Chapter 150: Chapter 150

She felt as if she were endlessly trying to wash away the ache in her heart, her eyes reddening as tears welled, unceasing, unstoppable.

That image continually replayed in her mind.

What a torment it was!

She felt like her heart was about to explode. It felt as if her heart was no longer her own.

But still, she withstood it all.

Qi Longbing, you bastard, one day, I will make you pay back double!

Hua Xiaomo wiped away her tears with the back of her hand. Squatting by the bathroom wall, her gaze seemed frozen.

She didn’t know how long had passed when fatigue surged over her. She involuntarily closed her eyes and, leaning against the corner of the wall, fell into a deep sleep.

In the deep silence of the night, a pair of feet moved stealthily towards her. ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵✶𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖✶𝓷𝓮𝓽

He looked down at her. Then, tiptoeing, he gently lifted her, carried her to the sofa, and laid her on the comfortable cushions. He removed her shoes and socks and covered her with a blanket.

Qi Longbing smiled. He stepped back a few paces and sank onto the sofa behind him, the image of her exquisitely beautiful smile lingering in his mind, all the way until dawn.

When Hua Xiaomo woke up, her vision blurred slightly upon seeing the room again.

She looked around; Qi Longbing was already gone. Memories of last night gradually surfaced in her mind.

A pang of pain shot through her. She sat up and looked at herself. Seeing that she was unharmed and her clothes were intact, she slowly exhaled in relief.

Maybe this was the best outcome after all. At least nothing had truly happened with him.

Hua Xiaomo quickly sorted through her thoughts and got up from the sofa. After quickly tidying herself up, she walked out of the room.

Before she had even reached the bottom of the stairs, she saw a stunningly handsome man in the distance. He was wearing an elegant dark purple shirt with a star-patterned tie and leisurely enjoying his meal in the dining room.

As Qi Longbing casually glanced up, he spotted Hua Xiaomo preparing to come downstairs.

"Come down, join me for breakfast!" Qi Longbing gave her an elegant smile.

Hua Xiaomo said nothing as she walked downstairs and approached him. After a moment’s thought, she said, "President Qi, may I take a day off?"

"..." President Qi was cutting his steak with one hand, seemingly indifferent to her words. But just as Hua Xiaomo was losing patience and about to say something, he finally spoke, unhurriedly, "How long?"

"Not long, just one day will do," Hua Xiaomo answered.

Without raising his head, Qi Longbing said, "There’s a lot going on at the company right now; we’re too busy. Taking one day off is as good as not taking one at all. Have breakfast!"

His words effectively shut her down, leaving her unable to retort.

A single day off wasn’t allowed? Her expression faltered. Ever since she signed that contract half a month ago, she hadn’t had a single day off, had she?

"Sit down and eat! How many times do I have to say it?" Qi Longbing suddenly raised his head, a trace of displeasure in his blue eyes.

Couldn’t this little woman learn to behave? Was she only content after spoiling his good mood?

However, considering the immense pleasure she had given him last night, he could be a little more indulgent with her.

Hua Xiaomo fell silent and sat across from him, listlessly picking at her food. No matter how good it tasted, everything seemed bland at the moment.

"You’re so thin. Eat this," Qi Longbing said, putting a beer-braised chicken leg into her bowl.

Hua Xiaomo looked at the chicken leg, and suddenly, a thought struck her. The color drained from her pretty face, and a wave of nausea hit her. She quickly clapped a hand to her mouth, stood up, pushed back her chair, and dashed towards the restroom.

She almost bumped into Aunt Wang, who was approaching with a tureen of soup.

"I’m sorry," Hua Xiaomo apologized, her face flushed with embarrassment, but she couldn’t suppress the rising nausea.

Aunt Wang looked at her expression with surprise, a sudden understanding dawning on her. Could it be? Pregnant already?

Qi Longbing smiled at her retreating figure. When she returned, he deliberately instructed Aunt Wang, "No need for greasy food these next few days; my Xiao Mo prefers lighter fare!"

"Alright, alright," Aunt Wang said hurriedly. She thought for a moment and added, "Perhaps I should make more soups then. Drinking soup is very nourishing."

Hearing this, Hua Xiaomo frowned slightly. She looked up and met Qi Longbing’s angelic smile, but now, it looked rather sinister.

"Aunt Wang, I don’t need to be ’nourished.’ Drinking too much soup will just make it harder for me to lose weight," Hua Xiaomo said, forcing a smile.

Damn it, what on earth had he told Aunt Wang! She had absolutely no such relationship with him! All this talk about drinking soup and eating light food, making it sound as if she were pregnant. This was going to be the death of her!

Just as Aunt Wang was looking a bit troubled, Qi Longbing said with a smile, "Just do as Xiao Mo says." He then elegantly wiped his mouth, stood up, and added, "I’ll wait for you outside. Don’t take too long, okay? The company will be very busy today."

As soon as Hua Xiaomo heard this, she immediately put down her utensils. "If that’s the case, then let’s go now!"

Qi Longbing looked at the food in front of her and raised an eyebrow. "Your efficiency is quite beyond my expectations. I only asked you to be quick, not to skip eating."

"I have no appetite anyway; I can’t eat," Hua Xiaomo said, meeting his gaze, her amber eyes holding an inexplicable bitterness.

How could she possibly have an appetite after what happened last night?

"Hehe, you make it sound so serious. Well then, take some bread with you to eat slowly in the car," Qi Longbing said. He quickly had Aunt Wang pack some food, then took Hua Xiaomo’s hand, and they walked out of the villa together.

The sleek black Ferrari sped off like the wind.

Qi Longbing, wearing sleek black sunglasses, handed her the food.

Hua Xiaomo took it but just held it in her lap, neither moving nor eating. She stared blankly ahead, seemingly in a daze.

"Eat a little. Aren’t you hungry?"

A slight smile touched Qi Longbing’s lips. "I know you’re upset that I didn’t approve your leave. How about this: once this busy period is over, I’ll take you to the Maldives for a nice vacation to relax properly. How does that sound?"

The words went in one ear and out the other for Hua Xiaomo. Without much thought, she blurted out, "No need."

Suddenly, with a screech of tires, Qi Longbing slammed on the brakes and pulled the car over to the side of the road. He looked at her, somewhat displeased. "What did you say?"

A woman was actually rejecting his, Qi Longbing’s, invitation? Fine, he must have been mistaken about her. This woman was clearly sent just to provoke him!

"Hua Xiaomo, must you be so tactless?" Qi Longbing’s stunningly handsome face seemed to glow. One hand on the steering wheel, he turned to face her, his eyes glinting coldly as they roamed over her.

The indifferent expression on Hua Xiaomo’s face instantly vanished, replaced by a bright smile. "Not at all, President Qi, you misunderstood me. I meant to say, could there perhaps be a place even more exciting than the Maldives?"
