Chapter 213: Chapter 213

Henry thought that being the nominal general manager, forced to clean up Young Master Sterling’s mess and facing Marilyn’s interrogations, was already tricky enough.

However, an even trickier situation arose when Anna happened to bring her agent to see him at the same time.

Opening the door to the general manager’s office, Anna first shook the thermos in her hand: "President Willow, I brought a gift to congratulate you!"

It wasn’t until she lowered her hand that she noticed someone had arrived at Henry’s office earlier than her.

"Oh, you have company? I’ll come back later!"

Just as Anna was about to leave, Henry called out to her: "Wait a moment!"

"Anna, how many times do I have to tell you? Yes, I am now the general manager of this company, and a good friend of Young Master Sterling. But when it comes to his personal and romantic life, I have no say. You don’t have to waste your efforts here with me."

Henry’s words were not only directed at Anna but also at Marilyn.

Nonetheless, the two women interpreted it differently.

Just as Marilyn interrogated about the woman who had left Conrad Sterling’s residence, Anna walked in.

She looked at Anna with suspicion, but Henry’s words dispelled her doubts.

Anna instinctively understood Henry was helping her out, so she shrugged along with his intention: "President Willow, don’t worry. When President Sterling personally announced an engagement, I gave up pursuing him. If I was putting in an effort, it was simply because you’re the general manager."

Initially, Marilyn suspected Anna was the woman who left Sterling Residence that morning, but upon reconsideration, it seemed unlikely.

Recently, during movie promotions, Anna was thoroughly overshadowed by Marilyn. If she had secured Conrad Sterling, wouldn’t she happily publicize it?

After all, she even dared to expose her unglamorous incident of having a child out of wedlock, missing such a good opportunity, she wouldn’t hype it herself?

Marilyn couldn’t stand hearing the term "engagement," and her face darkened upon hearing it.

Since just now Henry seemed to be dismissing both her and Anna with his words, Marilyn decisively stood up and left with her agent.

Marilyn and Anna had not had a direct confrontation, but due to the movie genre clash, their agents were preparing to start a fight.

As they brushed past each other, Sharon first glared at Mary.

Mary was no less feisty, putting her hands on her hips and glaring back.

Once they left, Henry, maintaining his upright posture, finally felt relaxed, wondering how Young Master Sterling managed to keep up every day.

Henry couldn’t endure being so serious for even a second, so he crossed his legs and beckoned to Anna: "Quick! What delicious treats did you bring me? Anna, how did you know I rushed to work here on my first day without having breakfast? I think waking up early to work is the most anti-human thing."

"Great minds think alike!"

Anna opened the thermos she was holding, revealing a warm chicken soup porridge for the stomach, a stack of sauced beef, and a taro dessert, all looking exquisite.

"Anna, you know me too well! Knowing I’ve been in the hospital for so long with bland food and no appetite, bringing me all these delicious treats." Henry tried a piece of sauced beef, couldn’t help but praise, "It tastes fantastic! Did you make it yourself? Good skills, Young Master Sterling is fortunate."

Anna couldn’t help but laugh: "You don’t know me well enough! If I did it myself, you’d respect these three dishes for the rest of your life!"

Henry couldn’t resist having another piece of sauced beef: "Who made this then? Young Master Sterling’s cook!"

"I just met Sixth Miss Grant at the company entrance, and she asked me to bring this thermos in for you. But she doesn’t look like someone who’d cook; it must be her family’s cook."

Originally, Henry wanted to try the chicken soup porridge, but upon hearing Anna said it was from Sarah Grant, he put his spoon down.

"Why are you so nervous? She didn’t say that eating her food means being hers!" Anna chuckled.

Henry remained skeptical: "She didn’t say?"

"She only mentioned watching your live stream as the entertainment company’s general manager today, knowing your injuries haven’t healed, and sent this over to apologize on behalf of her brother."

"What else could there be? Miss Grant handed me the thermos box and left, asking nothing."

After confirming multiple times with Anna that Sarah Grant didn’t mention getting back together, Henry finally picked up the spoon and had a sip of the porridge.

After putting in so much effort and enduring nearly half-crippled consequences to finally ditch Sarah Grant, Henry didn’t want to waste it all.

However, Anna was curious: "Is Sarah Grant really that bad? Do you really need to be that afraid of getting together with her?"

"Finn Grant is not bad either! Why aren’t you getting together with him?" Henry countered Anna.

After exchanging a knowing glance, they wisely decided not to mention it further.

Everyone harbors deep-seated secrets unknown to others, and their choices have their own reasons, requiring no understanding or approval from others.

In truth, Henry and Anna are of the same kind.

That’s why despite being acquainted for a short time, they always feel they should have met sooner.

"Oh, this is for you!"

Henry, biting the spoon, handed Anna a stack of documents.

"These are the documents for artists preparing to sign with our company, have a look when you have time. Young Master Sterling said I’m only the nominal general manager, so I’ll inform you first about any company changes. Are you okay with suddenly signing female artists into the company?"

"Why would I have any issues?"

"Marilyn noticed too; she’s rather concerned about other female artists taking her resources."

"Because Marilyn is just one of the company’s artists, and I am the company’s behind-the-scenes boss. These artists are also my resources. I only care about allocating resources to help the company earn more profits!"

"Impressive, Anna! With such a grand vision, being an artist is a waste of talent. You should be a boss."

"Am I not already doing that now?"

Anna first checked out the top document, which belonged to May Yuille.

From Marilyn’s manner, she hadn’t given up on Conrad Sterling and was still eager to find out which woman left Sterling Residence that day.

Conrad Sterling suddenly brought people over, likely to disrupt rumors.

Actually, this protects Anna, so why would she mind?

After finishing the chat with Henry and leaving the office, Mary, holding that stack of documents for Anna, felt a bit incredulous.

"Anna, was President Willow serious? Is this company really yours now?"

"Shh, don’t get too happy too soon, it cost me greatly!" Anna sighed.

Hearing this, Mary instantly perked up her ears for gossip: "What cost?"

"Ah!" Anna felt troubled thinking about having to spare two days a week to deal with Conrad Sterling.

"He hasn’t officially transferred the company under my name; it’s still just a verbal promise. Don’t trust that man will keep his word, and company earnings haven’t been realized in our pockets yet."

Anna, always decisive and confident, since she’s unsure now, Mary decided to refrain from questioning further.

However, Mary still worried about another matter: "By the way, in the café yesterday, who did you ask me to cover for?"

"What?! Anna, you aren’t really having an affair, are you?" Mary, recalling Conrad Sterling’s demeanor yesterday, couldn’t help but sweat at her temple, "President Sterling isn’t someone you mess with!"

Anna deliberately teased her: "What do you think counts as an affair? I was just having coffee with someone, and exchanged some banter."

"Was it chatting or flirting? Be clear; I have a small heart."

Just then, Anna’s phone rang.

She saw it was a call from Dylan White but didn’t answer, simply switched to silence mode and put the phone back in her bag.

"Don’t worry, I’ve got it under control!"
