Chapter 186: Chapter 186
"Master, we’ve found Miss! She’s over there!"
Finn left the banquet in a hurry before it was over upon hearing that something happened to his sister.
As he approached, he saw Sarah crouched down hugging her knees. Her shoes were gone at some unknown time, her feet were dirty and swollen, but most importantly, her expensive dress was clearly torn by someone.
Seeing Sarah in such an embarrassed state, shivering like a frightened little animal, Finn’s deep eyes instantly filled with rage, and he took off his coat to cover her.
Turning his head, he slapped the subordinate he had just sent out without saying a word.
"I told you to protect Miss closely, what kind of job are you doing?"
Finn’s strength was immense; the bodyguards he esteemed were all burly and robust, yet the one slap made his face swell instantly.
Yet not a sound of complaint was heard; he bowed his head and acknowledged his mistake: "We located Miss’s car, but she didn’t drive away, so we had to search for her everywhere. Finally found her here... she encountered some drunken thugs, but fortunately nothing happened..."
Another clear slap, this time the speaking bodyguard’s face finally swelled symmetrically.
Finn pointed at Sarah: "You tell me this is called nothing happened? Where are those beasts?"
"Speak properly, don’t stammer!"
Even though his face had changed from swelling, he still displayed complete fear of Finn in his expression, glanced up to peek at him, and forced himself to answer: "They tried to bully Miss, but passersby saw it and reported to the police; they were already taken to the station."
Finn said nothing after listening, first putting the continually crying Sarah into the car.
Instructed his men to send her back.
"Jenny’s condition isn’t just because of those beasts; it’s definitely related to Henry."
"Go investigate! Tonight, all those who made her unhappy... will pay a painful price!"
"Excuse me, is this Miss Anna Thornton?"
"This is the hospital, do you know a gentleman named Henry Willow? He’s had an accident, and is critically ill; we can’t reach his family, we hope you can come over when you have time."
"Henry, critically ill?!!!"
Anna suspected it was a prank call, but she checked the number, and it was indeed from the hospital.
Upon rushing to the hospital, she indeed saw Henry, who was hopping around a few days ago, now lying on the bed, near death, with a leg suspended, his entire body wrapped in bandages...
Were it not for his very recognizable eyes, Anna would hardly recognize him.
Henry looked physically weak but was mentally and emotionally stable.
Those eyes opened to see Anna, the corners turned up, as a greeting to her.
"What happened to you? Hit by a truck?"
Anna sat next to Henry, glanced at his medical reports. Multiple fractures all over his body, with one compound fracture, lungs and head severely impacted, now breathing aided by machines.
Henry couldn’t speak for now, he slightly curled his lips, mouthing the word ’Finn’ to Anna.
"Finn? You were beaten by Finn Grant."
Henry blinked, as if nodding.
Even though it was obvious that Finn held immense dislike for Henry, biting teeth hate, wanting to hit him for a long time.
But Anna was somewhat surprised he actually did, and so heavily.
It’s no exaggeration to say, Henry’s current state looked like half his life was taken!
"You must have bullied his sister, right? To bully to such an extent to receive such retribution?"
Anna spoke of ’retribution,’ because in her view, Henry brought it on himself.
Being so reckless, hardly anyone could cope.
Sarah’s endurance wasn’t due to extraordinary talent but true love!
"I say, if one day you lose this love through your own recklessness, then realize Sarah’s importance, you wouldn’t regret it, would you?"
Hearing Anna’s words, Henry rolled his eyes at her.
The look said: "If you’re here to chat about this, you better leave!"
"Fine, I’ll go then! Anyway, work is busy at the film set!"
Anna really picked up her bag and got up to leave.
She couldn’t help much even if she stayed; although she’d taken care of a daughter before, Henry being a big man, it wasn’t convenient.
Anna thought finding a professional caregiver would be better.
"Shall I help you find a caregiver?"
Anna slightly lowered her eyes, waiting for Henry to express his opinion.
Just then, a voice came from behind.
Anna heard and looked up, seeing Conrad coming.
"The caregiver couldn’t reach me this morning, so they called you instead."
"Oh." Anna moved to the side, giving the prime visiting position to President Sterling, "Since your good friend President Sterling is here, it seems I’m no longer needed."
"By the way, when did Henry get injured?" Anna couldn’t help but be curious. ɪꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs, ᴘʟᴇᴀsᴇ ᴠɪsɪᴛ novelꜰire.net
"Three days ago," Conrad said, "Took three days to transfer out of ICU."
"Seems he broke up with that Miss Grant?" Anna asked.
"Yes, rather extremely; broke the heart of Sixth Miss Grant."
"Deserved a beating!"
"Finn’s sister, after leaving the banquet that night, was assaulted by thugs who failed. Though they were detained for only two days, once released, all had their hands mutilated! Henry, not complying with Sarah’s intentions, was set upon by Finn’s men, beaten near death. And the girl who had contact with Henry that night mysteriously vanished for three days, guess where she is now?" Conrad looked at Anna.
Anna knew what he meant, and asked back: "So what?"
"I’ve said it before, you’ve never seen him genuinely insane; he’s a hundred times more ruthless than you’d imagine."
Anna certainly knew, Finn wouldn’t be in his position if he only told corny jokes.
But doesn’t everyone have a dual nature?
"President Sterling, don’t you have a dark and sinister side?"
Anna compared Conrad to Finn, the man’s face immediately fell: "I’m talking about him, why bring up me?"
"You had the caregiver call me to see Henry , didn’t you want to warn me? But I’m no monkey."
Henry on the bed: "???" Then who is the chicken?
"Speaking of which, I actually find Finn’s decisiveness quite appealing." Anna tugged at a strand of hair, a playful smile on her lips, "You know, when I was ruined by Holly Sutton four years ago, I always fantasized about how satisfying it would be to revenge her when I had the power."
"Yet those satisfying revenges aren’t covered by law; not even an eye for an eye. Finn’s vicious methods have no burden; if only he could use them to help me take revenge!"
Conrad warned Anna of Finn’s danger, but she planned to wield this danger as her weapon.
Whether to say this woman is too ambitious or fearless!
"Anna, negotiating with The Devil, what do you plan to trade? On what basis do you think you can control him, make him avenge you? Just because he seems interested now? Then you’re mistaken, men’s so-called interest could be gone faster and cheaper than you’d think!"
"Negotiating with The Devil?" Anna felt the metaphor was apt, as it wasn’t her first time.
However, Anna was too busy today to anger Conrad more, to get caught up further with him.
"President Sterling, thank you for your warning, I’ll think about it carefully when I get back."
