Chapter 16: Chapter 16
Chapter Sixteen: Birthday Mishap
Nyla
A month later
A month has passed, which meant Kyle was being released today, and was also my birthday. The doctor said his ribs had healed and that he was doing much better which was great news. We have an appointment with the gynecologist today because we still haven't found out the gender of the baby, or how many months I am, so we are going to the gynecologist who was located on the next floor. I would have gone by myself, but Kyle was persistent in him being there with me. I also know that he is planning something for me tonight, I had gone out to get something for us to eat and some clean clothes for him and when I came back, he was on the phone talking to someone when he saw me with a nervous expression came over his face. It took a second before he recovered, and mouthed that I should wait outside for a minute.
I had tried desperately to listen in on what he was saying, but he was speaking in hush tones. His mom and sister had left earlier today, and I was happy for that because his mom still hated my guts and she still blamed me for what happened every chance she got. We had gotten into a few arguments, but Kyle had put an immediate end to each of them.
It was after six in the night before we left his room, and was headed to the next floor to the gynaecologist’s office.
“Hey, nice to meet you guys I'm Doctor Smith,” she greeted us warmly with a smile etched on her face as soon as we entered. “What are your names, if I may ask?”
“Kyle Hernandez and Nyla Garcia,” Kyle answered for the both of us.
“So what brings you in today Nyla?” She asked sweetly.
“I'm pregnant and I'm not sure how far along I am and I also want to know the gender.”
Spreading white thick paper on the examination bed, she told me I should lie down. Kicking off my slipper, I slowly ease my way up onto the bed with the help of Kyle.
“This is going to feel cold Ms. Garcia,” she warned while lifting my dress, and rubbing the thick, cold white gel on my stomach which caused me to giggle like a little school girl.
Putting the device over my stomach, she told me to look at the monitor. Turning my head, I saw my small bundle of joy and I could hear the little heartbeat. Staring at the image, she finally spoke. “You’re three months along and at this stage, you won’t be able to know the baby’s gender until you’re around four to five months. Also, keep in mind that you won’t be feeling any movements for now either. Would you like a photo of the baby?”
“Yes, that would be greatly appreciated,” Kyle said to her. Printing out the photo, she handed it to me along with baby wipes.
Thanking her, I took the wipes from her then the photo. Looking at it, I started smiling I could see my tiny little bundle of joy. Handing the photo to Kyle, I noticed that he had tears in his eyes while looking at it. Wiping away the cold jelly from off my stomach, I got up. Excusing herself, Doctor Smith exited the room. Looking back towards Kyle, I saw that he now had a sad expression on his face.
“What's wrong Kyle?”
“Nothing, it's just that I wanted to know what the gender was. I want to know if it’s a boy so he can carry on my name,” he explained.
Chuckling at him I said, “you mean you want a boy that is as handsome as you, and that will break hearts.” Feigning a hurt look, he came over to me and gently kissed my head before he told me that he would teach his son to be a man that would respect woman and their feelings. Smiling back at him, I kissed his cheek.
“Sorry to interrupt your special moment, but Ms. Garcia here's the list of vitamins you should buy and take daily. Also, please do not stress yourself out a lot, as it can cause a strain on the baby's health. Also eating and resting properly will help in having a healthy baby,” she advised me.
Nodding my head, I told her I understand everything before we walked outside to the reception area where Kyle paid the bill and left heading for the pharmacy to buy the vitamins that were listed on the prescription. After we had left the pharmacy, I saw Kyle was taking a different route that I'm not used to.
“Where are we going?” I asked curiously.
“I'm taking you to a restaurant so you can eat and enjoy your day, I had booked it earlier.”
Smiling, I thanked him, then leaned over and kiss his cheek. The rest of the ride was in silence, but it wasn't awkward. Reaching the restaurant, he helped me out of the car and led me up the stairs. “Kyle, a gynecologist’s why is the place so dark?” I asked, and as soon as those words came out, the light flickered on and out jumped my best friend Kate, Kyle’s mom and sister, and other persons whom I didn’t know.
They had cheerfully greeted me and wished me a happy birthday, everyone except his mom. His mom was just standing there, not even glancing in my direction. It was my birthday! Couldn't she just be happy for me, even if it meant faking it? Geez, that woman is really an old bat.
“Where is Kayla?” I asked Kate after the excitement had died down and I had pulled her aside.
“She told me to tell you that she couldn’t make it.” Hiding my disappointment, I nodded my head, then introduced her to Kyle before he and I moved on to his sister and other people who I didn’t know.
“Nyla, could you come with me for a second? I have something for you,” he said after he introduced me to his family members.
“What’s that?”
Walking me to the middle of the room, he told everyone to be quiet before he started talking. “Happy birthday baby. I know I didn't say it earlier, but I was waiting for this perfect moment to say it and also to ask you something very important.” Getting on one knee, he took my left hand and kissed it before asking his sister for the ring which she excitedly gave him. Looking up at me, he popped the question.
“Nyla, would you make me the happiest man alive and marry me? I know I haven't been the best person, but I want you, us to forget the past and to move on to a better and brighter future. This is me stepping up and being a man and doing the right thing. You’re having my baby; I want us to be a family, I want to come home to you every day. I know we still have a lot to learn about each other, but we can after we get married- that’s if you accept my proposal. So Nyla will you accept my hand in marriage?”
With my eyes full of tears which were threatening to release I shouted “yes.” Getting up, he lifted me off the ground and wrapped his arms around my waist. Everyone was cheering loudly. His mom hadn't uttered a word and I wondered what was going through her mind. An hour had passed, and the excitement that had been coursing through my body had now died down. My feet had started to hurt, so I went to sit down.
“What’s wrong Nyla?” Kyle asked after he saw that I looked miserable.
“My feet hurt. I just needed to sit down.”
“Come with me,” he said while holding out his hand. Taking it, he led me to another part of the restaurant that looked like a lounge. It was quieter and emptier, which made me feel better. Sitting down, he had placed me to sit on his lap before he started kissing my neck which caused me to moan. Grabbing my now aching breast, he started to squeeze them.
“Kyle, they’re tender, please take time” I moaned.
“I’m sorry,” he apologized, “let me take care of them for you” and with that, he took my breast out of my dress and started gently sucking on them. Grabbing his hair, I urged him on. While he was sucking on my breast, he used his hands to lift my dress. Shifting my panties, he rubbed his fingers over my clit before he plunged one of his digits inside my slick wet hole.
“Mm, Kyle don't stop, pl-”
“Kyle, what are you doing in here?” We heard his mom asked. Why does this woman keep interrupting us? I asked myself. Fuck.
“I know you guys are getting married soon, but this is not the place or the time to do that. So please stop whatever you guys were doing and come down, we’re leaving now.”
Getting up, I fixed my clothes and walked away leaving him. Reaching back to where the party was held, I noticed the area was now dark again and empty, and I was trying to find my way in the darkness. Feeling my way around, I finally reached the steps and before I could take a step forward I heard a familiar feminine voice in my ear.
“Bye bitch,” before I was pushed down the stairs.
