Chapter 37: Chapter 37

Aviena's POV

"What is that? Are we moving? ” I frowned and looked at River who was carrying a whole truck to meet my family. He didn't tell me about this. I don't know if I should be ashamed because there are so many things he bought.

“You said your grandma likes furniture, your Auntie Madeth likes plants and your Auntie Puschia likes bags. The rest is for your sister, nephews, and niece,” he said to me so I just felt sorry for him.

“That’s a lot! It can just be dumped at home!” I said. With just the plant that he will give to Aunt Madeth, it looks like she can make a garden with it.

"Then let's just widen your house." My, the audacity of him to make the house adjust!

I'm just shaking because it looks like he's planning to add some more purchases if I just didn't stop him.

"Wow! It's so many! I'm sure Grandma will be happy!” Big Sister said with a wide smile as she looked at everything River had bought. Yes, I was happy for my family but it was also really embarrassing for River.

Big Sister got in River's car first while excitedly texting our family in Baguio. I also got in the shotgun seat, and so did River who would be driving. The truck just followed us.

“Seriously, you're so rich, River? Aviena is really lucky to have you! If I were you, Vena, I wouldn't let your husband go,” Big Sister said to me, still laughing.

"Someone who was given projects and other resources, of course, you will fall there," she added. I don’t know if this indicates that I fell for River because of his wealth. I can't stop frowning because of that.

Big Sister also asked River so questions that I didn't pay attention to anymore. It's good that River gets along with my family. I was also busy watching scooby doo on our way.

We soon got home as well. I immediately saw Auntie Puschia gambling right across the house. I stopped there. These are her friends from our old house. Did they move here too?

"Oh, my niece is already here," she said with a wide smile.

"I told you, I have your fare for free." Auntie Puschia laughed with her friends. I just kept frowning as I stared at them.

"Your bank is already here, Puschia." They were still laughing so I just kept looking at them. I was also a little ashamed that River will even hear these things.

Auntie immediately sat up when she saw that I wasn't the only one here now.

"Oh, you have someone with you, Hija!" She said with a wide smile on me now. I just smiled slightly there.

"Where's grandma po?" I just asked because I also don't want to argue and receive any insults from her.

“Granddaughter! You are already here,” grandma said who immediately hugged me but I could see her frowning at River when she saw him. I can't help but be pouted because I'm sure Grandma will make his life miserable for a while. Grandma hates the fact that I got married to someone she didn't even meet.

As soon as Marieta came out, her eyes are already rolling. I can't help but laugh softly because sometimes I wonder where my sister gets her attitude.

"Grandma, Aunt, Marieta, this is River my husband," I introduced River to them. This guy never really wavered but I could see him swallowing so I laughed softly before I gently nudge him.

"Are you nervous?" I smiled and whispered to him. He was silenced because of that. He didn't even deny it either so I was really fascinated while looking at him.

He even held out his hand to them, the reason why my Grandma and sister just raised their brows at him.

"I'm River, nice to meet you." He slowly removed his hand that was outstretched because they just look at him. I couldn’t help but pout.

"Let's go inside, we prepared food for you," grandma said who just passed by River. Instead of rejoicing I couldn’t help but worry for River. I don't want him to experience how his family treated me behind his back. I just don't want him to feel it too.

"Grandma, don't be hard on him," I said to grandma when she held me while smiling at me.

“Of course not. I treat him well,” she said so I just shook my head.

We ate for a while, and only the kids were screaming. Auntie Madeth was actually happy to finally meet River while my sister, Marieta, and grandma were the one who was trying their best to intimidate River. I don’t know if I’ll laugh there or feel sorry for River who is just quiet. He's respectfully answering when my family has a question.

"I personally want to say sorry for not being able to meet you for the past few months," he said. It's not his fault at all. He always bring that in our conversation but I was always the one who cut him out. I'm not ready yet.

“It's good that you thought of facing us. I thought we wouldn't know you for the rest of our lives. You got married without even saying something to us,” Grandma said who lowered her fork just to face River.

“Grandma, it’s my fault for that one. I'm sorry I didn't introduce River to you right away,” I said so Grandma just raised an eyebrow at me.

"And we would also like to invite you to our wedding," I said as I handed the invitation to them. Only close friends and just some relatives will go.

“Really? Will you get married again, Big Sister? Am I a bridesmaid?” I immediately saw the excitement on my sister Marieta’s face so I couldn’t help but laugh. So that's what she wants all along.

"Yup," I nodded. My nephews and nieces immediately jumped for joy. We will take them all too.

River and I was the one who plan our wedding this time. We are the ones who set the date and everything. We'll make it as we want it to be which is really good.

I couldn’t help but grin before I sat there. They were excited about the wedding. Even Grandma was the same. After all, no one had really got married who prepared a lot in our family. Auntie Puschia and Uncle Bernard didn't get married while Auntie Madeth and her boyfriend broke up before their wedding. Aunt Madeth realizes that her boyfriend was cheating on her. Fortunately, he was caught before she was tied up there. My parents, on the other hand, got married but they were in the municipality.

"I still don't forgive you for not inviting me to your wedding on the beach but fine go ahead and you already have plus points," Marieta said to River but still rolled her eyes. I just laughed there.

"Your sister really looks like you," River told me with a laugh so I shrugged.

He really tried his best for the past few days we stayed in Baguio. He did not pass Marieta and Grandma with the gift but he gradually gained the courage to follow their orders. I was also able to stay here for a while because Uncle Bernard was not there, it looks like he is with his other wife again.

“Are you really going to garden that all?” I asked, frowning at him. Auntie ask him if he could remove some weeds. Because he was so showy, he will really garden today.

"I will, that's what your Auntie wants," he said so I narrowed my eyes at him. I was actually here in the shadow of our pine tree while wearing my hat while he was busy gardening. The sun is straight but it's not that hot so he looks fine.

I just took food inside because he had been there earlier but when I came back my forehead furrowed when I saw Big Sister talking to him. A towel is even handed to him. River did not accept that and continued what he was doing. When Big Sister saw me, she smiled at me before waving and proceeded to leave. I just shrugged before approaching River.

"What did Big Sister say?" I ask.

"She's giving me a towel, it's hot," he said as if not interested. I just shrugged my shoulders there before placing the food on my seat earlier. He also approached and was able to take off his t-shirt he was wearing because I also took him one. The brute even throws the t-shirt in my face.

"What the heck?" I asked as I give him a glare. He just laughed at me. I couldn't help but look at his body. From his 8-pack abs down to his — he sneezed so I laughed. His soldier immediately stood up.

“Back to work! Don't fantasize about it!” I laughed at him so he immediately gave me an annoyed look.

"You were the one who's thinking insolent things!" he said with a reddened ear before sitting in the chair opposite me. I just laughed looking at him.

"Why are you angry again?" I laughed questioning him so he just gave me a bad look.

"Did you already invite your family?" I asked him while sipping my drink. He also managed to drink it, I just looked at him because he hadn't told his family yet.

“I already told them and they said that they will come. Tashi and Kuya said their congrats to us,” he said so I smiled and nodded.

We plan to get married in Caleruega, Batangas. It's just a simple wedding.

"Go back to work, you still have a lot to finish," I told him with a laugh when I saw that he still had too much to do.

He could have done nothing but continue that. He wanted to do that. He doesn't have any choice.

That night, he immediately fell into bed because he was so tired.

"Big Brother River looks so in love with you, Big Sister," Marieta said when we were outside the house to look at the sky.

"I'm happy that you finally meet the one," she said to me so I just smiled before nodding.

"I hope you know that I just want happiness for you, Big Sister," she said so I couldn't help but mess up her hair.

"I know. Just go to sleep, you still have school tomorrow, don't you? Don't grow up so fast. Big Sister still wants to baby you,” I told her. My sister is so mature to think that sometimes she doesn't even want to ask me when she needs to pay for tuition and other school fees.

“I’ll stay here for a while. You still have a lot to do. It's your finals,” I said so she nodded before leaving. He could have done nothing but follow me.

I just smiled when I followed him with my gaze into the house. I was just happy that everything was going on for what I wanted it to be.

Gradually, the smile disappeared from my lips when I saw Uncle entering the house while dragging Ruby's hair which was just buying something outside.

I could see the shock on Ruby's face when she saw me while Uncle was just angry looking at her.

My lips parted, even more, when I saw how Uncle slapped Ruby in a rage.

What I know is my blood is already boiling with what I saw.
