Chapter 83: Chapter 83
President Ethan walked into his office, and dropped the suitcase he was carrying on the table as he adjusted his tie.
All of a sudden, the thought of what happened that morning flashed back into his memory. He couldn't help but smile crazily.
“Valerie and I actually slept on the same bed, and we even cuddled.”
Just then, he heard a faint knock on the door. “Who is it?”
“It's me, Sir. Claire.” The tiny voice said. Claire was actually his secretary.
With a deep sigh of relief, he deeply replied. “Come in.”
The door swung open and Claire walked in, panicking. It was obvious that she was scared. “President, I apologize for not sending the PDF of the document. I know that I'm going to lose my job because of this, but I just wanted to apologize.”
Ethan stared at her for a while and smiled. Claire was shocked to see him smile at her because he rarely does. She could even tell how many times he had smiled in front of her since the two years that she had been working as his secretary. As a matter of fact, she was expecting him to yell at her or simply walk her out of Davison's company forever.
“Sir?” She called out after a few minutes without him saying anything but smiling.
“Yes… Yes? You were saying?” He gulped.
“You haven't been listening, sir. I said I couldn't send the PDF and…” Claire was still speaking when Ethan interrupted her.
“It's fine, Miss Claire. You can just go back to your office and send the PDF when you're free” Ethan replied.
Claire's eyes almost bulged out of their sockets. She was shocked because that wasn't the reaction she was expecting to get. “Sir?”
“Just go ahead and send the PDF later.” Ethan said, and she thanked him immensely before walking out of the office, wondering what brought the sudden change of attitude.
Furthermore, Claire walked to her table and dropped her files on the table. She was still mute, “Hey, Claire. Are you here to pack your stuff?”
“Shut up, Jane. You're so loud. Actually, the president didn't terminate my contract.” Claire smirked.
Jane, Claire's colleague, narrowed her eyes in shock. “What? He didn't?”
“Yes, he didn't. I guess he's in a good mood.” Claire replied and faced her desktop, leaving Jane wondering.
“The president is in a good mood? That's rare.”
Meanwhile, Valerie was busy in the kitchen preparing fish soup for Audrey. On the other hand, Audrey was busy with her home classes.
The home teacher, Miss Vicky, sat in front of her, munching her popcorn noisily. The little Audrey couldn't help but glare at her in disgust.
“Miss Vicky, can you please eat properly? Why do you always chew noisily? Besides, you shouldn't be eating while teaching, am I right?” The smart little girl snorted.
Glaring at her, Miss Vicky belched noisily. Disgusted, Audrey turned her gaze away. This was one of the reasons why she hated her, and wished that her father could get her another home tutor. “You little brat! What makes you think you have the right to correct me? I'm your teacher, and whatever I do is right.”
“Gosh! I don't think I'm Ethan Davison's daughter because why would he get me an uncultured teacher like you.” Audrey shook her head.
Belching again, Miss Vicky gulped down the orange squash noisily. “If you hate me so much and don't want to see my face, you should copy it immediately so that I can go back home. I'm so sleepy.”
“Yuck! I hate you, Miss Vicky.” Audrey ran out of the study room.
The obese Miss Vicky struggled up from the chair and ran after her. But before she could catch up, Audrey was already downstairs. “Come back here, you little brat!”
She rushed straight to the kitchen when Valerie was cooking and hugged her tightly.
“Audrey, why are you here? Shouldn't you be upstairs in the study room with your home teacher?” Valerie patted her hair.
Upon hearing that, Audrey shook her head negatively. “I don't want to go back there. In fact, I don't want Miss Vicky as my home tutor anymore. She stinks, and she's so fat.”
“What? What did she…” Valerie was still talking when Miss Vicky stormed into the kitchen, panting as if she had run a marathon.
“You little witch, are you going to make me lose my breath before you concentrate on your studies?” Vicky almost lost her breath, speaking.
Valerie gulped. “I'm sorry she's giving you a hard time, Miss Vicky. I think you should give her a few minutes' break.”
“Why should I? I can't…” Vicky was still talking but paused when she farted loudly.
Valerie gasped in shock, while Audrey shook her head in disappointment. “Such a disgrace.”
…
A few hours later, Audrey laughed hysterically as she narrated Miss Vicky's dramas whenever she's taking lessons.
“I seriously don't know that that is what you go through every time she teaches you at home.” Valerie laughed.
“Miss old-fashioned, this is just a peak of it. She does a lot worse when she's with me.” Audrey continued.
Valerie shook her head. “Unbelievable!”
Immediately, Audrey rushed to Valerie, massaging her shoulder softly. “You know I love you, right, Miss old-fashioned? I love you so much, and I'll do anything so that you'll be happy.”
Valerie burst into laughter, of course, she knows what the little girl was up to. “Spill it! What do you want?”
On hearing that, Audrey jumped for joy and held Valerie's hands. “Please help me convince daddy that I don't want that fat, disgusting lady, Miss Vicky.”
“I'll think about that.” Valerie smirked.
“Please, Miss old-fashioned. Please…” Audrey pleaded and Valerie hugged her. Of course, that was a yes.
That night, President Ethan was seated at the poolside when someone came to see him. He turned to him with narrowed brows. “Tell me, have you found any information considering what I told you to investigate?”
The man nodded in agreement. “Yes, sir. Miss Valerie Watson is actually Audrey's biological mother.”
“What?”
