Chapter 10: Chapter 10
“ I wonder what other things she fed you with. Anyways, let’s get going” He said opening the back door.
“ But I want to go with Mummy” Mara insisted. “ Then I’ll go tell your Daddy that you said you don’t want to see him ever again” The Assistant said with a mischievous smile. “ But I didn’t say that” Mara Defended herself.
“ Then get in to the car” The Assistant said, Mara looked around and then entered the car. “ You’ll come pick up my Mummy later, right?” She asked him as he closed the door. “ Of course” He said and walked over to the driver’s seat.
Immediately he started the car, he saw Vanessa ran out of the house calling Mara’s name, He knew he would be in trouble if Vanessa saw him with Mara and so, He locked the doors and the windows.
He started the car and drove past Mara who was standing beside a tree calling Mara’s name. Mara saw her mum, She shouted but Vanessa couldn’t hear or see her because the Windows were all tinted.
“ That’s My Mummy, stop the car and take her” Mara said to the Assistant but he increased the speed. “ Mummy!” Mara shouted but Vanessa couldn’t hear her.
He drove out of the estate and made his way to the Southern part of the City where Alfred’s house was located. Immediately he arrived at the house, He blared pressed a button in the car and the gates started opening by themselves.
The gate opened revealing a very large Mansion. The Exterior view of the house was a sight to behold, one look at the house and you would know that it belongs to a billionaire. In the middle of the house stood a fountain with a statue of a dollar sign.
Beds and different types of flowers made the house Looked like it was a paradise on Earth. The Assistant parked the car in front of the Mansion and came down, he opened the back door where Mara was but she was fast asleep.
“ No wonder I didn’t hear anything again” He said carrying her out of the car. He put her on his shoulder and made his way inside the house.
Immediately he opened the Very large Gold colored Door, His Sense of smell was met with a very sweet scent. The Sofa's In the living room where that of Royalties and all in Gold color.
Alfred’s large portrait was hung on the wall a little distance away from the TV on the wall. The TV occupied half of the wall. Alfred sat on one of the sofa’s facing the entrance door, He stood up immediately His Assistant walked inside the room with Mara on his shoulder.
“ She’s Asleep” He said laying her down on a sofa. “ Where’s her mum?” Alfred asked looking at Mara who was sleeping soundly on the sofa.
“ I. I don’t know” He turned to his Assistant giving him a Questionable look.
“ What do you mean by that? You kidnaped her?” The Assistant scratched his head, He took some steps back and Smiled nervously. “ She was outside, playing alone and…” Alfred interrupted him. “ And you kidnaped her? What’s wrong with you?” Alfred queried lowering his voice so as not to wake Mara.
“ I’m sorry” The Assistant apologized. “ Just go, I’ll call when I need you” Alfred said and the Assistant left the Room.
He bent down in front of the sofa and held Mara’s tiny hands in his, he smiled touching her innocent face.
“ She’s so pretty , she looks like Amy or should I say us? She have our family face” He touched her neck and something caught his attention.
“ What da!” He Exclaimed after he saw the mark on her neck, He stood up quickly and stood in front of the mirror in the left side of the living room where the stairs were. He looked at his neck and found the mark still visible.
“ Is she really… My Child?” He looked at Mara again and then at himself. “ But how did this happen? She has the same birth mark on my neck, she looks like me and… Oh my God” He went back to Mara again and looked at her confusingly.
“ Are you my child?” He said looking at her. He stood upright and picked up his phone from the table, he dialed a number and they spoke for some minutes before ending the call.
“ We’ll soon know if you are mine” He said smiling, he Carried her on his arms and went up the stairs, he lay her down on his king size bed and covered her with a blanket.
“ What should I do now?” Vanessa wiped the tears in her eyes. “ Don’t worry Vanessa, Mara will be found” Derek consoled her. She had gave him a call when she couldn’t find Mara and Derek came home as fast as he could.
4 hours had already passed but they still couldn’t find Mara, they had looked everywhere inside the Estate and even outside but Mara was nowhere to be found. Derek suggested they report the case to the Police and they did.
“ I don’t want to lose my baby, I don’t know when she left the house” Vanessa cried. She sat on the floor in a crouch position, supporting her back to the couch while Derek sat on the Couch consoling her.
“ What was I thinking? What was I even thinking about?” Vanessa cried. She cleaned her face and looked at Derek “ What should I do now Derek? Please help me” She said and he sighed. Derek came down from the Couch and held her hand. “ We’ll find Mara, let’s patiently wait for the call from the police, I know they’ll find her. You know Mara likes wandering around, maybe she went out of the estate and didn’t know her way back. Don’t worry Vanessa, Mara is a smart kid, she won’t get lost” He assured her.
