Chapter 35: Chapter 35
“You scoundrel!”
Rebecca freaked out, and Valerie held her cheeks with her head bowed.
Audrey gasped in shock, and staggered up despite her sprained ankle. “Why did you do that?”
“Ethan, where the hell did you get this lady from? Just take a look at me, and my attire. She has the guts to spill the juice on me” Rebecca barked angrily.
Valerie clenched her fist in annoyance. She was just a worker in the villa, and doesn't have any right to retaliate. “I'm sorry, Miss”.
“Why are you apologizing to her, Miss old-fashioned? She doesn't deserve your apology, not after slapping you in the face. Daddy, why is Rebecca here? I thought you already left the house. I can take anything from her, but she should never hurt Miss old-fashioned” Audrey broke into tears.
Rebecca scoffed, and turned to Ethan, who stared blankly at them with an expressionless face. “You little… Ethan, why aren't you saying anything? Are you just going to sit there and let this thing insult me?”
With that, Audrey burst into tears. Valerie rushed to her, and hugged her tightly. She stared at Rebecca with so much disdain.
“I want this nanny thrown out of this house. Who employed such a senseless person here? She doesn't belong here, and she needs….” Rebecca was still speaking when Ethan cut her off.
Ethan banged his fist on the table, and they flinched. “Enough, Rebecca. The nanny is going nowhere”.
Rebecca turned her gaze to him with arched eyebrows. “What?”
“You heard me. Why did you slap her? It was obviously an accident, and she apologized to you. Why are you making a big deal out of nothing?” Ethan started, while Rebecca stared at him in agape.
Valerie raised her eyes, stared at the President in surprise. She would never have believed that he would stand up for her. Rebecca turned to Valerie and glared at her with hatred.
“Next time, Rebecca, don't you dare lay a finger on my Miss old-fashioned. I'll make sure you regret it” Audrey smirked at her.
“You…” Rebecca breathed heavily. All she felt was humiliation and anger. Grabbing her purse, she rushed upstairs without saying a word.
“Thank… thank you, Sir” Valerie bowed slightly at him.
Without sparing a glance, Ethan stood up, cleaned his mouth with the serviette paper. “You don't need to thank me, I just did what was right. That doesn't mean you should disrespect her. Baby, the driver will take you to school. Be a good girl”. He pecked Audrey, who smiled a little, as he walked away.
Audrey chuckled, and turned her gaze to Valerie. “Miss old-fashioned, are you okay? Your cheeks are reddened. You see why I don't like her at all”.
“I'm fine, baby. I've gone through worse than that, and I'm strong. You don't have to worry. Don't you need help getting into the car?”
“Yes please”
Valerie carried her and headed out of the mansion. She helped her into the car, and waved her goodbye as the car zoomed off.
She thought of how the President had defended her, and shook her head with a faint smile.
“Oh God! Please keep saving me from the scheming witch, Rebecca. I just need the money from this job to get into the university”.
…
Rebecca fumed in annoyance as she kept pacing around the room. She couldn't bring herself to believe that Ethan could actually embarrass her just because of the nanny.
“I can't believe you, Ethan. Now, I'm going to make life unbearable for that stupid girl. I have to get my face back. Ethan is mine”.
Just then, she heard a faint knock on the door. Sitting heavily on the bed, she replied. “Come in”.
The door creaked open, and Anastasia walked in with a tray of snacks. She dropped the tray on the stool beside Rebecca.
“What about a glass of wine? Or are you too dumb to remember that? Why am I surprised? All the servants in this mansion are all stupids”.
Anastasia bowed her head. “I'm sorry, ma'am”
“Sorry for your god-damned ass. Get out of here” Valerie ranted.
Anastasia turned around to leave, but suddenly halted and turned around gradually. “Are you so annoyed because of that stupid Valerie, ma'am?”
Rebecca swallowed hard, and raised her eyes to stare at Anastasia. “And what makes you think I owe you an explanation? You really do not know your place, do you?”
Anastasia smiled faintly, and commented. “You might not owe me any explanation, but trust me, you will really want to hear what I have to say”.
“You're so certain?” Rebecca stood up, as she cat-walked around her with so much ego. Anastasia nodded her head in agreement.
“Definitely”
Upon hearing that, Rebecca sat on the couch. “Tell me, what do you think will be so important that I'll get from you?”
“Your suspicions are right. I think she has a thing for the President. You don't have to worry, I hate her more than you do… trust me” Anastasia spoke in between gritted teeth.
With that, Rebecca felt a bit of relief. At least, she had something in common with the cook. “Really? So, of what use will you be to me? I'm uncertain if you know how much I want to pull that girl out of this house”.
“I want that too. She's really getting on my nerves, and she's getting so much attention. I'm going to help you in any way that I can to bring her down” Anastasia whispered.
“Good. I want you to keep an eye on her. I think she wants to get Ethan for herself. Don't worry, you will be rewarded handsomely if you do a good job” Rebecca patted her back, and Anastasia smiled.
“There's nothing for you to worry about, ma'am. I'm on your side, and our motive is to have her kicked out of Davison's villa”.
Smiling maliciously, Rebecca commented. “You're smart. Valerie must live in the mansion, whether dead or alive”.
