Chapter 24: Chapter 24
"IT'S YOUR CHILD GAGE, WHY DON'T YOU STEP UP. I'M NOT HAVING AN ABORTION. I'M NOT KILLING THIS BABY BECAUSE OF YOUR STUPIDITY." I was rudely awoken by Sierra yelling at Gage. I groaned and stretched out my legs before kicking the comforter off of my legs.
"WELL, I DON'T WANT A CHILD. I'M TOO YOUNG-" Gage yelled back.
"IF YOU ARE TOO YOUNG THEN WHY ARE YOU SLEEPING AROUND WITH GIRLS IN THE FIRST PLACE?" Sierra fired back. I grinned at her last comeback, she's so right. If Gage didn't want to take precautions then he shouldn't be sleeping around in the first place. I slipped out of bed, silently. I don't want to wake up Shane. He was snoring loudly on the other side of the bed. I tip-toed out of my room and down the stairs.
"WELL, I'M TERRIBLY SORRY THAT YOU HAD TO BE ONE OF THOSE GIRLS, BUT YOU'RE NOT HAVING THAT CHILD." Gage yelled. They were arguing in the living room.
"You can't tell me what I can and cannot do," Sierra scoffed. The two of them came into view after I walked around the corner. Sierra is sitting on the couch and Gage is pacing. Sierra is almost in tears and Gage looked furious. I stepped in between them.
"I know this is a touchy topic with you two, but it's nine o'clock in the morning!" I exclaimed. I looked at Gage, there were dark circles under his eyes but no sign of a hangover. How is that even possible? He drank so much beer last night he should have his head halfway in a toilet with the contents of his stomach emptying into it.
"Sorry, this bastard woke me up. I thought we might as well sort out this issue." Sierra told me. Gage glared at her before he grabbed his phone and walked outside on the front porch. I plopped down on the couch next to Sierra.
“You’ll sort everything out soon. I know you will.” I assured her. She nodded and took her phone out of her pocket. I went to the kitchen, I'm starving. I got out the pancake batter, milk, eggs, and a bowl. I might as well make breakfast for everyone.
“Damn… my head,” someone muttered. I turned around and was greeted by a hung-over Vincent. He smiled at me and slowly sat down at one of the bar stools. He put his head in his hands and looked as if he was about to throw up.
“Hey Vinny,” I joked. I’ve been calling him that all week and he hates it.
“Call me that again and you’ll be sorry,” he glared at me. I laughed and turned on the coffee maker.
“So, how hung-over are you?” I raised my eyebrows at him. He rolled his eyes and grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge. The pancake mix was just about ready to be cooked. I took a pan from the cabinet and turned on the stove. “How many should I make?” I asked Vincent. He shrugged his shoulders and took his keys off of the counter.
“As many as you want,” he replied. “I’m going out. If anyone asks, meaning Gage or Kyle, just tell them I’m at work.”
“Okay. When you get back will you tell me where you really were?” I questioned. I poured a scoop of pancake mix into the pan. One down, nineteen more to go.
“Possibly. Bye Kaelyn,” he waved and then stumbled out the back door. I wonder if he took anything to help him get rid of his hangover.
After twenty-five minutes of cooking pancakes, I was finally finished. Sierra was sitting on the couch, Vincent was still gone, Gage was still outside pouting, and the other three are asleep. I crept back up to my room. but when I got to my bedroom door I paused. I heard Shane talking to someone in a hushed tone.
“I-I can’t wait to see you again,” he said. I pressed my ear to the door. Who is he talking to? My brain started coming up with worse case scenarios. It’s not Vincent, there is no way it’s his mom- he lives with her, he sees her every day, it’s obviously not anyone I can think of.
“I might be able to see you tonight. I can’t believe you’re back in town.” He said into his phone. Now tears were threatening to spill out of my eyes.
Stop jumping to conclusions Kaelyn.
“Bye. I miss you too,” I heard Shane sigh from the other side of the door. I stiffened and then pushed the door open. I smiled at him, acting like I didn’t hear anything.
“Morning Kaelyn,” Shane hummed as he wrapped his arms around my waist. I rummaged through my dresser until I found an outfit to wear for the day.
“Morning,” I muttered. I grabbed a pair of skinny jeans and a pink and white floral top. Shane started rubbing circles on my hips and he leaned his head on my shoulder.
“What’s wrong, babe?” Shane pressed his lips to my neck. I shook him off.
“N-Nothing. I’m going to go take a shower, breakfast is ready, and it’s on the counter downstairs.” I told Shane. Shane nodded and kissed me on the cheek.
“Can I join you?” Shane smirked. I bit my bottom lip to keep from laughing.
“No,”
“If you say so,” Shane laughed. He gave me a hug before walking out of my bedroom. I grabbed my clothes and went to my bathroom.
Who on earth was he talking to? He acted as if he wasn’t talking to anyone. What’s he hiding?
