Chapter 241: Chapter 241
Adrian Desmond had prepared many surprises and activities today, but unfortunately, none of them had turned out as he’d hoped. Not only did they fail to achieve the desired outcome, but he had also ended up becoming a laughingstock.
"You’re the only one who ever uses me as a punching bag. How could I dare to make you angry?" he said with a wronged expression.
"I wouldn’t dare upset the Sixth Master!"
Adrian Desmond looked at Sienna Johnson, then said, "Just you wait!" With that, he got up and left.
Sienna Johnson looked around the unfamiliar room: the large bed, the European-style decor, a soft mattress, goose-down pillows, and matching furniture. The house’s antique exterior hid the fact that all the furniture inside had been replaced.
This man is clearly a mysophobe; he won’t use things other people have used. If I marry Kenneth Brown, maybe he’ll finally give up on me, she thought.
She got up and walked to a table by the window. On it was a photo album with pictures of Adrian Desmond and Curly at an amusement park. Curly had become less clingy since Adrian’s arrival because he spent time with her, fulfilling all her wishes.
She picked up a photo. Her gaze fell from her daughter’s small face to Adrian Desmond’s smiling one. Curly was riding on Adrian’s shoulders, hugging his head, her face radiating trust in him.
"What are you looking at?"
Adrian Desmond suddenly appeared behind her. Sienna Johnson jumped, and the photo album in her hands dropped onto the table. Adrian circled around her, picked up the album, wiped it, and said, "It would have been nice if you were in these too."
Sienna Johnson changed the subject. "Where did you go just now?"
Adrian Desmond handed Sienna Johnson a folder. As she took it, an uncertain thought formed in her mind. This can’t be the evidence of Sabrina Johnson stealing the formula for the specialized drug, can it?
Sienna Johnson took it out. Inside were audio and video recordings. She couldn’t view or listen to them at the moment, but the photos alone were enough to prove that Sabrina Johnson was the suspect.
Sienna Johnson, who had been worried all night, finally felt at ease after receiving this evidence. She looked up at Adrian Desmond and said sincerely, "Adrian, thank you."
A single kiss, as they had agreed.
Sienna Johnson didn’t act coy. She stood on her tiptoes, steadied herself by placing a hand on his strong arm, and kissed his cheek. It’s just a ’greeting kiss,’ nothing to make a fuss about, she consoled herself.
"Not enough!" Suddenly, Adrian Desmond cupped the back of her head, his tongue invading her mouth assertively.
Adrian Desmond’s masculine scent washed over her, rendering Sienna Johnson motionless. The file in her hands fell to the floor, making a distinct sound. His hands began to roam her back, stopping at her waist, venturing no further down.
The kiss was long, seeming to stretch for an eternity. Adrian Desmond finally released her, his breathing heavy, the corners of his eyes red. He was desperately restraining himself from tearing apart the woman before him.
"That was the interest!"
Sienna Johnson’s instincts screamed that Adrian Desmond was dangerous right now. She bent to pick up the file from the floor, intending to flee, but he grabbed her again, pressing something hard against her. His voice hoarse, he said, "Let me hold you for a moment."
"Adrian, you said you wouldn’t force me!"
"I’m not forcing you! This afternoon, I was supposed to get a cheek kiss for telling you who the thief was. I told you, but you didn’t give me the kiss. Now you’re asking me for evidence again. So, this kiss had to be longer to include the one you owed me from this afternoon."
"I don’t want your gratitude. You’ve thanked me too many times. I’m afraid you’ll end up owing me so much that you’ll never be able to repay it all in this lifetime, leaving you no choice but to offer yourself to me."
It took all of Adrian Desmond’s strength to resist touching her further. The moment he let her go, Sienna Johnson practically fled the room.
CLICK, CLICK... Adrian Desmond listened to the staccato clicks of high heels on the wooden floor, the footsteps hurried and rushed. He walked to the bed and collapsed onto it, the mattress sinking softly beneath him.
His condition was dire. He was burning up, and that woman had run off, irresponsibly leaving him without dousing the flames. She was right next door. If he were just a bit more forceful, tonight...
His ’little tent’ pitched high. All the romance he had tried to conjure today was now stripped of its veneer, becoming starkly, crudely real...
I know you like types like Noah Phillips, but all men are the same! When a man sets his mind on a woman, all he really wants is to get her into bed. I’m no exception!
I’m enduring this now so I won’t have to later!
Just endure it a little longer!
Adrian Desmond got up, glanced at his ’little tent,’ sighed, and resignedly headed for a cold shower.
Sienna Johnson was equally panicked. She jogged all the way back to the Johnson Family home, having lost her usual composure and self-control.
Everyone in the Johnson Family home was asleep. Sienna Johnson changed into slippers in the entryway, tiptoeing inside.
"Where have you been?" Pauline Briggs had been waiting in the living room for Sienna Johnson to return.
An hour had passed since Pauline Briggs had seen Sienna Johnson enter the house next door, and Sienna was only just now returning.
Pauline Briggs’s gaze swept over Sienna Johnson, noticing her slightly swollen lips. As an experienced woman, she knew exactly what that implied.
Fury surged within her, and Pauline Briggs scolded, "Sienna, how did I raise you? Weren’t you the one who insisted on getting engaged to Kenneth Brown, despite my objections? Now you’re sneaking into the neighbor’s house late at night. What is the meaning of this?"
Although mother and daughter lived under the same roof, they rarely communicated, making their relationship distant. Original content can be found at NoveIFire.net
"Madam Johnson, I am an adult. My affairs do not require your concern!"
It was that same line again. Sienna was clearly annoyed by her meddling.
"If you weren’t my daughter, do you think I’d bother with you?" Pauline Briggs retorted, exasperated.
Pauline Briggs was very traditional. She believed a woman should be faithful to one man her entire life. In her eyes, Sienna Johnson’s behavior was utterly wanton and immoral.
"I’m not your daughter!"
Pauline Briggs burst into tears. "After all these years, you still hate me? What on earth do you want me to do?"
"I will support you. You will continue to live the life you had when Father was alive, and I will ensure you can live that way until you die. However, you are not to interfere in any of my affairs!"
Sienna Johnson ignored Pauline Briggs’s tears and hurried upstairs to examine the video and documents Adrian Desmond had given her. She needed to assess the evidence’s true value. Pauline, however, pursued her. "Sienna Johnson, you can’t just walk away! You tell me right now, what is your relationship with that man who just moved in next door?"
"Madam Johnson, that’s enough!"
