end to this. Do you know what Lola did? She spat on my mate's face. She really had the guts to spurt her dirty, smelly spit into Sophia's ear!" The guy Jace just called Torian thundered, and I was forced to look at him. With his aura, I guessed he must have alpha blood. He possessed authority, and everyone was literally afraid of him.
"What if I do? Look, she has fainted! Do you want her dead?" Jace bawled in great anger, walking over to where she lay.
"If you touch her, I will fight you till you die!" Torian threatened, and those words really made me shudder as my brows arched in amazement.
"Please don't risk your life..." Another feminine voice was heard, and I turned to see a young girl holding Jace's hand with tears all over her eyes.
She looked like his lover and was the girl who was almost flogged too. Jace had saved her first, immediately he got into the class.
"You mean I should let Lola die?" He growled while breathing heavily.
"I don't want her dead either, but you stand no chance with Torian. I don't want to lose you. Lola might also be killed afterwards, making your sacrifice useless," she whimpered, kneeling to beg him.
Wow....
The werewolves are really interesting.
"Now go back to your seat," Torian ordered Jace, snorting.
"She should not die! Remember she remains your first mate even when you've rejected her." Jace ranted, but Torian seemed too angry to listen to him.
"Now guys, let's check if she is acting as if she has fainted by giving her three whips on her face. Make sure it creates a visible tear!" This was the next statement I heard from Torian, and it made my heart skip a beat as I felt more pangs in my heart.
My gaze flashed at the poor girl, and her beautiful face made me feel so bad to hear that it would be smeared with scars.
I hated the werewolves so much and was only waiting for Jace to take me to where I would sit. Nothing about them should trouble me, not even the dying girl.
But then, why is my heart pounding as the teacher approaches the tortured girl with the whip in her hand? Why do I feel the greatest urge to defend her?
"Jason, I am sorry for keeping you standing. Let's go and sit. I will introduce you after he is done," Jace mumbled to me weakly, with tears in his eyes, as he threw another glance at the girl on the floor.
There was deep pain in his eyes and that of the girl beside him. They were hopeless and only wished they had the power to save her.
" Come and show me where the clinic is. I want to take her there." Before I could think of holding those words back, they slipped out of my lips and not only did Jace cringe and stare with a gaping mouth, the entire class made an uproar...
"Are you serious? You know you will be fighting with Torian?" Jace's girl exclaimed, fluttering her eyes.
"I might end up killing him if he dares try to stop me." I scoffed and walked to where the unconscious girl was.
I carried her into my arms and it was like a sensation came like a dew fall washing through my entire being. Our skin was touching each other, and I don't know how I was feeling, but all I knew was that it was so sweet.
"Who are you and how dare you!!" Torian growled, and I saw he was trying to shift into his beast. I couldn't help giggling. I don't think he will survive a single punch from me.
"Jace, what are you waiting for?" I half yelled with a frown, drifting him from his world of fear as he hastily stepped forward to lead me away alongside his girl, who wouldn't leave his side for a second.
"You are a dead meat, newbie," Torian thundered threateningly from behind and I sneered at him with rage slipping into me.
"Please spare him... My name is Sophia...." The girl beside him suddenly chipped in, smiling sheepishly at me, and I couldn't help snorting disgustingly at her.
Who asked for her name? And she just pleaded for Torian to spare me. If only she knew she had just saved Torian's life.
I rolled my eyes and walked out, swaddling the young girl carefully in my arms, trying not to tamper with the wounds on her body.
Lola's POV
I was in intense pain and couldn't move my body. Every part of my butt seemed like it was on fire as hot tears seared my eyes with pain while my lips quivered and shook while I cried. There was no strength to save myself as the men were far more powerful than me and each was holding my hands and feet tightly.
Every lash from the whip was as if life was being pulled away from me. The more I cried, the more they went on. It was so clear that they wanted me dead, and I think they would really succeed today, as breathing was equally hard right now. I had also lost my voice to scream.
It was at that moment that Jace came in. I heard his voice and saw a glimpse of him attacking one of the students, but there was still no strength to leave the desk where I was lying. My legs are sore and full of bruises, not to talk of my butt, which I don't think I can sit with anymore.
I was already losing consciousness when that sweet, earthly, intoxicating scent of Blake hit my nose again. At first, I shrugged, thinking it was an illusion, as I was never to believe Blake was inside the class. But the smell kept getting stronger and seemed to be coming closer to me. Now I can even feel his presence around me.
But my strength failed me as I fell off the desk and everything blacked out.
I thought I was dead, only to wake up now and find myself on a bed with the pain reduced as if I had been given medical treatment. I knew Jace wouldn't be able to help me out of the hand of Torian, especially as he was bent on killing me.
Who was then able to save me? Or am I in heaven? Is there a bed there?
I finally opened my eyes and the bright day flashed in, causing me to shut my eyes as I felt a headache hit me hard with my eyes seared with pain from the sudden sunlight.
Now it was clear I was alive and being treated. The smell of herbs and medicinal materials filled my nostrils, making it clear that I was in the school clinic. Someone really saved me from the hand of Torian.
Just then, as I racked my brain to remember, someone patted my forehead so gently and tenderly, as if he was afraid I would feel the slightest pain.
The contact of his palm to my skin sent an electrifying effect all through me, and I felt my body throb. The feelings were something I had never felt before and it left my heart racing so fast that I found it hard to breathe.
Who is this?
I asked myself as I forced my eyes open slowly.
"Blake!!!" My scream dropped off my lips as I cringed and stared in shock and awe, seeing the last person I had ever expected. He was peering into my face.
