Chapter 21: Chapter 21

“What are you doing?” She whisper-yelled looking at him with wide and surprised eyes. He held his composure and took her hand in his. She sat still. She could not understand anything that was happening.

“I don’t know when I fell for you. All I know is that I cannot live without you. You have become the most important part of my life. It has not been that long since we have known each other, but I have known from the moment I laid my eyes on you that you are the one for me. It has always been you.” He said with such intense emotions in his eyes that it almost sounded true to his own ears.

And she? She looked like she had just seen a ghost. What the hell was he doing and saying all of a sudden? She thought he had something important to tell her. Was that the urgent thing he was talking about earlier?

But he had not told her anything about his plans. It was neither part of the contract nor the plans he had discussed with her previously.

People around them started noticing what was happening. And just like any other proposal events, they started pulling out their phones and capturing the moment. She heard excited cheers telling her to accept his proposal. She was feeling so awkward. All the eyes were on them.

“Please go with it. I will explain everything later.” She heard him say quietly. Despite not understanding anything, she nodded her head and smiled awkwardly.

He slid the gorgeous ring on her finger and kissed the back of her hand standing up. She felt tingles all over just because of that kiss. The lack of physical relationship in her life must have ignited such reaction from a mere kiss on the back of her hand. She was baffled as to what was happening.

They were now hearing the shouts of ‘kiss!’, ‘kiss!’, ‘kiss!’

“Oh my God, what’s happening?” She was still seated awkwardly while Thomas was nodding and smiling at the crowd that had gathered before them. That bastard sure knew how to put her in an awkward situation! He should have at least told her beforehand about his plans. She would not have been so shocked and dumbfounded.

He grabbed her hand gently and made her stand up. Her knees felt weak at his presumed intentions.

Was he really going to kiss her? She thought with horror.

He grabbed her face and brought his own face closer to hers. He was looking at her with an undecipherable emotion. Her breathing picked pace as his face came closer and closer.

“We have to do this.” He whispered before putting his lips on hers.

Their audience cheered as he moved his lips a little over hers while she stood frozen on her spot.

Did he…did he just kiss her? She thought not wanting to believe what had just happened.

She wanted to push him away. And she indeed put a little resistance, but he was grabbing her tightly. His lips were plastered on her lips. He was refusing to let go anytime soon.

As much as she was angry, she could not deny how strangely good it felt. His lips were so soft and his light stubble was scratching her chin adding to the strange reaction from her within. He then squeezed her waist getting a gasp from her. That was when he really started kissing her. His lips moved so expertly that she was left breathless. Her legs felt like jelly. Despite giving no response to the kiss, he made it feel like they were both involved. She hated him so much at that moment!

He finally let go of the kiss as the people’s shouting and clapping intensified. They must have enjoyed the display of affection he had put before them. She glared at him as soon as they separated from each other. The asshole had the nerve to smirk at her with a smug look on his face.

“Thank you everyone for joining us in our special moment.” He bowed before them dramatically getting an excited reaction as they left after congratulating both of them. Olivia tried to smile, but she really could not forget the kiss. How dare he!

“How could you do that?” She spat clenching her fists. Her eyes were getting red from how angry she was. He went to sit on his chair while she kept standing.

“What?” He played dumb. He had the nerve to react like he did nothing when all she wanted was to pull his hair out of his skull.

He always brought out the side of her which was rarely showed. She was a calm person, but he did not like that trait in her apparently.

“How dare you kiss me in front of everyone? And why didn’t you tell me about the fact that you were going to fake-propose to me? Can’t I have a say in anything? When the contract is between both of us, why do you have to be the one to decide everything?” She threw her hands in the air breathing heavily. She thought he would consider her opinions after what happened in his office, but he was Thomas Walker. Why would he even consider people’s emotions?

“Please sit down. People are watching.” He said calmly, and his calm made her angrier.

There she was demanding answers, and he was concerned more about people than explaining himself. She did not have an ant’s worth in front of his eyes. At least he should have considered her as a human if not as a partner he had made a contract with.

“I don’t care. I cannot put up with this shit.” She thought she was going to keep getting angrier and say some nasty things if she kept standing there. There was no expression of regret or guilt on his face. There was no hint of him getting ready to explain everything either.

So she started walking out of the restaurant. People were probably looking at her weirdly. One moment, she was getting proposed and kissing him and another moment, she was walking out on him angrily. Although she had composed her expressions as much as she could, she was afraid she was getting a lot of glances.

That was not the thing that concerned her the most. It was the fact that she had left her purse on the table. She was furious, so she did not think about anything else except leaving that place. She wondered how she would call a cab. Her phone was in that purse.

She did hear him calling out her name, and she knew he was following her. She would have disappeared from there if she could.

“Olivia, wait!” He called again. She was being so stubborn. He was now getting angry himself. She did not have to create the scene there. He would have explained to her. It was a long story, and he wanted her to calm down first. But she was not ready to hear him out. He could almost see the smoke coming out her ears earlier.

And the kiss…he did not know it would anger her this much. He was baffled at how much she must have hated it. And there were other girls who literally begged him for an affectionate glance.

The kiss was not even intentional. He did it because of the demands but continuing it passionately was the result his own desire. Once his lips touched her soft and delicious ones, he could not stop himself. He had been wanting to do that the moment she came out of that salon. She looked so breathtaking that it was hard to resist, especially when his lips were already on hers.

The sweet and pleasant smell she had did not help either. It was drawing him in without him knowing.

But she was standing still, and she was not moving her lips. He wanted her to kiss him back. That was why he squeezed her waist knowing that would bring out the desired reaction out of her and give him a chance to kiss her properly. It did.

He wanted to get his tongue into the depths of her mouth, but she would have been shocked. He could feel how stiff her body felt, and how she stood there unmoving.

Maybe, she did not have a lot of experience. But that would be strange considering her past job.

“Olivia, would you stop it?” He yelled as she kept taking huge strides in her heels. She wanted to get away from him, but there was no sign of any cabs. Damn it! Just whenever she needed a cab, it was out of sight.

He finally caught up to her. He grabbed her elbow and turned her around. She almost lost balance, but he caught her before it could happen. She threw daggers at him with her eyes. She looked so angry. Instead of being offended, it incited something in him. He wanted to put his lips on her lips again.

What the hell was happening to him?

“What do you want from me? I did everything you asked me to do. Will you let me go now? Or do you have some more plans that I am unaware of as usual?” She pulled her elbow out of his hand with a bit of force and folded her arms below her chest.

His eyes automatically followed the gesture and now they were fixated on her breasts. They looked so…perfect.

She snapped her fingers in front of his eyes snapping him out of the indecent thoughts. He closed his eyes and sighed. He should not have such thoughts about her. They were in a contract, and she was the last girl he could have feelings for—or so he thought.

It was probably because of the lack of sexual activities in the past month. He could not go a day without being involved with someone. And he had lived without such pleasures for one whole month. It was because of his grandfather and his warning to find a wife and get married as soon as possible. He had been so busy trying to persuade Olivia for the contracted marriage that he did not have time for all that.

Now, he was regretting it. Maybe then, he would not have the thoughts that engulfed him at that moment.

“Let’s get inside the car. I will explain everything. I am sorry for putting you in an awkward place and not discussing anything beforehand. I was compelled to do so. Let me explain.” He said calmly putting the thoughts of touching or kissing her aside. At that moment, he ought to calm her down. He did not want her to back off when he had made such progress with the marriage thing. He could not lose it all and lose his shares in the process. There were a few days left only. He had the firm belief that his grandpa would not turn away from his warning. He would do just what he said he would.

He saw her taking a few moments and thinking with her head down. He also saw her fists clench and unclench. After a few moments of silence between them, she started walking towards the car without saying anything.

He smiled following her with her purse in his hand. He had completely forgotten about the purse. She did not notice it either.

If the people, who knew him, noticed the purse in his hand, they would have died of shock right there and then. Thomas Walker had never given such privileges to a girl before.

Without knowing, he had given it to Olivia—the girl he believed to never fall for.
