Chapter 44: Chapter 44

“We will check them and get back to you on those things soon,” the man says over the phone.

“Okay that would be fine, thank you. Please remember it takes place in a month or two and I would love that everything is prepared before that day just to avoid any sort of excuses or so” she said walking out of the school building to hail down a taxi.

“Okay, we will make sure there will be no interruptions on that day ma’am” he assured and she smiled.

“Okay, thank you so much, I will let you know when there is more to do or if anything comes up. Thank you and bye” she hung up and put her phone back in her pocket.

She just closed for the day at the university and needs to get to the company to talk with the engineers again.

She walked a bit when she couldn't spot a taxi nearby and decided to take the bus if she didn't see one. But would it be fine to do so? Dimitri had warned her not to take public transport since they were married and she would be more exposed to danger.

She remembered laughing it off and asking who would want to hurt them if they offended or hurt no one. He just told her not to do so and act stupid, emphasizing more on the ‘stupid’ word.

She was tempted to disobey his stupid order but thought that aside from the fact he could be a jerk, it was still caring on his side to tell her that. Yeah, she could get hurt or something since she is now more public than she ever wanted.

Perks of marrying a billionaire and not just any billionaire. It was the ‘Dimitri Miguel Lorenzo’. She looked at her ring finger letting her gaze linger on her wedding and engagement ring, something she had been doing since she got married. Feels surreal, indeed. She let out a sigh and looked up.

She twisted her lips in annoyance and decided to wait at the same place she normally boards taxis for one to come. At least she isn't forbidden from boarding one. Remembering she had to talk to her dad she stopped and opened her bag to take out her phone.

She held her phone in her hand and saw missed calls from both Sofia and her dad and decided to call her dad first then go over to Sofia’s place since she didn't come to work today.

She dialed her dad’s number and placed it on her ear then took a few steps forward, as the dialing continued she waited for her dad to pick it up. She took it from her ear and dialed the number again then placed it on her ear again.

It all happened fast, all she heard was a gasp, and before she could turn around to look at what was happening she felt a hand wrap itself around her waist and was pulled to a hard surface.

The black-colored car went past the spot she was standing seconds ago and knocked off the speed limit sign before speeding down the road.

There was an eerie sound and more gasp and talking but none was getting to her head. Her head was blank and she felt dizzy, her eyes blurry a bit and her hands shaking, her legs felt like jelly and she would have fallen if it weren't for the hands that held her.

What just happened? She couldn't explain that but the knowledge that she would have been that speed limit sign made her shake in fear and dread. Unable to take it anymore she felt her eyes drop and started falling slowly.

She looked up at the person that held her for a while but her eyes were blurry and it was impossible for her to see the person. She felt a blue rise up her throat and wanted to throw up but nothing seemed to want to come out.

“Are you okay ma’am?” was what she could make out before blacking out.

“Are you okay?” Sofia looked at her with worry still settled on her face and placed her hand on her friend's own.

She looks at her friend and nods before wiping the tears that came down her eyes again. She couldn't seem to calm herself down since she woke up from her unconscious state. She had been all shaky and jumpy and was all because of her almost accident.

“When will I get discharged?” she asked, looking at her mum, mother-in-law, and friend.

They just looked at her with nothing but worry and her mum came to sit beside her on the bed and hugged her. Just then Dimitri walked in with his Dad and father-in-law and his phone pressed on his ear.

He took a glance at his wife who was in her mother's embrace. Audriana raised her head to look at him but put her head back on her mum’s shoulder. Sofia stood up and went to Dimitri who had gotten off the phone and was talking to both men in hushed voices.

“What’s going on guys? Did you manage to find anything? That possibly couldn't be an accident” Sofia said then glanced at her friend before looking back at the men.

“Yes, I know it can't be an accident but if it was intentional, who would want to kill Audriana? Did she offend someone who desires revenge? I remember the incident at the Hotel we lodged in for our honeymoon. It was Audriana who had a bad experience” he frowned a bit and caressed his jaw with his fingers.

“Sofia, has something like this happened before?” he turned to Sofia looking all serious.

She looked in thought and shook her head no “Er, no not at all” she answered “I am just surprised this is happening,” she looked back at her friend again and faced the men again “Well, I think she hasn't gotten ov-”

“Hi, sorry for interrupting,” a red-haired man said from the door and the four of them turned their heads to look at him.

Dimitri raised an eyebrow at the man who had a checkered blue shirt on with black jeans and sneakers. His hair was gelled to the back and he was holding sunflowers and wearing a smile. Dimitri’s frown deepened and turned his full body to the man then folded his arms.

“Who are you?”
