Chapter 59: Chapter 59

Audrey couldn't stop singing and jumping in excitement. She was already prepared for the carnival, and couldn't help but wait impatiently for Valerie to come out of the servant's quarters.

Meanwhile, Anastasia, who was closely watching Valerie, saw her walk into the bathroom. She quickly sighted her phone on the bed, where she had dropped the phone beside her purse.

Without hesitation, Anastasia tiptoed to her room, and grabbed the phone. She quickly hid it under her apron, and Valerie swung the bathroom door open.

“What are you doing here, Anastasia?” She asked with eyebrows narrowed.

Startled, Anastasia gulped hard, nervously. She was visibly shaking, but managed to speak up. “I… I came here to borrow a book from Clara.” She stuttered.

“Isn't it obvious that Clara is not here? Why are you looking for her here when you know where to find her?” Valerie queried.

With a snort, Anastasia mumbled. “How would I know that she's not here? Besides, I know where she keeps the book. You're just talkative.”

“Whatever!” Valerie snapped, picking up her purse and walking out of the room.

As soon as she left, Anastasia smiled maliciously and brought the phone out. With a grin, she took out her phone from the apron and dialed the number immediately.

“Hello” She lowered her voice.

“Any progress so far?” The voice came from the other end.

“They just left the house, and I was lucky enough to get her phone. She didn't leave the house with her phone. I'll just place the phone on silent mode and drop it in her drawer.” Anastasia explained.

The receiver laughed heartily from the other end. “Good girl! You're really smarter than I thought you are. Good job! Send me your details, I'll send some peanuts for you. If this works perfectly, consider yourself a duplex owner.”

“What? Really?” Anastasia bulged her eyes out in awe.

With a malicious smile, the receiver replied. “Of course, I don't make empty promises. Let's talk later.”

The phone beeped as the call was hung up. Anastasia jumped up in excitement as she walked to the window, and looked out of the window, opening the curtains.

She smiled in fulfillment as the car driving Valerie and Audrey drove out of the compound. “Good! I hope you don't come back to this house. That way, we'll all be at peace. I'll be a house owner if you get lost forever.”

With that, she closed the curtains. “What are you doing here, Anastasia?”

She flinched and turned swiftly. It was Clara. She exhaled in relief and said. “I'm just staring out of the window, obviously”

Clara smirked. “This room is for Valerie and me. You're not allowed to enter this room, at least you should know your bounds.”

“Really? Because that stupid girl Valerie is your friend doesn't mean you can talk to me like that.”

“So what? She's my friend, how does that have to do with you?” Clara snapped.

Glaring hard at her, Anastasia warned. “Trust me, someday, you'll regret ever getting to know that girl because she'll take away everything you have. Mark my words!”

“Swallow your words and leave now. K just hope you don't have plans of doing anything bad to Valerie.” Clara said.

“Whatever!” Anastasia walked out of the room.

“Silly girl! Keep letting yourself get deceived by that pathetic whore, Valerie Watson.”

A few minutes later, the car drove into the park and pulled over. Audrey got down from the car quickly and ran to the big banner on the entrance. “This will be an ultimate carnival.” She marveled on seeing the banner.

On the other hand, Valerie got down with the little backpack she was holding. The driver turned to her and said. “You know very well that the President is not aware of this, if he finds out, he'll surely get mad. You can't take time, we have limited time. Audrey should be back home before President Ethan returns. I'll call you.”

“Thank you so much, sir. Please don't forget to give me a call when you think it's time to leave. I really appreciate it.” Valerie smiled a little.

However, Valerie walked to Audrey and they headed to the carnival venue. “Oh my God! That's a big teddy bear, Miss old-fashioned” Audrey pointed at it.

“Audrey, you can't go anywhere. You must stay with me. It's crowded here, and if you leave, there'll be no way I'll find you.” Valerie warned Audrey, and she nodded her head in agreement.

They got to vacant seats and got seated as they watched the entertainers. Some people were dancing while some were performing magic. They couldn't help but laugh in excitement. Audrey was the happiest because it was not only her first time attending such an event, she went with her favorite Miss old-fashioned.

Some minutes later, Audrey yawned hungrily as she watched other children eating popcorn and ice cream. She turned reluctantly to Valerie. “Miss old-fashioned, I want ice cream and popcorn.”

Valerie shook her head. “I can't leave you here to get that, Audrey. I would rather not start looking all over for you”.

Audrey pouted her mouth and bowed her head sadly. “I really want ice cream.”

Reluctantly, Valerie nodded her head in agreement. “But you have to promise me that you won't leave this place no matter what. You have to stay here until I get back.”

Audrey snapped. “I promise you, Miss old-fashioned. I'll be waiting for you right here.”

With that, Valerie patted her hair. “Good girl. I'll be back before you know it, okay?”

She walked to the ice cream counter, leaving Audrey behind.

A few minutes after Valerie had left, a lady walked to Audrey's whose eyes were fixed on the dance performance on the platform.

“Hello, Audrey” The unknown woman smiled at her.

Audrey puckered her eyebrows, wondering how she knew her name. “Who are you? How did you know me?”

With a smile, she replied. “Miss old-fashioned, your nanny asked me to get you.”

“Miss old-fashioned? How did you know her?” Audrey asked curiously.

“I met her over there. She asked me to get you” She said, and Audrey reluctantly followed her.

Not long after Audrey left with the unknown lady, Valerie walked back to where she had left Audrey with the cone of ice cream and popcorn she was holding.

“Audrey.” She called out as the ice cream fell from her hand….
