Chapter 22: Chapter 22
Kim and Landon walked to the car without looking back. Kim opened the door and hopped into the car, Landon did the same thing and ignited the engine. He drove out of the hospital hitting the road. Kim glared at him speechlessly to the extent that he noticed she was staring.
“Why are you staring at me?” He asked without looking at her. “Why did you do that?” She asked in a low tone. “Do what?” he asked coldly. “You defended me there indirectly.” She stated and Landon scoffed. “I didn’t, I was protecting my money. What if you had gone to talk to him and in the process run off with my money?” he asked and Kim furrowed her brows.
“I would never do that, you should know.” She uttered and Landon creased his brows. “I should know? How do you expect me to know?” He asked and Kim sighed. “Never mind then.” She said looking outside the window and Landon stole a glance of her with a smirk on her face.
After minutes of driving, Landon got to his mansion and parked his car with the other cars. Kimberly claimed down the car and waited at the door for Landon to open up. Landon claimed down also and walked majestically to the door knowing Kim would surely be looking at him. He tried using his key when he noticed the door was open already.
“What the hell?” he stated opening the door and walking into the mansion carefully. He looked around and then saw someone familiar sitting on his couch. “Mother?” he called and she looked back with a large smile on her face. “Landon! My baby boy.” She said, opening her hands wide and he rushed into her arms, hugging her tightly.
“When did you arrive? I missed you so much.” He said and she smiled. “A few minutes ago.” She replied looking at his back to see Kim standing with her head slightly bowed. “Good day Ma'am.” Kim greeted and with a smile on her face, she looked at her son. “Is she?” She asked Landon, and he shook his head immediately.
“No, No she isn’t mum. This is my maid.” He said and Kim was forced to look at Landon. “Arrogant Motherf**ker.” She thought, fighting the urge to frown at him in front of his mother. “Your maid? When will you bring your wife home, Son?” She asked, and Landon cleared his throat looking at Kim. “You can leave. Your services aren’t needed.” He said to Kim and she nodded walking away.
“Please get me some juice dear.” His mother said to her and she nodded smiling. “I will Ma'am,” Kim responded and Landon gazed at her as she walked away. “Landon?” His mother noticed how he was acting around her. “Yes mother, please have your seat.” He said and she smiled sitting. Landon also took his seat next to his mother, smiling too.
“So where did you go? It's the weekend and you don’t go to work.” His mother said and he nodded. “I was out.” He said grinning. “With your maid?” she asked and he nodded. “Is it bad?” He asked and she shook her head. “It is not, but it is weird hearing that from you. You have never been out with any lady before, except me.” She said, and he smiled.
Kim walked to the living room carrying a tray that had orange juice on it. She placed it on the table next to his mom and stood upright to leave. “Thank you, child.” She said and Kim smiled nodding.
She walked away totally ignoring Landon and he stared at her again till she was out of sight. His mother smiled seeing the way he looked at her.
“Are you sure she is just a maid to you?” She asked and he furrowed his brows nodding. “Of course. Because I was out with her in the hospital doesn’t mean she is more than a maid to me, Mother.” He said. “The hospital? To do what?” She asked, narrowing her gaze. “It’s not what you think mom. Her father is ill so she had to visit him. I decided to render help by taking her there with my car.” He said, and she nodded slowly.
“How is he now?” She asked and he nodded. “I don’t know, we were not able to see him. Mom, it’s no big deal.” He said nonchalantly, and she smiled. “Though I still feel you have a soft spot for her. I know you, Landon, you are my son, and to be honest, you are not that nice. You seem nicer to this girl.” She said, and he heaved a sigh.
.
“Stop imagining things, mom. She is just a maid, that's all.” He said standing up and she nodded. “Okay, but I like her.” She said, arching her brows as she sipped her drink. “Mother, I need to use the restroom, I will be back soon.” He said and she bobbed.
After he was out of sight, his mother decided to call on the maid and have a chat with her. “Maid!” She called not knowing what to call her because she didn’t know her name. Kimberly heard the woman call from the room, she quickly rushed out of the room to answer her. “Ma'am.” She said as soon as she got to the living room.
“Sorry for calling you that, I don't know your name.” She said smiling. “I am Kimberly,” Kim said, smiling too. “Wow Kimberly, that is a nice name, I am Sara. Please have your seat.” Sara said, and Kim's eyes widened. “Have my seat?” She asked and she nodded.
“Yes, you don’t have to worry about my son, sit.” She uttered and Kimberly nodded sitting on the couch. “I just want us to have a little chat,” Sara said, and Kim smiled. Though it wasn’t a true one, she was wondering why his mother would want to have a chat with his maid. Maybe she does this every time.
“How do you see my son Landon?” She asked, and Kim creased her brows in confusion. “I don’t understand Ma'am.” She uttered. “Don’t act like you don’t understand. Okay let me come out plain, do you like my son?” She asked and Kim's eyes widened and she swallowed hard, staring at his mother speechlessly.
“what if I say no and she fires me? What if I say yes and she thinks I am trying to seduce her son?” Kim thought and all of a sudden she began to sweat.
