Chapter 356: Chapter 356

Ever since Angela found out she could come to Aethelgard to become a star, she wanted to recover quickly.

She was deeply afraid something might go wrong with this opportunity.

Fortunately for her, neither Anna nor Conrad Sterling were remembering her as they were too busy.

Angela slipped through the cracks and took this opportunity to smoothly enter Starlight Entertainment.

Aethelgard truly lived up to its name, and Angela couldn’t help but marvel as she made her way in, no wonder everyone wants to be here, no wonder Anna barely returns to Veridia.

Indeed, it’s much more prosperous here than in Veridia. She too wants to stay and make a name for herself, at least not doing worse than Anna.

Angela set a goal for herself, and as she stepped into the company, she immediately held her head high, masking her naive demeanor.

"Where do newcomers report here?" Angela asked the receptionist.

"Are you an artist at our company?"

"Yes, I’m personally signed by your President Sterling."

The receptionist, hearing Angela’s bold claim, couldn’t help but take another look at her.

She seemed pretty ordinary, where did she get the guts to claim she was signed by President Sterling?

Even lies need a draft; everyone in the company knows President Sterling doesn’t handle the entertainment sector.

"You don’t believe me, do you? Alright, I’ll give his assistant a call. You’d better open your eyes wide and think carefully about how you’re going to apologize to me later."

Angela said as she took out her phone and the business card Ethan had given her. She was ready to call Ethan.

Meanwhile, the receptionist was about to call security to kick her out.

Just at that moment, Henry Willow walked into the company.

"President Willow!" The receptionist girl called to him, "There’s someone here claiming to be a newly signed artist and says President Sterling personally signed her."

Unlike Conrad Sterling, Henry Willow, a playboy, always gave people a friendly impression. Plus, Henry was charming without being sleazy and often joked with company staff, making young girls unreserved around him, always seeking chances to chat.

Well, wasn’t this an opportunity?

As Henry walked over, the receptionist girl purposefully tucked a lock of hair behind her ear and put on what she thought was a beautiful, gentle smile.

"Yvonne, those earrings are really pretty today!" Google seaʀᴄh novel·fire.net

Henry always knew what compliments women wanted to hear; Yvonne smiled even more bashfully, "Thank you, President Willow!"

Immediately, Henry turned his attention to Angela, "And you are?"

Angela heard the receptionist call him President Willow and, seeing the handsome man before her, became nervous and quickly introduced herself, "My name is Angela Thornton, and I am... personally signed into the company by President Sterling. I was recovering from an injury in a hospital for a while, so I’m only reporting now."

"Angela Thornton? That name rings a bell!"

Just one character off from Anna’s name, how could it not ring a bell?

Seeing that Henry actually recognized Angela, the receptionist girl’s bashful look gradually faded.

She had just assumed Angela was there to cause trouble because her appearance and demeanor weren’t anything impressive, not even as refined as hers.

How could someone like that be signed to Starlight Entertainment as an artist while she remained a receptionist? How could it be convincing?

Angela then puffed up and threw her luggage at the receptionist, speaking in a domineering tone: "Hold this for me. I’ll take it when I come back, so make sure nothing’s missing!"

With that, Angela eagerly followed Henry.

The other day, Ethan had explained to Henry, "This Miss Angela Thornton is Miss Anna’s cousin. They’ve even changed their last name to match, only one letter off, so they must be very close. And when Miss Anna encountered an assassin in Veridia, it was thanks to Miss Angela taking a bullet for her. President Sterling signed her into the company as a favor to Miss Anna, to make it easier for them to look out for each other."

Ethan swore, from the perspective of wanting to do good for President Sterling, that’s why he passed off his private arrangements as President Sterling’s decision.

But little did he expect that this mindless action would burden President Sterling with an annoying obligation.

Had he known... he wouldn’t have dared!

Rumors of Angela and Anna being very close like sisters almost misled Henry.

Yet, after mentioning Angela to Anna previously without any reaction from her, Henry felt something was a bit off.

Henry merely arranged some formalities for Angela, never intending to give her special treatment.

Instead, Angela had been looking for chances to cozy up to Henry Willow, almost clinging to his arm and acting coyly: "President Willow, do you know my cousin?"

"Anna and I are considered friends. Hasn’t she mentioned me to you?"

"Uh... she did mention you. She said at the company, she was really grateful for your help, and she also said when I join the company, you’d treat me the same way you treat her."

Henry Willow caught the fleeting guilt in Angela’s eyes and smiled, subtly dodging her attempt to loop her arm through his.

However, even though Henry Willow didn’t pay special attention to Angela, he couldn’t escape the speculation of others in the company.

Especially since Angela walked out of Henry’s office with her nose in the air, treating the receptionist like a servant, making her bring tea, water, and give her shoulder massages, bullying her until she cried.

Someone heard that she was almost stopped at the reception earlier, but then Henry Willow backed her up, leading to guesses: "Could she be President Willow’s girlfriend?"

"Probably not. Even though President Willow is quite the charmer, he has good taste and wouldn’t just settle for anything."

"Who knows? Maybe he’s in a phase where he wants something different and new?"

"But I heard her say herself that she was personally signed by President Sterling. Remember a while ago, President Sterling’s personal assistant came to the company, and there were rumors about a new hire. Could it be her?"

The actresses and staff gossiping together all recalled this and couldn’t help but look disappointed.

"So the supposedly parachuted-in talent isn’t that impressive after all!"

"If President Sterling really wanted to open doors for someone, why wouldn’t he support Anna Thornton instead? They were rumored to be linked before. I thought Anna’s bold move to join Dynasty was definitely because of a connection with President Sterling. But it seemed nothing further developed between them."

"To be honest, Anna’s looks are the best in the entire company, you can’t find another like her even in showbiz. But maybe President Sterling doesn’t like women who are too beautiful, like Marilyn Ford, he focuses on their aura."

"And this one doesn’t even have an aura, she just looks awkward and out of place!"

"Maybe she comes from a powerful background, the hidden daughter of some big shot. That’s the only reason that makes some sense to me!"

On Angela’s third day in Aethelgard, she surprisingly bumped into Conrad Sterling.

It wasn’t exactly unexpected, though. After arriving in Aethelgard, her first priority was to report to the company, and her second was to contact Ethan to find out the whereabouts of the Sterling Group headquarters.

Then she’d loiter around the Sterling Group area, hoping for a chance encounter with Conrad Sterling.

On this day, she actually saw him!

"Angela, what are you looking at?"

Angela was with a new "friend" she’d made at the company, sitting in the mall opposite Sterling Group, when she spotted Conrad Sterling’s luxurious business vehicle from afar: "That’s President Sterling’s car, I’m sure of it!"

Actually, Angela didn’t recognize Conrad Sterling’s car; she recognized Ethan getting out of it: "I’m going to have a word with him."

"Are you crazy? President Sterling is not someone we can casually talk to."

Angela was out shopping with May Yuille today, who had once played a supporting role in a film of Marilyn Ford’s, though the film flopped. However, she had helped President Sterling with a small favor, and with the need to divert attention from Anna Thornton, May was signed into Starlight Entertainment at Conrad’s behest.

May Yuille wasn’t famous in the industry, but she was experienced and had seen a lot.

However, even someone like Conrad Sterling, she had to admit, was beyond her reach.

She had had thoughts about him, but President Sterling had an aura that kept people at a distance. It was said that his only visit to an entertainment company made the staff and artists so scared they only dared to stay far away.

But Angela seemed so confident, she got up and went straight towards Conrad Sterling.

She was clever enough to greet Ethan first.

Because of the favor she did for Anna, Ethan smiled warmly at Angela.

Angela then turned her gaze to Conrad Sterling: "President Sterling, my cousin Anna left something behind in Veridia. My dad specifically asked me to bring it to her; could you help me pass it along?"

Only when it came to matters concerning Anna did Conrad Sterling show interest: "What is it?"

"It’s a set of keys! The Thornton Residence was burned down, and it’s being renovated. My dad keeps an eye on it for Anna whenever he has time, and the main door was replaced. She probably left in such a hurry last time that she forgot to take the keys."

The Thornton Residence was indeed very important to Anna, so Conrad Sterling reached out to accept the keys Angela handed over.

However, this scene was a big deal in May Yuille’s eyes.

The next day, gossip spread in Starlight Entertainment that Angela was indeed very familiar with President Sterling.

Not only was President Sterling’s assistant very courteous to her, but she was even at the point of exchanging keys with President Sterling.
