Chapter 100: Chapter 100

The music was still playing loud, she gradually opened her eyes. Her head was aching so badly. Opening her eyes, she found out that the room was so dark. Then, she felt someone's breath on her skin.

With that, she quickly sprang up and turned on the table lamp. A gasp escaped her lips. “Justin?”

It was Justin who was lying close to her, he was fast asleep. “Oh my god! How did I get here?”

That was when she realized that she was half naked. Her heart skipped a beat. Did they get intimate with each other? How did this happen?

“Justin! Justin!! Will you wake up?” She shook him vigorously.

Tired, Justin yawned as he opened his eyes. Blinking rapidly, he jerked up from the bed. He was shocked to see Valerie lying beside him. Furthermore, he only had his inner pants on. “Did we…?”

“How the hell did I get here, Justin? Why can't I remember anything that happened between us?” Valerie cupped her aching head with her palm.

Justin was as confused as she was because he couldn't remember how he got into the room. “Why are we here? Isn't today your father's birthday? Why aren't we outside, celebrating his birthday?”

“How should I know? I can't even remember how I got here. This isn't right, you're married to my sister, Justin.” Valerie twitched her brows as she grabbed the bed cover, wrapping it around her chest.

Justin snorted. “I'm not concerned about Patricia. She's the least of my worries right now. By the way, I thought I got a message from you asking me to come here.”

“What? Message? I can't remember writing you any message. The worst is, I haven't seen my phone.” Valerie snapped.

His eyes popped out in shock. “ You didn't? If that's the case, who sent me the message with your phone?”

“I don't know what to say, Justin, please leave. I have to get out of here before my daughter starts looking for me.” This time, Valerie just wanted a clean sheet with him.

With a deep exhale, Justin continued. “I know you still can't forgive me, Valerie. I'm willing to wait for as long as it will take. Listen, I can file an annulment just to be with you.”

“Whatever that happened between us today is wrong. Let's just pretend like nothing happened and part ways. All I want is for my daughter to be okay. I just want to be with my daughter, that's all.” Valerie said.

“Val, you loved me before, I'm sure you can still love me again if you want to give it a try. Why don't you understand that I feel empty without you? Don't tell me you've fallen in love with your baby's father.” Justin gasped.

On hearing that, Valerie scoffed. “It has absolutely nothing to do with you. Mind your business, Justin, and stay away from me.”

Without hesitation, Valerie rushed into the bathroom after picking up her dress on the ground. She dressed and left the room quickly.

“Oh God! I just pray the words of what happened won't get out because how would I start explaining things?” She mumbled inaudibly.

The moment she stepped into the garden where the party was going on, her little Audrey rushed to her. “Mommy? Where have you been? Grandpa and I have been looking for you all over.”

“Uhm… Really?” Valerie forced a smile at her nervously.

Audrey nodded in agreement. “Yes, mommy. The party is almost over. I think it's time to go home. I'm feeling very sleepy.”

“Oh, dear. Have you seen Mr. John, the driver? Thank goodness you don't have classes tomorrow.” Valerie tucked Audrey's hair to the back of her ear.

Then, Valerie saw her phone with Audrey and her eyes furrowed in shock. “Audrey, where did you see my phone? I've been looking all over for it.”

“I took it from there. I even saw it inside your purse there.” Audrey replied.

Confused, Valerie scratched her head. How could the phone be inside her bag? She was sure she didn't find her phone am an hour ago. “ Are you sure it was inside my purse?”

“Yes, mommy. I think Daddy has called you over three times.” Audrey said.

Feeling uneasy, Valerie took the phone from her and dialed President Ethan's number. “Hello, President.”

“Where have you been, Valerie? I've been trying to my best to reach you for god-knows-how-long.” Ethan's cold voice said from the other end.

Gulping hard, Valerie continued. “I… I was busy with some things, I didn't realize you were calling.”

“Okay. It's late, don't you think it's time you come back home with Audrey.” Ethan replied.

Valerie nodded. “Yes, President. We'll be back soon.”

With that, she hung the call-up and turned to Audrey, who was eating her ice cream excitedly. “Baby, I think it's time to go home.”

“Yes, mommy.”

Meanwhile, Patricia waited impatiently for her husband to come home. She had long retired home because of her son.

Glancing at the wall clock, she heaved a sigh. It was already midnight and her husband, who attended the birthday banquet with her, was still not home.

“Where the hell is he? Isn't the party already over?” She was worried.

Thirty minutes later, she had already fallen asleep on the couch when the doorbell rang noisily. Patricia yawned tiredly as she walked towards the door and unlocked it.

“Where the hell have you been, Justin? Do you know that you kept me awake all night?” Patricia half yelled at him.

Justin scoffed. “I never told you to be awake, Patricia. You just decided to.”

“What is wrong with you, Justin? Can you ever be grateful?” Patricia said with a teary voice.

“First off, I'm so tired, and I need to take a rest. Second, sign these papers before tomorrow so that I can take them to the lawyer.” He dropped a file on the table and walked away.

Sniffing hard, Patricia blinked hard to stop herself from crying. Reluctantly, she picked the file and opened it. Flipping the papers, tears rolled down her cheeks.

“Divorce papers?”
