Chapter 18: Chapter 18

“ Go back to that Estate and bring Mara’s Mum here” Alfred said to his Assistant 2 hours later. The Assistant wasn’t happy with all that was happening, he wished he hadn’t forced Alfred to come back for his niece’s birthday.

“ And make sure you don’t return without her” Alfred warned. The Assistant left the house, he blamed himself for everything.

He arrived at the Estate and knocked on the door but Got no response. He knocked and knocked until his hands started aching.

“ Oh well, there aren’t at home. They may probably be out there looking for Mara” He sighed and sat down on the steps. “ What should I tell the Boss? He warned me not to return without her” He supported his chin with his palm and shook his head.

“ I’ll wait for them. But what if she returns and get me arrested for taking her kid? No no, that won’t happen. The president of GI conglomerate is my Boss so, I’m safe” He smiled but Sighed again.

“ The Boss isn’t trying to Marry her right? I hope he’s not. She’s a Nobody, his Family won’t even Agree to it”

Hours passed by but Vanessa didn’t return, The Assistant got so tired and left at last. He arrived home and met Alfred in the Garden, he was dressed in a fine suit which was unlike him.

Alfred only dressed in suits whenever he had a meeting or when he was going to the office. The Assistant parked the car in the garage, his heart was beating fast as he was so scared.

“ Where’s she?” He asked but the Assistant couldn’t say a word. He bowed his head a little thinking of what answer to gave His Boss. “ I said where’s she?” Alfred repeated with an Angry tone.

“ I…I’m Sorry Boss, she’s not at Home” He finally found the Courage. Alfred Raised a brow, he wasn’t surprised that Vanessa’s wasn’t at home but he thought she should be at home by that time of the day. It was 7pm already and a responsible girl shouldn’t be outside by then.

“ Did you ask around?” He asked the Assistant. “ No Boss, no one was outside” He answered. Mara wasn’t there and it surprised him. “ Where’s Mara?” He asked Looking so concerned. “ She’s Inside” Alfred answered him thinking His Assistant cared about Mara.

“ When is she leaving?” He asked and Alfred Chuckled. “ And who told you she would he leaving? Make sure you go back to that house tomorrow and bring her here” He said and went inside the house.

The Assistant was Disappointed that His Boss wouldn’t send Mara away.

“ I don’t like that girl” He said and was interrupted by his phone which was ringing.

Earlier on as Alfred was patiently waiting for his Assistant to bring Vanessa to him, He decided to dressed up so that she would agree to live with him.

He stood in front of the mirror admiring himself and he remembered that day he met Mara and Vanessa. He smiled when he remembered the moment Vanessa fell on his shoulder, it was weird but he started feeling something in his heart.

It Seemed like Vanessa has stolen his heart after their fist encounter and he found himself thinking about Mara and Vanessa. Alfred didn’t mind what other people would say when they find out Mara was his Child.

He was Happy that he had a daughter even though he didn’t remember How he got her.

“ Daddy, you look so handsome” Mara complemented him. He turned to her and smiled. “ Really?” He asked. “ Yes Daddy. Are you going out?” Mara asked “ No baby” He answered her.

“ Then you’re expecting a guest” She said and he nodded his head “ Yes, Do you think my Guest would Admire me?” He asked her and Mara Nodded her head.

“ Of course. If your Guest is a girl, she’ll Fall in Love with you” Mara said and Alfred Giggled. “ What if the guest is Your Mum?” He asked and Mara laughed. He was taken aback as he looked at her laughing.

“ My Mum is obsessed with Handsome guys , She will definitely fall in love with you” Mara said Laughing. Alfred Smiled, He was Glad by what Mara had said.

“ Baby, wait for me here and don’t come out of the room. Okay?” He said and Mara gave him a thumb up. “ okay” He smiled and left the room. Alfred went out of the house, he walked around the house looking at the flowers and how neat his House was even if he didn’t always stay in the State.

“ They are doing a Good job” He touched a rose flower and sniffed his hand. “ Beautiful” He heard a car horn and turned to the gate. His face brightened up when he saw the Assistant driving in.

“ She’ll definitely fall for me” He Smiled and fixed his eyes on the car waiting for Vanessa to step out. He was Disappointed when his Assistant came out of the car alone and gave him the Bad News.

Alfred wasn’t happy, he went back inside the house and sat on a sofa.

“ Can I get you anything?” Bella asked holding a towel, She was cleaning the Television when Alfred entered the room. “ Get me a cup of Water” He said and Bella left Hurriedly. Alfred untied his Tie and unbutton his Sleeve.

“ Hey Bella, why are you in a hurry?” The other maid asked immediately Bella entered the kitchen. “ The Boss need a glass of water” She said opening the fridge. “ Don’t you think something is going on with the Boss today?” She asked but Bella wasn’t listening to her.

“ Hey Bella” She called “ I’m sorry, I’ll be right back” Bella said going out of the kitchen

Bella returned with a glass cups of Mineral water, she gave it to him and stood in his side for him to hand over the cup to her. He took a sip and stood up

“ Make something light for Mara” He said giving her the cup, Bella took the cup and left for the kitchen.
