Chapter 31: Chapter 31

“ I said you should move this car, now!! Or you lose your Job” He yelled at him. The Assistant started the car, he flashed them with the light and the two men ran away with Vanessa’s bag.

Alfred yelled at the Assistant to stop the car again and he ran out of the car, he ran to Vanessa who was kneeling on the ground. She held Mara to her chest as Mara cried. Alfred knelt beside her and hugged her, he was so terrified.

“ Are you okay?” He asked and Vanessa nodded her head. She stared at him as he touched her face to make sure she wasn’t hurt. Tears Dropped from her eyes and the rain poured heavily on them. “ Take Mara to the car” Alfred Commanded his Assistant. He took Mara away from Vanessa and ran back inside the car. Alfred helped Vanessa up, her legs were shaking as she stood on her feet.

“ Can you walk?” He asked her but she couldn’t say a word. He lifted her on his arms and went to the car, She sat in the back with Mara while Alfred sat in the front. “ Drive fast” He said to the Assistant as he was afraid that Mara and Vanessa might catch a cold anytime soon. Vanessa hugged Mara tightly, she was still crying from the attack. Little Mara was so scared seeing the guns and how the thugs were shouting on them.

They arrived at Alfred’s home, He helped Vanessa out of the car and the Assistant Carried Mara on his arms. He Hurried inside with Mara and saw the maids in the sitting room.

“ Bath her with hot water and keep her warm” He gave Mara to Mary and Alfred walked in holding Vanessa’s hand. The maids turned to them , their jaw dropped seeing the cool side of their Boss. Bella and the Assistant watched as Alfred helped Vanessa up the stairs. She looked at the Assistant who Whose clothe was dripping wet.

“ What happened?” She asked him looking so confused. “ It’s a long Story” He sighed and walked away. “ A long story? But what is the Boss doing with that lady? Mara is also crying. Oh God, I must find out what happened” Bella picked up the towel and went back to the kitchen. She was so curious to know what was happening and so she followed Mary to the room where she took Mara.

Alfred held Vanessa to his own room, he showed her the bathroom and left the room. Vanessa on the other hand was still in shock about everything that happened. Her money was gone, the money she worked hard for, the money she wanted to use to get out of that city for Good.

“ My Money” Vanessa said as tears dropped from her eyes. Her hairs and dress were still drenched, She cleaned her face and sniffed. “ I’ll get through this” She stood up from the bed and entered the bathroom he showed her. At first, she found it hard to operate the Tap as it was different from the ones she had seen. She took a hot shower and washed her hairs with the shampoo.

She came out of the bathroom tying a very big towel on her chest above her Ankle. She was still thinking of what to wear when she saw a set of clothes been folded on the bed. She moved closer to the bed and Chuckled.

“ Men’s clothe?” She looked Alfred Pajamas which was on the bed and sighed. “ Oh well, I have no choice” She put on the pajamas which was so big for her and she shook her head while standing in front of the mirror. “ Where’s Mara?” She turned around and was about leaving the room when Alfred came in. He looked at her from head to toe and looked at the folded dress in his hand.

“ Where’s Mara?” She asked him as he placed the dress on the bed. “ She’s in the other room” Alfred said. “ Which room? Can you direct me there?” she asked him and he sighed. “ Yes but, why are you putting on my pajamas?” He asked her and Vanessa raised a brow. “ I thought you wanted me to wear them” She said. “ Nope, that’s for me to wear. Here are yours” He pointed to the dress on the bed. Vanessa was so ashamed, she wished the ground could open and swallow her. “ I didn’t know. Take me to Mara” She said opening the door.

He led her to the room which Mara was been dressed up. Mara was still crying, She ran to Vanessa when she entered the room.

“ It’s okay baby, We are safe” Vanessa Carried her up and sat down on the bed, she placed Mara on her thighs and continued dressing her up. Bella and Mary where so surprised when they saw Vanessa put on the Boss’s Pajamas , they exchanged glances and left the room quickly.

“ Did you see that?” Bella whispered to Mary when they had closed the door. “ Of course I saw it, oh My God!” She exclaimed. “ That lady is so pretty” Bella said and Mary agreed with her. “ She’s so pretty and I think the Boss is so in love with her. Did you see the way he was looking at her?” She asked Mary who was Nodding her head like a lizard. “ I saw that too, it’s so filled with love” Mary said. They went back to the kitchen and continued with their gossips. “ I wonder what happened to them and what she meant by they were safe” Mary said and just then, the Assistant Entered the kitchen.

He had changed in to a warm and comfortable clothes and was there for Hot tea.

“ What Happened out there?” Bella asked touching his shoulder. Mary saw that and she wasn’t happy about it but she looked away.
