“ I have meetings to attend today again, Please let me know when you want to see her. And please, don’t tell Grandma for now” Alfred pleaded. “ Don’t worry kid, your Secret is safe with us” The youngest said and Alfred left.
The uncles looked at the Assistant and he bowed his head and walked ahead of Alfred to get the door. Alfred had called his uncles that morning before the meetings started. He thought about it the previous night before he could sleep, he wanted Everything to move smoothly and so, he took that bold step.
They went home, Vanessa and Mara were in the garden playing games when the gates opened. Vanessa turned to see who it was and her heart started beating fast. She held her chest, surprised on why her heart was beating.
“ weird” She said. She looked at Mara who didn’t stop what she was doing and she raised a brow. “ Mara, your Daddy is back” Vanessa said and Mara rolled her eyes. “ I don’t want to see him” She said. “ why?” Vanessa asked. “ Because he didn’t take me with him” She said and Vanessa’s face lit up. “ Really? Do you want us to run away from him and stay with Uncle Derek?” She asked and before Mara could say a word, Alfred approached them smiling. “ Hi baby, you are mad at Daddy right?” He asked but Mara ignored him. He took the bag in his Assistant’s hand and shoes it to Mara.
“ I bought Candies” He said and Mara dropped the toy in her hand. She grabbed the bag and brought out a bar of chocolate. “ Wow! Thanks Daddy” She turned to Vanessa who wasn’t looking happy that Alfred had spoiled her plan. “ Mummy, I don’t want to run away and live with Uncle Derek” She said. Alfred looked at Vanessa, he chuckled and carried Mara up. “ Let’s go Inside” He said and they left Vanessa’s presence.
“ This girl!” she crushed the Cookies in her palm. “ I wonder why his face is that way. Anyways, I’ll go find out” She stood up, packed the toys and went inside the house. Alfred was on the sofa when she entered in a hurry, he turned to the door and Vanessa looked away. She looked around but Mara wasn’t there and so, She cleared her throat. “ What?” Alfred asked her. She walked past him and sat down on the sofa
“ Nothing” Vanessa said. She was Ted to stretch her legs on the sofa but couldn’t, because that house doesn’t belong to her or her friends or family. She was already fed up sitting in the house without going anywhere and her legs hurt from sitting all day. “ You can stretch them on the sofa” Alfred said when he saw her pressing her legs. “ No I’m fine” Vanessa said but deep down, she wanted to put them there. “ Don’t be shy, you can do anything you like here. This is your house” Alfred said. She gave him a mischievous smile which only she understand.
“ I didn’t ask for it, you said that” Vanessa said and he nodded his head. He was so tired from all the meetings and the talks with his uncle and the only thing he needed was to take a shower, eat and take a nap. Vanessa stretched her legs in the sofa, She heaved a sigh of relief smiling. “ This feels so Good” She picked up the remote from the table and changed the channel. “ I’ve watched this” she said and changed it to another channel again. She went on and on Changing the channels that Alfred’s attention was now on her.
He was surprised seeing her doing that, Vanessa stopped in the channel which was showing a music. She increased the volume in such a way that even someone outside could hear it. Bella ran out of the kitchen to see who it was playing the music loudly. She froze when she saw Alfred looking at Vanessa who was holding the remote. She thought it was Mara but it was the mother, she looked at the Boss again before going back inside the kitchen and closed the door Quietly.
Alfred forbid playing music in the house because he hated loud noises. Music disturbed him a lot especially whenever he was tired. Vanessa was enjoying the atmosphere, she did that on purpose to see his reaction but he didn’t say a word.. Alfred knew it was his fault for telling her she could do anything she likes in the house, he wished he had tell her not to play music in the house.
“ Uhm Vanessa” He called but the music was too loud that she didn’t hear his voice. “ Vanessa” He called again. He stood up from the sofa, moved closer to the sofa which Vanessa was sitting on. He snatched the remote control from her hand and turned off the Television. “ What are you doing?” She asked him and he sighed. “ Nothing” He said because he didn’t know what to say to her. “ Then why did you turn it off?” She asked him. “ I… I’m hungry” He finally said and Vanessa Chuckled.
“ Then go tell your maids to cook for you” She snapped at him. “ I want yours” She raised her brow and stood up from the sofa. “ I’m not your cook and I won’t cook for you” She said to him. She turned to leave but he stopped her. “ Mara said you are a Good Cook” Alfred said, she turned back slowly and smiled. “ Yes she’s right” She said. Vanessa loves complements a lot especially when it has to do with her cooking skills. “ So, I want to taste the Food prepare by the world most perfect chef” He said and she Smiled excitedly. “ Oh I’m faltered. What do you want to eat?” She asked him. “ Anything Good, are you sure you can do it?” He asked her.
