Chapter 25: Chapter 25

Chapter Twenty-Five: Epilogue

Nyla

Five months later

Sitting in front of the mirror I watched as my mother-in-law Emily fixed my hair before applying my make-up. Five months have passed, since who pushed me had been revealed and also my memory coming back. Now here I am, happy as I can ever be because it's my wedding day.

For the past two months, my mother-in-law and I have developed a bond, we will always go shopping, get our hair and nails we have a girls' night out just watching movies and gossiping. Kyle and I also have been going on dates more often when he wasn’t away on a business trip or wasn’t busy at work, we were also having sex a lot.

“Nyla, you look so stunning,” I heard Mrs. Hernandez told me.

“Thank you so much,” I said while hugging her. “You did a really good job.” Smiling at me, she kissed me on my forehead before she pinched my cheeks.

I was dressed in a white knee-length wedding maternal dress and flat white shoes. I was now nine months and my belly was huge.

“You know Mrs. Hernandez, I wish my parents could be here, especially my dad so he could walk me down the aisle, but unfortunately because of the circumstances he couldn't. They couldn't see their little girl getting married to the most wonderful man in the world.”

“Sweetheart they might not be here physically, but they are here spiritually. I know that they are happy to see their daughter getting married to a man who will love and cherish her forever and hey remember I'm here to walk you down the aisle, you may not be my child but you're a daughter to me.”

Wiping away the tear that was rolling down my cheek, I got up and hugged her again. “Thank you for being here for me Mrs. Hernandez.”

“No problem sweetheart. Ready for me to walk you down the aisle?”

Nodding my head, I took the bouquet from her and place it in my hands. Linking her arms into mine, we exited the room. The distance from where I was standing to the altar looked like a thousand miles away. I had suddenly felt nervous and I nearly had a panicked attack. If it wasn't for Mrs. Hernandez’s comforting smile, I would have bolted back inside the room.

Looking around, I saw familiar faces of persons that I have met at the small party where Kyle proposed and also my two best friends who were smiling proudly at me. Sending them a wink, I looked away.

Kyle and I wanted a small wedding and I had also told him I didn't want any bridesmaid and he said that it was okay for he didn't want any groomsman either. Hearing the music, Mrs. Hernandez and I started walking down the aisle. Standing right at the altar. was my soon-to-be fiancé who was smiling the brightest out of everyone here.

Reaching the altar, Mrs. Hernandez took the bouquet and went to stand behind me. Grabbing my hand, Kyle brought it to his lips before kissing it. Clearing his throat, the pastor began talking.

“Dearly beloved, today we are gathered here today to wed Nyla Garcia and Kyle Hernandez. This is a sign of God, who has brought these two persons standing here today together to join them in holy matrimony. If there is anyone who wishes that this two should not wed let them speak now or forever hold your peace?”

Looking around no one had hesitated or held up their hand, so the pastor continued.

“Marriage is the union of husband and wife in heart, body, soul, and mind. It is intended for their mutual joy and the help and comfort gave one another in prosperity and adversity. Through marriage, Kyle Hernandez and Nyla Garcia will make a commitment together to face their disappointments, embrace their dreams, their hopes and to accept each other failures, and stick with each other in the good and the bad times. They will promise to aspire to each other. This occasion marks the celebration of love and commitment, with which this man and this woman begin their life together. And now God has joined you together in one of the holiest bonds. Who gives this woman in marriage to this man?”

“I and her friends and family who are gathered here today do,” Mrs. Hernandez spoke up.

“You may now recite your vows,” the pastor spoke.

“Nyla I love you without end, you are the most beautiful and precious soul I ever lay my eyes on. You are one of a kind and I am proud to be standing in front of you, to take you as my wife. You have been a blessing unto me and I am grateful that you're here today to marry me. I promise to keep you safe from any danger, I promise to love you, cherish you, and always be by your side through sickness and health. I love you.”

“Kyle, I promise to be the best wife I could ever be. I promise to always be your strength and your rock in your times of need and support. I promise to love and cherish you for eternity. You're my life and my love, you have been there for me in my time of need, you have supported me and stick by me even in my most sickly time. I promise to love you, support you, and be the best wife I can be. I promise to always be by your side through sickness and in health. I love you.”

“Do you, Kyle Hernandez, take Nyla Garcia to be your lawfully wedded wife? To live together after God's ordinance in the holy estate of matrimony? Will you love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health, for richer, for poorer, for better, for worse, in sadness and in joy, to cherish and continually bestow upon him your heart's deepest devotion. Forsaking all others, keep yourself only unto him as long as you both shall live?”

“I do.”

“Do you Nyla Garcia take Kyle Hernandez to be your husband to live together after God's ordinance in the holy estate of matrimony? Will you love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health, for richer, for poorer, for better, for worse, in sadness and in joy, to cherish and continually bestow upon him your heart's deepest devotion. Forsaking all others, keep yourself only unto him as long as you both shall live?”

“I do.”

Turning to Kyle's mom, I took the rings from her and handed him one, taking his left hand, I slipped on the ring and he did the same.

“I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may kiss the bride.”

Dragging me closer to him, he started to kiss me so passionately that we had almost forgotten where we were. If it weren’t for the pastor clearing his throat, we would maybe be naked right now.

The wedding was now over and everyone was now headed to the reception. On our way there, I could feel slight contractions, but I didn't pay it any mind for I was due in two weeks.

***

Reaching the reception hall, there was a lot of food and the music was loud. Taking my hand, Kyle led me to the dance floor where we danced to Savage Garden- I knew I loved you. It was a beautiful moment that's up until the contractions got worse, and I could feel water dripping down my leg.

“Kyle,” I screamed, “my water just broke.” I could hear gasp coming from all around for the music had stopped when I screamed.

Taking my hand, he gently guided me outside and into the limousine that we came here in. he kept on telling me to breathe and I honestly wanted to punch him in his face. I was in so much pain, and all he could tell me was to breathe.

Grabbing his hand, I started squeezing the life out of it. I could hear him wincing from the pain that he was experiencing.

Arriving at the hospital, I was rushed into the delivery room. A doctor had arrived and was checking how many centimeters dilated my cervix was.

“Nyla, I need you to breathe your cervix is three centimeters dilated so the baby won't come for some time please hang in there.” Nodding my head, I was in some much pain that I was screaming my face off.

It was now twenty hours since I have been here, and I honestly couldn't bare the pain anymore. I am going to kill Kyle. Look at what he is making me go through. The doctor had left and came back two hours later.

Checking how far I was, she said the baby was coming soon for I was now seven centimeters dilated.

Kyle was standing beside me holding my hands and comforting me, I was happy he was because I was transferring some of the pain that I was feeling unto him.

It was now forty hours, and it was time for the baby to come since my cervix was now fully dilated.

“Nyla I am going to need you to push,” she told me after she had put on her gloves.

Doing as I was told, I pushed until the baby had arrived. I could hear my baby crying. I was breathing irregularly, but I was glad that it was over.

“Nyla, there is one more,” I heard the doctor called out, “I'm going to need you to push again.”

“What do you mean I have to push again? I was told I'm having one child,” I yelled through the pain.

“You’re having another baby.”

“I was told; I was just having one.”

“What you’re having now is what we call a hidden twin. This is where one child is hidden in the womb and won't show until around twenty weeks at another ultrasound or birth.”

I was in shock this can't be. I'm having twins.

Pushing again until the baby had come out, I passed out shortly afterward. I was awakening later to see Kyle and Mrs. Hernandez, each holding a baby. “What's the gender of the babies I asked Kyle?”

“It's a boy and a girl,” he proudly stated.

“What will their names be?” Mrs. Hernandez asked.

“Alejandra and Alonzo.”

“Beautiful names,” she muttered. Handing me Alonzo, I held him close to me before kissing him then doing the same with Alejandra.

Taking back the babies from me after I had bonded with them, they put them to lay in the incubator beside me. I could feel my eyes closing down.

“Go to sleep Nyla you did well today and you must be tired,” Kyle told me.

Closing my eyes, I allowed sleep to take over. I had woken up a few hours later and saw that I was in the dark. When my eyes adjusted, I could see a figure in the corner watching me.

“Kyle,” I called, but the voice that spoke back wasn't Kyle it was the voice of the person I thought I will never see again, my ex-boyfriend make,-BELIEVEex-boyfriend Eric.

“It's not Kyle.”

“What are you doing here Eric?” I asked surprised.

“I heard there was a wedding, and I wasn't invited.”

“That did not answer my question, what are you doing here?” I asked angrily.

“I came to get back for what's mine. You.”

-The end.
