Chapter 69: Chapter 69

“Let us get you to the clubbbbb!” Sana screamed at the top of her lungs as their uber stopped in front of a famous club. She seemed so excited. Her vacation had just started, and she could not wait to hit the club.

She was not a clubgoer, but this time, she was tired from all the assignments and the hectic schedule of her college. It was the most important thing she needed at that time: some fun time with her best friend.

“Sana, I don’t think we should have come here—especially today,” Olivia commented looking at the long queue outside the club. It was a Saturday night, so the crowd was justified.

“Oh, shut up! We will enjoy it. Just let go of your concerns and let loose for a night,” she said shaking her head at Olivia as she paid the uber driver, “Don’t forget that I had to face that hag and beg him for letting you go with me for just one night. Jeez, he is such a difficult person to deal with. I pity you and admire your patience in keeping up with him.” Sana said with exasperation. Olivia let out a sigh.

Sana had told her to be ready so they could go out for the night. The plan was for them to be out for some time and for Olivia to spend the night at Sana’s place. It had been such a long time since they had a sleepover at each other’s house. That was why Olivia agreed. However, she was not aware that she had to ask for the grandpa’s permission for that as well.

She was already dressed in a brown shimmery dress that reached the middle of her thighs. Sana had strictly advised her to doll up. She was in the mood to completely let loose for the night. Olivia could understand how tired she must have been.

Olivia was wearing matching stilettoes. She also completed her look with gold ear studs.

James was sitting on the couch in the lounge when he saw her descend the stairs. He gave a disapproving glance. Gosh! He was never satisfied with whatever she wore.

“Where are you going at this time of the hour?” He asked looking at the wall clock. It was past ten at night. Olivia sighed.

“Out. With my friend.” She replied shortly. She was tired of the constant treatment like she was a child. She had put up with a lot of his silly ideas of making her a “groomed and well-mannered” daughter-in-law. She deserved to take a time off from those tiring days and spend time with someone who understood her.

Thomas had been out for the whole month. He would just visit the house occasionally and disappear again. She also could not reach him whenever she tried to call. She would visit his penthouse knowing damn well that he must have been there. She wanted to confront him, but she did not do that. She did not want him to think that she cared enough to go and search for him. He was such an egoistic person that he did not even care that she was alone with his grandpa to treat her however he wanted. He did not even try to know how she must have been and how she must have dealt with everything on her own; he did not care. Why should she then?

It was another one of those moments where she had to deal with James Walker.

“Who gave you permission to leave the house at such an odd hour?” He stood up at his towering height trying to intimidate her. He also had his signature cold expression on his face.

Just when Olivia was about to say something, the doorbell rang snapping them out of their uncomfortable situation.

It was none other than Sana who appeared with the maid.

“Good evening, sir.” She greeted politely. She was dressed in a tight black strapless dress. Her hair was tied in a bun, unlike Olivia whose hair was loose. She looked so pretty, Olivia thought to herself with a smile.

“We have plans together. I will drop her off first thing in the morning.” She said sensing the tension between them. Olivia looked at her and then at James who was shaking her head.

“It’s not your teenage where you could go and party all night. Since you have come here, I will let her go. I won’t tolerate such childish behavior from now on.” He told Sana in a curt tone and cast a glance toward Olivia and left.

That was how she got “permission” to be with her best friend which she did not ever need, even from her mom.

Speaking of her mom, she regularly visited her. She knew James Walker did not like it, but he could not stop her from visiting her mom knowing that she was unwell. Her mom was in a better condition than before. Aunt Mary was also with her along with the nurse. She regretted a lot that she could not stay the nights with her, but she was a little satisfied that the nurse was taking care of her.

“Hey, let’s go.” Sana snapped her fingers in front of her eyes when she saw her zoned out. She smiled and joined her in the queue. They had to wait for a few minutes before it was their turn. All the while, they kept joking with one another.

Soon they entered the club as the excitement and the hype hit them. Olivia did not know how but a small part of her had missed the environment. Despite not liking her job, she was missing it. She at least had something that she could count on. She had her job. She did not have to put up with all the drama that was going on in her life at the moment.

On one hand, Thomas was away and was ignoring her completely. On other hand, his grandpa was getting on her nerves. On top of everything, she was dissatisfied with her position as she could not take care of her mom.

Everything would have been easier if Thomas was a bit more empathetic toward her position, but he was not. She was not a damsel in distress, but at least one issue would not have bothered her: Thomas’s complete indifference.

She wanted some distance between them so they would not complicate their situation, but he completely distanced himself from her, not caring about a single thing. She could not understand him at all.

Besides, she was still hurt that he treated her like she did not exist even though she tried to contact him several times.

“Olive, forget about everything, okay? This is our night so we should enjoy it, especially because we had gotten this golden opportunity after such an intense session with the hag.” Sana said as she ordered their drinks. Olivia let out a gasp.

“Stop calling him that.” She wanted to scold her, but she could not fight the smile. She was not disrespectful, but he did not let go of a chance to annoy and irritate her.

“What? He deserves it.” She commented casually as her eyes scanned the crowd curiously. The loud music was blasting in their ears as they got their drinks. They started sipping on it while looking at the crowd.

“Ooh! There are a lot of sexy guys here. I would have visited this place more often if I knew.” She chuckled as she looked at the male species in the crowd. Olivia followed her eyes and noticed a group of young and handsome men sitting at a table and drinking. She could not deny the fact that they were indeed good-looking.

“You’re right,” Olivia said with a smile.

“So? What are you waiting for? Let’s go and say hi.” She said as she got up from her seat with excitement. Olivia shook her head.

“I am married, remember!” She pointed at her ring finger where the diamond ring was laying. Sana scoffed.

“As if a contract marriage counts…” She narrowed her eyes at her. Olivia bit her lip.

“Others don’t know,” Olivia said shrugging.

“Nobody knows you here. Besides, Thomas doesn’t care about any of this. Why should you care?” She said trying to make her see sense. She was fed up with the one-sided commitment she was putting out there. Thomas did not care. He had disappeared for a whole month without a word. She knew that it was hard for Olivia to be treated like that by Thomas. She was also aware that she had grown a liking toward Thomas. She knew her best friend. She would never really care about a guy, but she did care about Thomas.

“You know what? Let’s go and say hi to them.” She got up surprising Sana. When she did not want to do something, nobody could force her. However, Sana’s words clicked. She did not have to bind herself completely to the contracted relationship. Thomas had gone without a glance. She had the liberty to enjoy at least. It was not like she was going to date one of those handsome guys.

Sana squealed excitedly and grabbed her arm to take her to their table. The ladies were already swooning over that table. Some of them even approached them. She could not hear them, but she did feel like they were trying to flirt.

She was nervous to no end. She had never approached a guy before. Now, she was doing that while being married. It was sad yet funny that she was pushing herself to do that.

Nevertheless, they went to their table. One of the guys was already looking at them and saying something to the other ones. Sana was clutching her hand tightly. She was as nervous as Olivia was. It was ironic how both friends sucked at those things. But that night, they both decided to enjoy themselves a little.

“Hey, guys.” Sana greeted the group. Two of them were already looking but the others turned around one by one to get a look at them. They were busy chatting when they approached them. Olivia looked at her feet nervously as all the pairs of eyes turned towards them.

“Hello, ladies.” She heard a flirty voice as one of the guys greeted them.

There were six of them sitting in a circle. The four guys could easily look at them while the other two had their backs. She could not see those two right away, but she could guess from the other four that they must all have been handsome and charming.

She had heard that the guys chose friends based on their looks. She thought that it must have been right.

The other two guys finally turned around and took a look at the girls who had approached them. Olivia did not miss the sigh as the guy sitting with his back towards her turned around.

Olivia felt her breath stuck in her throat. She could not believe what she was seeing. After all those sleepless nights thinking about where he must have been; what he must have been doing; if he missed her at all, he was right there in front of her.

He had the same expression she had on her face. The difference was that he quickly masked his expression while she stood there not believing in her eyes.
