Chapter 492: Chapter 492

Belissar zipped about while Niobee ran around under him for quite a while, fully enjoying flying with buzzing bee wings. He could see the entire karnuq settlement with his main two eyes and the light of the sun from a smaller one on top of his head!

And…he could feel the hive of hives, deeper than ever before! Niobee’s body was connected to them all through the Tower, so Belissar could now perceive every bee at once! So that was how Niobee always knew whenever anything happened in the Tower!

But then, his vision shifted. He found himself looking out of two eyes facing forward and much closer to the ground. He blinked and looked down, finding human hands once more. He let out a light sigh but laughed immediately afterwards.

“Well, that was fun. Niobee, are you back to normal too?”

Niobee zipped down and landed on his head.

“King! Niobee ok! King ok?”

“Yes!” The latest_epɪ_sodes are on_the novęlfire.net

Finnakynne slowly hovered to them both, blinking repeatedly.

“Belissar…you’re really alright? Both of you?”

Belissar nodded with a smile, causing Finnakynne to furrow her brow.

“But…the God of Mischief tricked you. You aren’t upset about it? Either of you?”

Belissar raised an eyebrow.

“Upset? Why would I be? I got to be a bee, Finnakynne! I got to fly around and see the world how Niobee sees it! It was amazing!”

Niobee danced happily about on his head.

“Was like King! Was amazing, incredible!”

Finnakynne grunted and groaned to herself for a moment before shrugging with a smile.

“Well, as long as you’re both ok, then. I’m sorry I didn’t warn you something like that might happen.”

Belissar was about to wave off her apology when an idea suddenly struck him. He instead leaned forward.

“Wait, Finnakynne…do you know how to do that to? Turn humans into bees or vice versa? You can change your body, right?”

Finnakynne blinked yet again.

“Huh? Well, um, I’ve never done body-swapping before and I would’ve thought you couldn’t do it to a dungeon master or a conduit…or maybe it was because you were both connected and receiving a reward with daddy’s power that it worked? I do know shapeshifting and illusions though, yes.”

Belissar’s eyes sparkled.

“Can you teach me? I’ve been trying to form bee wings!”

Finnakynne paused for a moment and then began to rub her chin.

“Hm…normally resizing is a pixie thing. I can do some more shapeshifting than that but I’m also a dungeon master and demigod of Mischief, and you don’t have daddy’s blessing, right? But…if it’s for bee-related stuff you already have your bee magic…hm…”

She glanced over and found Belissar still staring at her expectantly. She let out a sigh.

“Ok, ok. I’ll try to help you with that, Beely. No promises, though!”

Belissar, however, shouted and pumped his fists.

“Yes! Thanks Finnakynne!”

Niobee took off and hovered before Finnakynne as Belissar celebrated.

Finnakynne shrugged with a smile.

“Well, sure, why not?”

Niobee danced happily about.

“Thanks! Bumble helper best bumble helper!”

Finnakynne blinked a few times again before slowly beginning to smile.

“Well…I guess…I’ll do my best?”

Belissar wanted to get started right away…but he had more business to attend to this morning. The first of which was…

“Hey, Niobee, I saw the bees moving into the beecity, do they need any help?”

“Yes! Hive of hives moving so King can get mana back from palaces and hive of hives can have joint hive! Going ask King to move shortcuts!”

“I’d be happy to. Shall we check on them?”

Belissar had already noticed big movements from the bees during his morning rounds and his brief time with Niobee’s senses confirmed his guess. The hive of hives had apparently made some decisions regarding the new room and were now moving hives from the battle meadow and the Apiary to the new Beecity.

The two made their way to Orchard’s shortcut wall, where the First of the Fifth’s First Daughter was coordinating the effort. She danced a salute as soon as she saw them approach.

“King! Need hive of hives?”

Belisar smiled and shook his head.

“No, I’m here to help you. I heard the bees are moving to the new room, I can move the shortcuts however you like. And if I can help in any other way, let me know.”

The First of the Fifth’s First Daughter was rendered danceless for a moment before bursting into a “King is best king dance!” Belissar chuckled and considered how else he might help as he waited for her to calm down. He rubbed his chin…and his eyes widened.

“Wait…I can move room features, right? Maybe I can move the entire Bee Apartments and Bee Barracks to the Beecity? Would that work?”

Belissar had not only moved features before, he had moved entire beehouses with hives still inside between different rooms. There didn’t seem to be a reason why he could do the same here…save that there were already Bee Apartments in the Beecity that were giant trays instead of separate structures. But, Belissar thought it worth checking, as it would save the bees a massive amount of time. Plus, he had paid for DP upgrades to the existing apartments, so it would be nice to keep them if he could.

As an experiment, he switched his attention to his Tower sight and moved to the Apiary. He thought about moving the First of the Fifth’s bee apartment and a transparent image of the apartment appeared for him to move around. He brought it over to the Beecity…and as he moved it over one of the trays the apartment imaged stretched and changed into a giant tray.

Merge identical features?

Belissar refused and let the image fade and left the First of the Fifth’s apartment as is for now.

“Hold on, I have to ask someone about this! But it looks like I can move the Bee Apartments to the Beecity for you all at once, First Daughter! Let the hive of hives know they don’t need to move their hives out of their homes!”

Belissar took off to the nearest Circle master even as the First Daughter began another excited “King is best king!” dance. The nearest Circle master…turned out to be Finnakynne, so Belissar ran back to the bumblebee meadow once more.

Finnakynne was able to confirm for him that features could be merged as a way to combine manually placed features with ones innate to new rooms…and would retain any DP upgrades they had. Any manual customizations, though, would not be combined, only one of the features’ modifications could be maintained. The same went for trying to combine two features occupied by monsters, one group of residents would be ejected if he tried to that, though Belissar had no intention of doing that.

So, with all his questions answered and the confidence merging would do what he wanted, Belissar returned to the First of the Fifth’s First Daughter, who at this point had called the battle meadow and Apiary queens to meet with him. Belissar explained that he could move their current homes and merge them with the Beecity trays to move their hives all at once, as well as to retain the previously purchased DP upgrades. Belissar also tested the Bee Barracks and found that yes, he could switch the Beecity’s trays from Bee Apartments to Bee Barracks and retain the battle meadow hive’s benefits as well.

There was a great “King is best king!” dance, and then the planning began. With this new knowledge, it was just a matter of the queens and Belissar deciding which hive would go where, and where they would place the different shortcuts.

At first, the First Daughter wanted to move the shortcut wall from the Orchard to the Beecity…but Belissar and the battle meadow queens noticed a problem. At present, not only the bee army but the karnuq and other non-bee defenders currently used the Orchard as a rallying point when preparing to defend or leave the Tower. The Beecity did not have as much room to do so, and the defenders might disrupt hives near the shortcuts whenever they filled the area. They ultimately decided to leave the shortcut wall as is and just link the Beecity to it as normal.

But as Belissar watched the First Daughter query all the queens on the issue, Belissar noticed that Beero wasn’t present at the meeting and asked about it, he was then informed that Beero’s hive would remain in the battle meadow as they were the caretakers of the Memorial there. Belissar considered moving the Memorial to the Beecity but that felt…wrong, somehow, so he gave up on moving Beero out of the room. That, however, worried Belissar; the bee army was moving their Barracks away for safety, but that meant that the hive of the fallen and the Memorial would remain vulnerable, alone with their hive on the frontlines…

But then, Belissar had a realization. The Flower Meadow with the Memorial no longer needed to be the battle meadow if the bee army queens weren’t insisting on defending it with their barracks anymore. Belissar thus proposed moving the entire room deeper within the Tower and replacing it with a new Flower Meadow that they’d make purely for battle, that way the hive of the fallen and the Memorial itself would also be protected from harm.

And the more he thought about it, the better the idea seemed. He now realized he had set up the Tower inefficiently in the first place: the Apiary bees, the ones most dedicated to making honey didn’t have a Flower Meadow of their own! The Apiary had some flower fields that Belissar supplemented with resource plant nodes, but these were noticeably smaller compared to the Flower Meadows. So, there was a Flower Meadow for fighting, a Flower Meadow for bumblebees, a Flower Meadow for the karnuq, a Flower Meadow for hunting rabbits, and Flower Meadows for experimental cold and death rooms…but no Flower Meadow primarily for the monster bees to forage flowers from!

After mentally kicking himself for a good minute, Belissar proposed a solution: they would make the Flower Meadow with the Memorial a full foraging room for the hive of hives. They would link this one directly to the Beecity for easy access…and so that Beero would be as close to the rest of the hive of hives as possible.

After that, they were able to settle on an arrangement and Belissar made the changes. The current Memorial Flower Meadow was moved up to the final floor of the Tower, the opening on the ceiling of the central Beecity chamber now opened directly into the Flower Meadow, right next to the hive of the fallen. In fact, Belissar went ahead and made an entrance to the Flower meadow in each of the seven chambers so that all hives in the Beecity could easily forage. He then placed a new Flower Meadow on the second floor in the original battle meadow’s place, moving all the traps to the new battle meadow while leaving all the flower nodes in the Memorial meadow.

Belissar then began to move the beehives themselves. There were ten Bee Apartments in the Apiary, one Bee Apartment in the Orchard, and the battle meadow queens’ Bee Barracks to move. Meanwhile, each of the seven chambers in the Beecity had four big Bee Apartment-equivalent trays.

The First of the Fifth’s First Daughter and Fourth of the Seventh’s joint Bee apartment went into the central chamber, along with the Second of the Sixth’s hive. The First Daughter was coordinating the entire hive of hives while the Second of the Sixth’s healing bees could help check on any hive’s brood, so the hive of hives decided these hives should occupy the central location. The shortcut to the Orchard’s shortcut wall was placed by the First Daughter and Fourth of the Seventh’s hive. The hive of hives considered placing the battle meadow queen’s barracks in the central chamber, but ultimately decided the battle meadow queens might need more room to expand their hives.

The battle meadow queens instead got a whole chamber to themselves, Belissar converted all four of the trays in their chamber into Bee Barracks. He placed a shortcut directly to the new battle meadow so that the bee army could easily travel there for daily training…as well as remain in direct contact with Beero and the hive of the fallen.

That left eight Bee Apartments from the Apiary. The First of the Fifth’s hive got a chamber entirely to herself and the queens among her daughters who lived with her, as the hive of hives wanted to ensure she could scale up her swirled honey production as needed, as well as having space to conduct experiments with honey and evolutions. Belissar also placed a shortcut directly to his farmhouse in the Apiary in the First of the Fifth’s chamber, he was originally going to place it in the central chamber but the First of the Fifth missed having her hive right outside his home so he moved it there. The remaining seven apartments were split into the four empty chambers, two to a chamber save for the First of the Eighth as the largest of the remaining hives.

Belissar wondered about all the other bees, like the digging bees or gravity bees or burning bees, or the other species of bees like the butcher bees or the carpenter bees, but apparently the hive of hives wasn't going to move them for now. The other bees would send scouts to see what life was like in the Beecity and if it was an appropriate environment for their more specialized hives, only then would they consider moving. Belissar wondered if it might be possible to change the Beecity to be more appropriate for them as he could always add new Beecity rooms if so, he had gotten back a bit less than sixty mana after moving all the hives into the Beecity after all.

But that could wait for now. For now, Belissar simply basked in happily dancing bees as he saw workers from many different hives fly and mingle together within the central chamber. The core of the hive of hives had now all come together in one place, the new beecity now filled with happy buzzing…
