Rebecca sat heavily on the couch, and the elderly lady who was dressed in expensive attire sat next to her. “Aunt, I really don't understand Ethan. He told me straight to my face that he chose that girl over me”.

“What? I thought you said she was just a nanny. Why would my son be attracted to a nanny?” Lady Davison snapped.

“Yes, she is. What I don't understand is why he will select a worker over me, Aunt. I can't take it anymore”.

Lady Davison quickly jerked up from the couch. “You have nothing to worry about, Becca. As far as I'm concerned, you are the only one who is defeating to be Ethan's wife. I don't care what he thinks about that worker. What matters is that you're the one I pick”.

“But aunt, you really can't force him” Rebecca cried out.

Lady Davison turned sharply to her. “Don't tell me you're giving him up because of a worker? That's not possible, is it?”

“No way! Even if I should give up for anybody, it shouldn't be a lowly maid. He can't replace me with such a person”.

“Good girl! Don't worry, he's my son. I'm fully behind you. I'll talk to him, don't worry” Lady Davison patted her shoulder, and Rebecca nodded her head.

“Please do, Aunt. I'm beginning to lose my patience. Thinking of that girl makes me sick, and I can't wait for her to be kicked out of the villa” Rebecca winced.

“Miss Valerie Watson?”

President Ethan widened his eyes in shock. He couldn't bring himself to believe that she actually came to the airport to hold hands with a man.

Immediately she saw Ethan, she quickly snatched her hand from Nicole, and pouted her mouth. “Sir…sir?”

“You guys know each other? How the hell is that possible, Val?” Nicole shook his head.

Swallowing hard, Valerie cleared her throat and said. “He's my boss. I told you that I just got a job, right, Nick?”

“Ethan is your boss? Really?” Nicole laughed excitedly as he walked to Ethan, who didn't even smile.

Ethan shook his head. “How did you get to know Nicole, Miss Watson? Where did you know him from?”

“We're buddies”

“We're friends”

They chorused. Valerie exchanged glances with Nicole and they chuckled softly. On noticing Ethan's presence again, she quickly frowned her face again.

“Nick, how did you get to know my boss? I… I really don't understand what's going on here” Valerie managed to say. Actually, it was already awkward since they were silent.

“Aren't you going to get into the car, Nicole?” Ethan tried to conceal the disappointment written all over him. But why was he disappointed? He couldn't just tell why.

Nicole marveled. “Really? We're cousins. He's my cousin”.

“What?”

“Grandma couldn't let me rest. She just kept reminding me that I had to pick you up from the airport. That's so annoying!” Ethan replied in between gritted teeth.

Nicole and Ethan headed towards the car. As for Valerie, she was still shocked with her new findings, and her legs became too numb to even work. Ethan is her boss, and he happens to be related to her best friend? That's really ridiculous!

Meanwhile, Ethan got into the car, but Nicole halted and turned around swiftly. He saw Valerie still standing on the other side. She waved him goodbye, and he narrowed his eyes. “That thick head!”

“Hey, Val. What the f*** are you standing there for, huh? Aren't you getting into the car?”

Valerie stared at Ethan, and swallowed hard. “Huh? Oh no, I just remembered that Susan and I have something important to pick at the mall. I'd rather go home. We'll talk later, Nicole”.

“Is that how you intend to welcome me, doll? I thought I was so important to you, how could you treat me like this?” Nicole feigned anger.

Valerie smiled nervously. “Gosh! Nicole, you're really something. I told you I will speak to you later. Go ahead!”.

“What kind of friend does that make you, Valerie? You came all the way to the airport because she wanted to welcome me back to Northridge, and now this? Get into the car, doll” Nicole grabbed her wrist, and she struggled a little before giving up.

Valerie turned her gaze to Ethan, only to find him staring back at her. She bit her lips, and turned her gaze away in shame. “Gosh! Why are you being so forceful, Nicole? You're so aggressive.”.

“Are we supposed to keep watching you guys getting all lovey-dovey? Or do you both think I have nothing else to do today?” Ethan spoke without sparing a glance at them.

“See? You're already getting on my cousin's bad side” Nicole shrugged.

Valerie tutted loudly with a snort. “I've always been on his bad side. That's not new”.

Although it was just a mumble, but it was quite audible. Ethan turned to her, and she scratched her head nervously. “I mean, he wouldn't care whether I'm on his good side or not”.

As they got into the car, Valerie couldn't help but steal glances at Ethan. At some point, they ended up staring at each other at the same time, and turning their gazes away immediately.

“Oh God. What sort of thing is this? Just when I thought I was going to have my peace outside the villa, I ended up riding with the President”.

“Hey, Valerie. Why are you suddenly so quiet? Aren't you going to tell me what happened when I left Northridge to the states?” Nicole tapped her shoulder, and she exhaled deeply.

“Nick? We'll… we'll talk about that later” She stuttered.

Nicole rolled his eyes, and shrugged. “You look so tense. Are you hungry? We can stop over for lunch, guys”.

“No.”

“Of course not”

Ethan and Valerie chorused, and Nicole stared at them confused. “Are you guys really not hungry, or is there something else?”

“Something else? What are you talking about, you jerk? I'm just not hungry at all” Valerie smirked.

Just then, her stomach grumbled loudly. She bowed her head in shame.

“You're not hungry, really?”
