The twin-headed serpent flicked its tongues. Though it had been locked in a brief standoff, the pause allowed it to recover much of its strength. The head on the left, blazing with fire energy, opened wide. A torrent of scorching demonic flame erupted from its jaws and surged toward the woman in white robes.

Despair flickered in her eyes. She no longer had the strength to resist.

Just then, she felt a strong arm wrap tightly around her waist. In the next moment, her body was whisked aside. The serpent's deadly flame missed its mark. Somehow, she had been saved from certain death.

Ling Feng had intervened in the nick of time.

After all, she was human too. Ling Feng could not stand by and watch a fellow member of his race get devoured by a fierce beast.

"Despicable Donkey. It's your turn!"

"Wakaka! Watch closely as this divine beast unleashes its glory!"

Ling Feng shouted as the Heavenly Dao Divine Inscription in his left eye condensed. Reality Reversal surged outward from him, forming a domain that immediately enveloped the twin-headed serpent.

A cackling laugh followed. Despicable Donkey shrieked as he charged in. On his own, he might not have been able to deal with an emperor-level demonic serpent. But under the distortion of Reality Reversal, it was a different story.

He was immune to the domain's effects, while the serpent lost all spatial awareness. It could no longer judge distance or direction. Every attempt to strike missed the mark.

What should have been a balanced fight quickly turned one-sided.

"Giant Axe Chopping a Tree!"

"Crow Riding a Dragon!"

Despicable Donkey muttered through a flurry of nonsensical names. He unleashed a seamless combo from his Seventy-Two Divine Donkey Techniques. Each move landed squarely on the twin-headed serpent, forcing it into pitiful howls.

"Who... who are you people?"

The woman Ling Feng had just pulled to safety looked at him in shock. Her wide eyes locked onto his face.

"That's right. I'm human."

Ling Feng carried her behind a nearby hillside to avoid getting caught up in the clash between Despicable Donkey and the serpent. Once they were out of harm's way, he swiftly tapped a few acupoints on her left shoulder.

"You... a mere Spiritual Element Realm cultivator..."

She panted heavily, her voice faint and hoarse.

"How did you sneak into the demon race's sacred land?"

"I have my ways," Ling Feng replied calmly. "Miss, I suggest you don't speak. Your injuries are severe. Most of your internal organs have ruptured. Even as a king-tier expert, if you don't receive treatment soon, you won't survive much longer."

She gave him a long look, then broke into laughter.

"You called me 'miss'? That's a first."

But she had barely chuckled twice when pain stabbed through her body. Cold sweat poured from her skin, and she dared not laugh again.

"What else should I call you?"

Ling Feng shrugged. Though she looked near death, her beauty still carried a soft, fragile allure. One glance from her could tug at anyone's heartstrings.

To him, however, she was just a patient in urgent need of treatment.

The woman shook her head, inhaled deeply, and spoke slowly.

"You can call me Yue Huaqing."

Ling Feng scratched the bridge of his nose and nodded.

"Miss Yue[1], now's not the time for chit-chat. I'll use acupuncture to stop the bleeding first and keep your vitality from slipping away. Once my friend finishes off that serpent, I'll find a secluded spot to heal you properly."

Yue Huaqing glanced at him with her bright eyes.

"Why did you save me? Aren't you afraid I'm the villain, someone who'll repay kindness with betrayal?"

"In the demon domain, it's rare to meet another human. Saving you shouldn't be that surprising. As for betrayal, even if you're strong, once my demonic pet and I work together, you won't stand a chance."

Ling Feng casually pulled out a set of golden needles and sealed several of her key meridian points. Then he turned his gaze toward the battlefield where Despicable Donkey continued clashing with the serpent.

Though the serpent was undeniably powerful, under the influence of Reality Reversal, it stood no chance. The fight had become a merciless beating.

Yue Huaqing looked at Ling Feng thoughtfully. It seemed the young man was telling the truth. Even though she could match a demon emperor in combat, if Ling Feng and the black donkey fought together, she would lose without question.

The truth was, she had already suffered injuries during her escape from the ambush by several experts of Canglong Sanctum. That was why the serpent had overwhelmed her so easily.

"Despicable Donkey, stop playing around. I can't maintain this field much longer!"

Ling Feng shouted when he noticed Despicable Donkey still toying with the serpent. If this kept up, the tide could turn against them.

"Heh, I guess the fun ends here."

In a flash of black light, Despicable Donkey's body expanded dramatically, transforming into a massive black donkey.

With a sharp motion, he lunged forward and grabbed both of the serpent's heads. Muscles bulged as he yanked hard.

The serpent was ripped in two.

Two wet cracking sounds followed. Both heads burst open. Just like that, a beast that had ruled over the Misty Mountain Range met its end at the hooves of a black donkey.

Despicable Donkey clapped his hooves together and returned to Ling Feng, dragging the serpent's remains behind him.

"Hey Ling Feng, why don't we split the serpent between me and little Qiongqi? You take the girl. Sounds fair?"

Ling Feng rolled his eyes and glared with genuine irritation.

"Put the serpent's body away and help me find a quiet place. I need to treat her injuries."

Despicable Donkey shrugged, stashed the carcass, and led Ling Feng deeper into the mountains. Before long, they stumbled upon an old lair belonging to another fierce beast. After dispatching it in seconds, they took over the cave.

It smelled awful, but it was quiet and safe.

Of course, the Five Elements Heavenly Palace would have been a much better place for healing. But Ling Feng could not fully trust Yue Huaqing. There was no way he would reveal the palace to her.

What puzzled him most was why a woman from the human Sacred Land had risked so much to enter the demon race's domain in the first place.

Unfortunately, before he could ask, Yue Huaqing passed out from the pain. This wasn't the time for questioning anyway.

Ling Feng quickly cleaned up the cave, then laid her flat on a smooth stone slab. Even in unconsciousness, Yue Huaqing was writhing in pain, soft groans escaping her lips from time to time.

"Despicable Donkey, keep watch outside."

Ling Feng lit the cave with a wisp of Devouring Flame and ordered the donkey to stand guard so nothing would interrupt the treatment.

Despicable Donkey's eyes narrowed with mischief.

"Hey Ling Feng, don't say your brother's not looking out for you. This divine beast got top-grade tiger tonic pills right here. Want one?"

Ling Feng glared at him, dark lines rising across his forehead.

"Keep talking, and I'll chop off your junk and turn it into a tonic pill!"

"You meet a pretty girl, and suddenly your buddy means nothing!"

Despicable Donkey shuddered and muttered under his breath as he walked out of the cave.
