Chapter 56: Chapter 56

“Why are you crying?” He asked as he looked at her face. He was holding her hands in his while looking at her face gently. All the earlier anger disappeared. He looked concerned. He was furious at himself that he had made her cry, but he did not show his anger. He did not want to scare her more than she looked at that moment.

“I told you not to report him. I don’t want to see you locked up in jail. The past is in the past. I have already forgotten about it.” She said with a bit of annoyance while she had mist in her eyes. She pulled her hands from his. She was so scared earlier that she could not understand anything. That was why she hugged him earlier.

But now, she was regretting it. She was the one who told him to keep his distance, and now she had hugged him. What would that make her in his eyes?

“I won’t, okay. Calm down.” He said as he grabbed her hands again. She did not look like she would be calmed down anytime soon. He took her to make her sit on the couch. She resisted a little, but he was successful at the end.

He took a seat beside her.

“Let’s forget about him. Do you want to go shopping?” He asked to make her feel relaxed. She had gone through a lot in one day. They were on their honeymoon and that fucker had spoiled all the fun for them. As much as he did not want to let him go, he had to now.

“No.” She said narrowing her eyes at him. He had the nerve to ask her that after almost giving her a mini heart attack.

It made him smile a little. She looked like a child at that moment.

“I thought you needed to buy a few nightwears for yourself—don’t tell me you want to wear my shirts?!” He faked surprise as he said that. Olivia widened her eyes at him.

“No.” She said with a bit louder voice than she intended. His remarks made her angry. What did he think of himself? Sure, his shirts were comfortable to sleep in, but she did not want to sleep in them forever.

She heard his chuckle making her more infuriated.

“Okay. Sorry.” He said as he noticed her glare. He cleared his throat. Her shocked expression at his comment made him laugh.

“Come on. Get ready. We are going to the mall.” He said standing up. He knew that if they remained in the house, she would keep occupied with the bitter memories of the previous night or be mad at him. He wanted her to forget about everything.

“Promise me you will not report him.” She said looking up at him while still sitting on the couch. She wanted to make sure he would forget about making him suffer. It would be him suffering in the end. She did not want that to happen because of her.

On the other hand, he wanted to smile at her innocence. She was so worried about him not knowing how powerful his grandpa was. He was not only an influential person in the states but also in Canada and other countries. He had connections with a lot of powerful individuals all over the world. Politicians and bureaucrats were his friends and partners in businesses he conducted out of the country. He would not be jailed. Even if he would, he would be out with the blink of an eye.

He remembered the one time the police wanted to put him behind the bars for beating Joe a year ago. It was not the first time that he had beat him while he had attempted to harass Olivia. He beat him that night because he talked shit about his parents. Joe was apparently bitter that he had stopped hanging out with him after knowing what kind of a shitty person he was. He mocked him with something he was the most sensitive about.

But when the police came to know whose grandson he was, thy released him as soon as possible and even begged him not to tell his grandpa about it. They were afraid of losing their jobs.

Even in Thailand, he faced some issues in his visa processes and it was resolved within minutes when he called his grandpa.

As much as he was not at the best of terms with him, he still had supported him in a lot of occasions. He was sure nothing wrong would happen to him in Canada as long as he had his grandpa. And there she was worrying about something that would never happen.

“I promise.” He said with a warm smile. His handsome smile was making Olivia’s heart flutter even at a moment where she wanted to be mad at him.

He offered her his hand which she took. He pulled her up. Her hands in his looked so cute—so perfect. He did not want to let go.

“I am ready. Let me grab my phone.” She said as she flaunted towards her room. He could only watch her.

She was a strange combination. Little things made her sad and little things made her happy. It warmed his heart to notice a little smile as he promised that he would not report Leo. He wanted to protect her and do things that made her happy even if that meant not reporting that fucker or give him new round of blows. He wanted to do both, but he could not do either of them because that would made her sadder. Her happiness mattered at that moment.

She came after a few minutes and they left for the mall. During the drive, he kept stealing glances at her to see if she was in normal mood. She appeared to be in thoughts as she always did, but she did not look scared at least. Otherwise, the previous night, it was so hard for him to find her like that. She did not look like the normal, calm and collected, Olivia at all. He could not blame her. It was not easy to face such fucked-up people every now and then.

He wanted to applaud her for being so brave.

They reached the mall and they started looking for the items she needed. She told him to do his shopping and went to the undergarments shop. He shook his head when she saw why she had told him to go and do his own shopping. It was still so hard to wrap his head around the fact that she was a stripper.

He went to look around to give her space. He did not need anything for himself, but he had to kill time.

He was looking at the shops when his eyes stopped on one particular diamond set.

It was a simple black diamond beaded set that had a small amethyst pendant in the middle. The earrings also had small amethyst beads. He did not know why but he had this idea that it would look good on her slim and beautiful neck.

Without thinking, he bought the set. He smiled as he came out of the shop. He waited for a few more minutes when he saw her coming out of the shop looking confused. She was looking for him, running her eyes around with a frown on her face.

He waved with a grin and she finally spotted him. There was an apparent look of relief on her face as she came to him.

“Should we leave?” She asked. She already bought a few pairs of trousers and a few shirts. She did not need anything else. She was so relieved. She would sleep comfortably from then on, she thought.

“Let’s go and have something to eat while we are at it.” He did not even offer her his hand and grabbed her hand which was free from the bags. He also took all the bags in his hand and took her to walk with him around. She looked so confused. But it would be a lie if she said she minded him holding her hand.

“Let me hold my bags. I can do that.” She said as she looked at the bags in his hand. There was also a small bag in his hand among the others. She thought he must have bought something for himself while she was busy doing her shopping.

“I know you can. I don’t want you to though.” He replied and gave her a brief look with a smile. She could just stare at him.

One thing she noticed was that he smiled a lot since they got to Canada. Maybe, he liked the country. She had never seen him smile that much before.

Anyways, he was still holding her hand as they went to find them a table. Holding hands was something that was so intimate but did not feel intimate…that was how she was feeling at that moment as they walked hand in hand among all the people.

“We just had our breakfast. Are you hungry already?” She asked as he found a table in the food court area. He made her sit on the chair.

“I would have something light. We will have our lunch when we get to the villa. The cook must be already there.” He said as he took his own seat. She narrowed her eyes at her for mentioning the cook again, but he just grinned in return.

It was so fascinating to watch him that carefree and smiley. It was a new side to him that he had rarely shown her before. It gave her a sense of joy just to look at him. His smile was so contagious that she did not want anything than to be happy as well.

It was alright though. She could not spoil her time by thinking about the unfortunate event that was about to happen to her the other night. She should thank her lucky stars that nothing bad happened.

‘You should also thank Thomas for saving you.” Her mind inserted to which she agreed from the core of her heart. She had not even thanked him for doing her such a big favor.

“Thank you, Thomas.” She said after he was done placing their order and came back. He looked unsure as to why she was thanking him.

“What for?” He asked with confusion written all over his face.

“For everything.” She replied. She could not understand what she wanted to thank him for. He had not only saved her the other night but has also been trying his best to make her feel relaxed. He calmed her down when she had her worst breakdown in front of him. He even wanted to report the person who caused her pain. Not forgetting the beating he gave to Leo…

She was so glad he was there with her. She never thought Thomas would be the one to help her. She thought would be the hardest part of the marriage to handle would be so kind to her. She was truly grateful.
