Chapter 195: Chapter 195
Anna Thornton didn’t go to the KTV with Quinn Locke and the others to sing; she rested in the hotel room for a while.
Upon waking, she took a shower, finally getting rid of most of the alcohol odor on her body.
Checking the time, it was already midnight. The wrap-up party had dispersed, so after her shower, she ought to return to accompany Pop to sleep.
However, at that moment, Anna suddenly heard something unusual in the bathroom.
Footsteps? She hadn’t called for any hotel service!
Anna was immediately alert; wouldn’t it be like last time when... some anti-fan sneaked into her room?
But last time that was in a third rate motel; this time it wasn’t at the Starlight Hotel? How could security be this bad?
Looks like Conrad Sterling is just an empty reputation, boasting of being the best hotel in all of Aethelgard, and yet the security is this crap.
While grumbling inwardly, Anna wrapped a towel around herself.
She wanted to find a handy tool, but it would affect her performance of the newly learned self-defense skills, so she decided to grab nothing.
Silently, she opened the bathroom door and peeked out first, noticing nothing unusual.
But just as she stepped out of the bathroom, she was suddenly pulled from behind.
Anna immediately executed her self-defense skills, unfortunately, all were cleverly neutralized by the other party, and after several moves, she was completely pinned against the wall by tremendous force.
Next, a man’s figure pressed against her even more forcibly between the wall and him, making her unable to move.
Anna glanced up: "Conrad Sterling?"
That explained why she couldn’t fight back; she felt like her self-defense skills were useless—they faced him.
Seeing Conrad, Anna subconsciously felt relieved: "Sneaking into my room in the middle of the night, what’s wrong with you?"
But then, Anna noticed that something wasn’t quite right with Conrad.
This man holding her hand felt incredibly hot, like he was feverish!
"Let go of me! It’s midsummer; do you want to suffocate someone by sticking this close?"
Anna pushed Conrad Sterling, but he didn’t budge.
Instead, he squeezed tighter like a spring.
"Anna Thornton, do you really want to marry me?"
"What do you mean?" Anna guardedly pushed her elbow against Conrad, feeling the man was acting strange tonight.
He looked at her as if he wanted to swallow her whole!
Coming to her so late, he didn’t plan to beat around the bush, directly saying: "Marilyn Ford drugged my wine!"
"What do you think?" Conrad gave a guiding look downward, believing Anna could comprehend.
"Tonight, if you help me solve the problem, I’ll marry you."
"Wait, that’s a lot to process..." Anna followed his gaze downwards, understanding, but, "it’s kind of ’big’!"
Anna then widened her eyes in surprise, "You’re saying Marilyn Ford drugged you with aphrodisiac? Why would she do that?"
"Does it concern you?"
Anna asked about something that did concern her: "Why come to me?"
"Isn’t it you who always wanted to marry me? Here’s a chance!"
Ugh! Listen to what he’s saying!
He’s practically a ’walking tent’, yet pretending to be a big bad wolf.
Anna scoffed: "Sorry, my proposal to marry you was long ago. I’m no longer interested; if President Sterling wants to solve physiological needs, please turn left and stay away from me."
Anna couldn’t push him away, so she hurriedly slipped under Conrad’s outstretched arm: "I’m so pretty, or else you’d be itching the heart from scratching boots."
"Anna Thornton! Are you sure you want to push away this opportunity?" Conrad Sterling grabbed her with burning hot hands, asking one last time, "Tonight, whoever I find will become Mrs. Sterling tomorrow!"
Tsk, as if many people care about him, waiting to be blessed by him.
Anna disdained: "Whoever sleeps with you tonight is foolish! Four years ago I learned my lesson; you said you’d help the Thornton Family get justice, yet didn’t recognize anyone once you had pulled up your pants?"
"I didn’t promise you anything four years ago! But today, I seriously tell you, I’ll be responsible!"
"On what basis should I trust you’ll be responsible?" Anna asked him.
Conrad pulled out from his jacket pocket... a hefty diamond ring, placing it on her left ring finger.
"Custom-made for a billion three months ago, for a proposal!"
A billion?!! Spending such a fortune, it couldn’t just be to trick someone into bed?
Previously, Anna pursued Conrad persistently; that man wouldn’t relent.
If it were just for a sleep... one could directly become Mrs. Sterling.
Such a trade is quite appealing!
But still uncertain, what about four years ago?
Anna once suffered a loss, pondering repeatedly, unable to determine how many traps this deal might hold.
Conrad Sterling couldn’t wait for her clarity.
Tonight’s ’wine,’ would take effect in twenty minutes.
From the Future Travel crew’s club to Anna’s hotel, it took over forty minutes, plus ten minutes of talking just now... even if Conrad’s self-control and endurance were extraordinary, he was still a normal man.
"If you truly want to marry, let’s register first, then have intimacy! Show me your resolve to be with me."
Seeing her reluctance, Conrad’s patience was wearing thin: "I’ve given you the proposal ring, still questioning? I risked a car accident to find you, isn’t that enough resolve? Besides, it’s already midnight, and the civil bureau isn’t open."
"How about you find another woman to address your current physiological needs; I saw the female supporting actress of the adjacent crew, who seems quite willing. After you’ve resolved it, let’s register tomorrow—then in future similar situations, I can rightfully assist you."
What kind of lousy advice this woman offered, suggesting him to find other women.
Conrad felt the original flame gathered in his lower abdomen now rising straight through his head.
No longer wanting to waste words and delay, he directly picked up Anna in his arms, turned, and tossed her onto the bed.
"Anna Thornton! You think the title of Mrs. Sterling only has you as a choice?"
The towel on Anna almost fell apart from his toss, luckily she gripped its edge, hurriedly curling her legs away from him.
Neither of them was a pushover, holding each other in contention, neither willing to compromise.
"Alright then, first call Marilyn Ford to break up. You must cut off all ties with other women, only then do we stand a chance." Anna proposed a compromise, "Second, even if registration isn’t possible now, show sincerity besides this ring; I need leverage, something of weight so that I won’t fear your retracting tomorrow."
The first wasn’t hard to handle; Conrad unhesitatingly pulled out his phone, calling Marilyn Ford.
His phone already showed dozens of missed calls from Marilyn Ford.
So upon redialing, it was immediately answered.
Without waiting for Marilyn to speak, Conrad already said: "We broke up!"
In simple five words, it wasn’t a consultative tone, merely a notification!
No response was needed from the woman; Conrad finished speaking and hung up directly.
Then, he turned off the phone, handing it to Anna Thornton for her to keep: "Are you satisfied?"
"What about the second point! Tell me a secret, it has to be heavy enough; its value will be my judgment. If deemed worthwhile, I’ll be with you tonight!"
