Chapter 15: Chapter 15
“Sir, Miss Anderson is here to see you.” His secretary informed him who was just hired two days ago. He had begun to join the office often. His grandfather was over the moon to find him there working. He had informed his secretary beforehand that Olivia was coming.
“Let her in.” He said over the phone, folding the paper and leaning against his desk. He was just done going through the contract papers.
She entered his office looking beautiful in jeans and red shirt. Her hair was tied in a ponytail. She tied her hair a lot. As much as he was glad that her elegant neck was exposed, he wanted to see her hair down. He remembered how her long and gorgeous hair moved with her moves when she danced. He still could not believe she was the same person. She always dressed so modestly while she looked like such a seductress on the stage.
“Welcome, Miss Anderson.” He greeted her cheerfully. She nodded without any expression and took a seat.
‘Still in a sour mood, huh?’ He thought.
“Can we get through the contract?” She asked straight-forwardly. She did not even waste a breath. Her attitude was giving him headache. But he had to control himself of he wanted the contract to be signed.
“Here. Let me know if you want any alterations.” He slid the papers in front of her which she picked and started reading.
He had nothing else to do than to stare at her while she was busy. Her features were so attractive. Her super round eyes were busy skimming through the papers. He had hardly seen such round beautiful eyes. Her skin was glowing despite the bags under her eyes. If he knew better, he would have concluded that she had not been sleeping properly. Just like usual, a few loose strands were touching her cheeks. She was not like the girls who would put a lot of makeup—thought he had seen her face in full makeup as well. She looked good both the times, with or without makeup.
What gained the most of his attention was her body shape. Her breasts did not seem super big, just an average size with her slim waist and comparatively bigger behind. Just the shape of her body was enough to make him imagine wild things that he did not want to.
He was perplexed at the sudden thoughts.
And the pen she was holding between her teeth…the glossy pink lips…
“Mr. Walker?” He heard her call him name out snapping him out of his thoughts. He shook his head and looked at her eyes—the same beautiful round eyes.
“Yeah?” He said looking at her.
“I was saying I want to add some things.” She stated putting the pen on the papers. She wanted to be sure before taking such a huge step.
He nodded. He knew it was coming. It was the least he could do for all the shit he had put her through. He called his secretary to bring two cups of coffee and some snacks. When she was out of the room, he looked at Olivia.
“What do you want to add?” He asked in a professional tone. He wanted her to believe that he was serious.
“Before stating my terms, I want to ask you something.” She said in a serious tone. He nodded and cued for her to go ahead.
“I want to know why you need to marry. And why do you need to marry me?” She said folding her arms. She was curious about it from day one, but she did not think it was alright to ask. Now that he had been more than personal with her, she had every right to ask.
He looked at her for some time before letting out a sigh.
“My grandfather wants me to get married for the sake of giving him an heir.” He started but the reaction she gave did not let him continue.
“What are you talking about?” She looked horrified. Her round eyes were looking even wider.
He understood what she had got from his statement. It was funny. He smirked a little.
“Will you tell me what this is about? You mentioned no such thing in the contract and I will not go with this if that is the purpose.” She suddenly looked angry and was almost hyperventilating. He cleared his throat.
“No, it is not what you think. We will just pretend to be married for a year and that is all.” He quickly explained before she changed her mind. He had gone to great lengths to convince her. He did not want it to blow up.
She sighed, “Please explain to me in detail.”
He started telling her why he wanted to get married. And also told her that the reason why he wanted to marry her. He thought that it was a wise idea to gain her trust. Otherwise, he was afraid she would refuse again.
She did not say anything in return but she seemingly was drowned in deep thoughts.
“I want to add some terms of my own.” She said again. He nodded and told her to continue.
“1: I don’t want any kind of physical contact between us.” She said firmly. It was not like he expected any contact or wanted it.
“Except when we have to.” He added a point making a furrow appear on his face.
“What do you mean?” She asked confusedly. She did not want any contact between them. It was just a pretend thing. She wanted it make it as easy as she could for herself.
“We are pretending to be a married couple. In front of my grandpa and the world, we have to make it as real as possible, and that includes physical contact as well.” He said wisely. She thought for a moment before nodding her head.
She did not have any choice, did she?
“Only---” She was about to say when there was a knock. The secretary entered bringing them coffee and some cookies. He thanked her and she left.
“Here.” He gave her the plate of cookies which she refused politely. She did not have the appetite. What was important was to clear her stance before him.
“Only in public.” She continued making him nod, “2: You will bear my mother’s surgery expenses if that ever happens.” She was so hesitant to say it out loud. She had never ever asked something like that from anyone. It killed her conscience, but she could not do anything. Her voice sounded sad.
“Of course, I have included it in the contract already that I will bear any expenses of your mother’s medication.” He said enthusiastically. That was the whole point of her agreeing to that offer. And he knew it.
“Not any expense! I will find a job and look after her myself. Only her surgery.” She said insistently making his eyebrows furrowed.
“Don’t tell me that you are thinking about doing a job after getting married!” He said with surprise. She narrowed her eyes.
“That is exactly what I want. Any problem?” She raised an eyebrow. He let out a sigh. He did not know it would be that difficult to deal with her.
“I don’t want anyone to suspect this marriage is fake. What would people think if they know that a billionaire’s wife is doing some ordinary job? I am here to provide. You don’t have to work.” He said linking his hands.
She shook her head, “Getting into this contract does not mean that I will do whatever you want me to do. I hope that is clear.” She said rolling her eyes. It was so difficult for her to get though all that, and he was already getting on her nerves before anything started for real.
“Look I will not dictate what and what you should not do, but I cannot allow anything that would prove this marriage fake. Who would believe that you have married a billionaire when you do all those jobs?” He wanted to say useless jobs, but he knew that would set her off.
She kept glaring at him but did not say anything.
‘Thank God, she has a sense at least.’ He thought when she rolled her eyes and started reading the documents thoroughly.
He was anxiously waiting for her to say anything else. He was expectant for her to say the amount was not enough. He had offered one million dollars to her that would cover all the expenses of her mother’s treatment besides the monthly allowance he would deposit into her account on monthly basis during the marriage and on yearly basis after the marriage. He thought she would argue about the amount being less than the services she was offering. The truth was that he had met some women who would do exactly the same thing. But what she said left him speechless for a second. He had never imagined she would say something like that.
“I want you to remove the clause where it says that you have to take my responsibility after the marriage. I will be able to find myself a job till then and take care of my mother.” She said sliding the papers to him, “I will sign once that clause is modified.” If it were up to her, she would have never accepted the monthly allowance during the marriage but she did that because of her mother.
She just wanted her surgery to be done. She visited the doctor the previous day, and he had suggested surgery if her condition worsens. Her hair was thinning ever since her chemo started, but it has started to fall out quickly for the past days. It hurt her heart to think how her dear mom was in so much pain. She would have taken away all her pain if it was in her hands.
“Miss Olivia?” She heard her name being called out. She looked up to see him looking at her with concern.
“Are you okay?” He asked. He must have noticed the expressions of dismay on her face.
“I am okay.” She nodded. It sounded like she was convincing herself more than him.
He knew she was stressed but did not want to press. It must have been due to the apartment.
“I am willingly adding this clause. I suggest we let it be.” He said. It was just when he came out of his shock, he found her looking upset. She truly surprised him by suggesting they omit the term. There he was expecting her to demand more, and she was not even willing to take what he was offering when others would gladly do that.
Who was she? What kind of a person was she? It was beyond him to know.
“No! I think if it is a contract, it should have consent of both. Although consent is a very much questionable term here, I want to include at least one term according to my wishes.” She replied. He cleared his throat. He knew what she was implying. The very agreement of contract marriage was not according to her consent at the first place.
“Okay.” He did not want to argue, so he agreed, “I also want to transfer the ownership of the apartment on your name in the future. And I don’t want any arguments on that.” He said with a firm voice. It was now her turn to be surprised. But she nodded after thinking for a while. It was not like she could do anything about that. They still needed a shelter to live in.
He wanted to give her at least that. He was worried about her sick mother. He had to make sure she was alright just like he promised.
“I will make my lawyer prepare a new contract with modified terms. It will not take long.” He informed making a call and repeating the new terms to his lawyer while she waited.
She was getting late. She had asked Aunt Mary to look after her mom while she was away.
“I want to discuss about the marriage till the papers arrive.” He said linking his fingers together and putting his hands on the table. She looked at him attentively and nodded.
“My grandfather wants me to get married as soon as possible. I thought to let him meet you before going thought the formalities. But I don’t think that would be a good idea.” He said with a bit of hesitation.
“So what have you thought?” She asked when he did not continue. He sighed and looked at her in the eyes.
“Can we marry tomorrow?” He asked with a hopeful eyes making her own eyes go wide with shock. She felt like she could not breathe for a second. It all felt so unreal until he had mentioned it like that.
Tomorrow?
