Chapter 107: Chapter 107

“What is this, Ethan?”

Rebecca almost screamed her voice out. She was visibly shaken with annoyance. The thought alone that the panties she was holding belonged to another woman made her freak out.

Ethan raised his head with a faint smile. “What do you think it is? Isn't it obvious that it's panties?”

Rebecca freaked out. “Are you really giving me that response? I just found an f****** slut's panties in your bedroom, and all you have to say is this?”

“Becca, you asked me what it is, and I just told you that it's panties.” Ethan replied.

Rebecca clenched her fist in fury. “What is the meaning of this? Why is there a woman's pants in your room? This is obviously not mine, and I'm your girlfriend. Fiancée, to be precise!”

“I think it's time I tell you the truth, Rebecca. I've tried my best to live with this, but not anymore.” Ethan started.

Tears circulated in Rebecca's eyes. “What do you mean by that, Ethan?”

“What I mean is that I'm tired of pretending that it's working out between us. We are clearly not compatible, and my heart yearns for someone else.” Ethan replied.

Rebecca gulped hard. “What?”

“I just want to be honest with you, Rebecca. Since things are not working out with the both of us, I think it's time we go separate ways. I have a daughter, and I'm not seeing any possibility of you becoming her mother.” Ethan continued.

Rebecca burst into tears. She couldn't hold herself anymore. “How could you say something like this to me? I haven't waited for you for so many years, Ethan. Do you know how many suitors I had to turn down just because I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you? What makes you think I can be a mother to your daughter? Is this because of Valerie?”

“No, Rebecca. I don't want you to include Valerie in whatever we're saying. She has absolutely nothing to do with this.” Ethan snapped.

I'm still sobbing, Rebecca continued. “Ethan, what exactly do you intend to tell your mother and my parents? We're supposed to be getting married. That's the reason I flied all the way from Amsterdam to this place.”

“I'm sorry, Rebecca. Look, I know this must be difficult for you, but I would rather not keep you in the dark anymore. I have my life to live and so do you. Likewise, I have someone who my heart goes out to.” Ethan tried to touch her wrist, but she slapped his hand off.

Rebecca blurted out. “Don't you dare touch me, Ethan! You want to dump me after so many years of waiting?”

“Rebecca, I'm just letting you go because that's the right thing to do. How would you feel when you continue being in a relationship where there is no love?”

Rebecca scoffed. “I love you, Ethan. I freaking love you, isn't that what matters? I've loved you ever since we were kids, and I kept wishing that we could be together. Now you stand here to tell me that you don't have any feelings for me. Really?”

“Sorry, I disappointed you. But I simply can't tell the heart whom to love. I wish I could reciprocate the love you have for me. It's just impossible for us.” Ethan said.

Without hesitation, Rebecca turned sharply to him and asked. “You just said your heart yearns for someone else, right?”

“Yes, that's right.”

“Tell me, who is it? Listen, I've already understood your point, and I'm not going to tell you to love me back. I just want to know the woman who was able to win Your heart when I'm unable to do that.” Rebecca spoke with a trance of tears in her voice.

Ethan exhaled deeply and replied. “It's Valerie! She's the one I truly love and want to be with. Asides that, she's the only mother figure in my daughter's life.”

“Really? You're going to replace me with a peasant like her? After the death of your ex-girlfriend, you've refused to open up to love someone else. Who would have thought you'd choose someone like her?” Rebecca felt bittered.

What has she ever done wrong? She had always tried her best just to please Ethan, but he still chooses Valerie over her.

Without sparing a glance, she grabbed her purse and rushed out of the room. She felt like her world was crumbing all of a sudden.

She grabbed the staircase's handle and felt the pain of the cut she got from the broken glass. “Damn! This is all because of you, Valerie. You stole my man away from me.”

“Miss Rebecca, are you leaving already?”

She turned sharply to see Valerie, holding Audrey's hand as they walked out of the washing room.

Glaring hard at her, she sighed. “Don't you dare say my name. You've finally succeeded in taking what's mine, but watch your back!”

With that, she stormed out of the mansion. Audrey and her mother stole glances at each other because they didn't understand what she meant.

“Mommy, did you get into a fight with Rebecca the witch?” Audrey pouted her mouth.

Valerie shook her head negatively. “No, I didn't. Come on, Audrey, you shouldn't refer to her like that, okay?” Valerie patted her hair.

“Yeah, whatever!”

At the Davison's villa, it was getting late. Darkness was already enveloping the earth. Valerie had succeeded in avoiding Ethan the whole day.

She was about to go to bed when she heard a knock on her door.

Then, she thought. “Who could it be? I'm sure I put Audrey to sleep.”

She got up from the bed, yanking the duvet off her body. Immediately she opened the door, Ethan stormed into the room and slammed the door behind him.

He pinned her to the wall, staring deeply into her eyes. Valerie felt like she was choking with the way he was stripping her naked with his mischievous stare. “What… What are you doing here?”

“I'm here to give you dinner. Don't you want to eat after eating?” He winked at her.

Blinking hard, Valerie exhaled deeply. She was suddenly feeling hot, even if the air conditioner was working perfectly. “You… I think you should go to your room, Sir.”

“No Sir! Do not call me that anymore.” Ethan replied.

Valerie held her breath as she spoke because she could feel his warm breath on her neck region. “What… what should I call you then?”

“I love you, Valerie. I can't hold it back anymore. I just can't.” Ethan snapped.
