Chapter 333: Chapter 333
Angela finally got a chance to come to Aethelgard to become a star, and she was eager to fly over there with wings.
But her injuries hadn’t healed yet, and transferring to another hospital would take some time.
Fearing any changes, she begged Ethan to help her with signing a contract with Starlight Entertainment.
Considering she was Anna’s cousin and had once shielded Anna from a bullet, Ethan took this opportunity, while following President Sterling back to Aethelgard, to work on Angela’s contract.
It was right then that he bumped into Anna at the company.
Ethan’s eyes lit up seeing Anna but reminded himself that he played the role of President Sterling’s lackey last night, forcing Anna onto a helicopter against her will, so he didn’t dare speak to her.
He merely glanced at Anna silently and walked away with his head down.
Anna wasn’t actually angry with him; she just couldn’t help but ask when she saw him avoiding her, "Ethan personally handling Angela’s matters, when did they get so close?"
"Not sure, maybe it’s on President Sterling’s orders."
Anna then recalled Angela’s face at the bar pushing her to take a bullet for her: "I’ve never really liked those relatives from Veridia, and was planning to cut ties. But Conrad actually brought Angela into my company, is he doing this on purpose to annoy me?"
"Anna, maybe you should tell Young Master Willow that we don’t want to be in the same company as Angela. She already nagged us enough back in the drama group."
Mary, being a manager herself, didn’t see any potential in Angela becoming a star from her professional standpoint.
Also, she foresaw that once Angela came, she and Anna might run into a lot of trouble.
"Let’s wait and see what she’s up to first. The company is mine after all, I can kick her out whenever I find her annoying."
Anna didn’t want to dwell on Angela; she was more concerned about Faye Duval: "Has that girl woken up yet?"
Mary knew she was referring to Faye Duval and shook her head: "Not yet!"
"She’s all alone in Veridia with no one to care for her." It was a pity Anna was stuck in Aethelgard and couldn’t just go back to check on her.
"How about this, Anna, I’ll go back to Veridia in a few days, and find a way to transfer Faye Duval to a hospital in Aethelgard, so it will be easier for us to look after her."
Transferring her to a hospital in Aethelgard would be ideal.
Shooting in Veridia for over two months, along with previous delays due to other matters, meant Anna hadn’t been back to the company for over three months.
Coming back this time, she found a whole new atmosphere.
Back when Starlight Entertainment was still called Dynasty Entertainment, it was strictly old-school male-dominated with only Marilyn as a female artist.
However, within these three months, Henry Willow had expanded the company, signing many talented female artists.
He was just right for this job!
As Anna walked around, she eyed the newcomers at her company, who were also sizing her up in return.
Once Anna passed by, one woman with big, wavy hair asked someone beside her, "Was that Anna just now? Has she changed her style?"
"I think so. I almost didn’t recognize her. I heard Anna’s new show is a campus idol drama with a girl disguising as a guy, and she cut her hair for the role."
"What a shame. I thought she had a similar style to mine, and I could have a chance to compete with her." The wavy-haired beauty confidently flicked her long hair.
"Anna isn’t something to worry about. Did you hear? This morning, President Sterling’s personal assistant came to our company to handle an artist contract." Another female artist said.
"Not sure yet, rumor has it she’s a newcomer, but not an ordinary one. She didn’t even show up herself and could still order President Sterling’s assistant to run errands for her, showing she’s not just anybody. When I tried asking President Willow, even though he normally chats and jokes with us, he didn’t reveal a single detail about this woman."
Hearing her speak so mysteriously, several gathered female artists couldn’t help but look worried.
In the entertainment industry, everyone is here for one goal.
But resources are limited; too many monks and too little gruel is the reality.
They had worked hard to join an entertainment company backed by the Sterling Group, and with the precedent of Anna’s success from a low-budget film, they were all craning their necks waiting for their breakthrough.
Now a newcomer suddenly "descends from the sky," and they fear she might become the next Marilyn.
Controlling all the resources over them, how could anyone else have a chance to rise?
While they were talking, Anna had already entered Henry Willow’s office.
"Anna, long time no see." Henry Willow knew she had returned yesterday and was waiting to meet her.
Upon hearing the knock, he immediately put down what he was doing and looked up at her: "You’re getting prettier by the day. Walking around outside, how many of our company’s female artists must be having anxiety attacks!"
"The artists you signed all have unique features. The entertainment circle isn’t a beauty pageant, what’s there to be anxious about?"
Having played extras abroad for years, Anna knew too well that in this circle, the most beautiful isn’t always the most popular, the most talented isn’t always the most sought after, and the hardest working isn’t always the most beloved by the audience.
Still, she was determined to challenge and break this rule.
Henry handed her a stack of materials: "Here’s the list of new artists in our company; have a look. If anyone is unsuitable, just kick them out, no need to spare my feelings."
Flipping through the materials, Anna found Angela’s was the first one.
It was clear Henry arranged the order deliberately.
"I heard from Ethan that this Angela is your cousin? Did you have her join the company for development?" Henry asked.
"Me? The company hasn’t been officially transferred to me on paper; do I get a say?" Anna retorted.
"Sounds like you have quite a grudge against Young Master Sterling!" Henry laughed.
Anna looked at him and suddenly thought of Henry’s stepmother Lauren Chambers, whose relationship with Holly Sutton was unusual.
Could it be that Lauren was also a member of the Psyche Organization?
If so, given that Henry and Conrad were good buddies, he would have no reason not to know.
Despite Henry’s seemingly carefree demeanor, Anna felt he had deep thoughts hidden within him. Tʜe sourcᴇ of thɪs content ɪs novel[f]ire.net
"Why are you suddenly looking at me like that?" Henry felt Anna’s intense gaze and touched his face, "Is there something on my face?"
Anna shook her head: "No! But there is a thick mask that no one can see through, right?"
Upon hearing this, Henry still smiled: "Anna, you must believe that no matter what Young Master Sterling and I are hiding, we won’t hurt you."
"Are you sure about that?"
"Uh, regarding what happened between you and Young Master Sterling four years ago, I wasn’t there so it wouldn’t be appropriate to comment. What I mean is from now on and in the future, I can guarantee for Young Master Sterling that he absolutely won’t hurt you again."
Anna: "To hell with your guarantee!"
