Chapter 219: Chapter 219

Early the next morning—

Dylan White woke up and turned over, seeing the small woman lying with her back to him on the bed. He smirked and hugged her. "Anna, don’t worry, after last night, I will take responsibility for you."

"But you are a little star, and I am currently in the rising stage of my career. It’s definitely not possible to make our relationship public for the time being. But privately, I will definitely treat you well. Just let Dylan know if you want anything."

Dylan White had decided that he could only support Anna Thornton in private.

He wasn’t even considering the child whose origins were unknown; just the fact that four years ago he betrayed the Thornton Family—who could guarantee that Anna Thornton wouldn’t find out one day?

So Dylan White had already planned before approaching Anna Thornton that he could not marry her.

But he could keep her as a beautiful canary, after all, with his career going smoothly in recent years, he’s got some spare cash on hand.

After all, being a competent lawyer, Dylan White was certainly calculated and shrewd.

However, no matter how clever he was, he didn’t expect that when the woman sleeping beside him turned her head, it was a completely unfamiliar face.

The woman was obviously woken up by Dylan White’s voice just now. She turned over in his arms.

As their eyes met, a thunderous scream of surprise erupted from both, filling the room.

"You... who are you? How are you in my bed?" Dylan White asked.

"I should be asking who you are! Why did you forcibly drag me into your room last night? I’m going to accuse you of assault!"

Seeing the unfamiliar woman start crying while speaking, Dylan White was completely confused: "Impossible! The woman I brought back to the room last night was clearly not you!"

"Sir, I also told you last night that you had the wrong person, but you didn’t listen at all! You dragged me back to the room, hugging and gnawing on me. When I resisted, you pinned me down and wouldn’t let me up!"

Dylan White distinctly remembered that it was Anna Thornton he took to bed last night.

If the woman he took to bed last night was someone else, then where was Anna?

Just as this thought occurred to him, the room’s doorbell rang.

Dylan White looked through the peephole and found Anna Thornton standing at his door.

"Dylan, are you there?"

At this moment, Dylan White didn’t dare open the door. Looking back at the unfamiliar woman lying naked on his bed, crying and complaining, his head was spinning.

Anna Thornton pressed the doorbell for a full five minutes; there was no movement inside.

Just then, hotel staff arrived to provide room service.

"The guest in this room must have gone out. No one is inside; I’m his friend!"

Hearing her say this, the room service personnel took out a card from their pocket and opened the door.

When Anna Thornton followed the staff into the room, Dylan White was hurriedly covering his naked body with a bathrobe. There were used condoms scattered on the carpet, a woman crying on the bed, and the whole room reeked of an obviously revealing scent.

Everyone present, including the hotel staff, was caught in an awkward silence.

"Anna, let me explain. It’s not what you think." Dylan White said, his face turning blue as he looked around the room, realizing that he couldn’t clarify even if he wanted to.

Anna Thornton matched the scene with a shocked, slightly disappointed, and pained expression. But after taking a couple of deep breaths, she calmed down, showing a firm look that she wouldn’t be easily misled by appearances. "Dylan, what happened? I don’t believe you’re the type of person who would do something ."

Dylan White wished Anna were like the dim-witted leading lady from TV dramas, running away with her head buried at this moment, so he might have some time to get rid of the other troublesome woman.

"I was drunk last night!" Dylan White thought and thought, and this was the only excuse he could use to temporarily dodge the issue. "I mistook her for you."

"Mistook her for me? But this lady doesn’t even look like me!" Follow current novᴇls on novel•fire.net

Anna Thornton glanced at the mix of clothes on the floor: "Except that she’s also wearing a red dress!"

"Yes, that’s it, the red dress! I was drunk at the time and saw a woman in a red dress sitting where you had been, so I mistook her for you. Where did you go last night?"

"Some red wine spilled on my dress last night, so I went to the washroom to clean it. But when I came out, you were gone, Dylan. I even called you, but you didn’t answer. I thought you’d come back to the room to sleep, so I planned to look for you this morning. Who knew I’d see such a scene."

Dylan White looked through his phone, and sure enough, there were missed calls from Anna Thornton.

At this moment, he was practically drowning in regret, unable to fathom how he got bewitched last night, ending up with a woman he didn’t know.

And this woman seemed to be trouble, too, crying continuously on the bed after waking.

She got out of bed, retrieved her clothes, and ran out of the room crying even more.

"Anna, I was momentarily out of my mind. I was really drunk last night. Can you forgive me?" Dylan White looked at Anna Thornton.

"What I think is not the most important thing right now; it’s more important to get that lady from last night to forgive you first. I just saw her running out the door, seemingly already dialing the police."

"But it’s alright, Dylan, I believe you! If she really calls the police, I can testify that you drank a lot last night and didn’t answer my call, proving you were indeed out of it."

Dylan White wasn’t just out of it; at this moment, it felt like his entire mind was offline.

He hadn’t drunk much last night, yet somehow he woke up with a headache, unable to think of a solution, only able to insist: "She can’t call the police! Absolutely not! I didn’t force her!"

"But things are already . I suggest you proactively go to the police station for investigation."

"Because this is Veridia, and you have many old friends and relatives here. If this gets blown up and you end up being taken to the police station, that wouldn’t be good! Try to mediate actively, you might be able to settle this privately."

What Anna Thornton said made sense; Dylan White did not want to run into legal trouble just after returning to Veridia.

These years, he had grown from a small legal advisor to opening a law firm in Aethelgard, which allowed him to hold his head high.

He initially planned a glorious trip back home, but instead, one wrong move, and he was caught in a trap...

On the way driving to the police station, Anna Thornton glanced at the man beside her through the rear-view mirror.

Dylan White seemed utterly frustrated, totally lacking the energy he had when first meeting Anna Thornton; he hadn’t even put on any hair gel today.

One night later, he seemed to have aged two years.

Do all men get after an all-nighter?

Then why did Conrad Sterling remain unfazed, even more vigorous the next day?

She couldn’t understand why the difference was so stark between men.

Ultimately, Anna Thornton could only hastily conclude that Conrad Sterling was a freak!

But since Dylan White had already fallen into the trap, Anna Thornton secretly sent Douglas a message.

It was time to make arrangements with Holly Sutton!
