Chapter 177: Chapter 177
"Miss Grant, we’ve got new arrivals in our store today."
"Bring them all out for me to see." Sarah Grant sat with her legs crossed in the luxury mall, tapping her fingers on the leather sofa. "Am I the first to get the news in all of Aethelgard?"
"Of course, last time you left a large deposit, asking us to notify you immediately when new items arrived."
"Good! I want to be the first to choose. For the next month, everyone else will be wearing the shoes I didn’t think were good enough!"
Sarah just sat drinking coffee, flipping through a magazine, while the store staff brought out all the new shoes for her to try on, one by one.
She lazily glanced to judge which pair looked best on her and decided to keep those.
"Hmm, this one’s nice."
"But I wonder if there’s something even better? I’m going to a party at the end of the month, and it’s at my future in-laws’ place. I must be the most beautiful one there."
Just as she finished speaking, she heard the hurried sound of high heels approaching.
"Sarah Grant, why did you get notified before me?"
Hearing this, Sarah lazily lifted her eyelids and glanced at the person coming.
"Needless to say, it’s because I’m the true first socialite of Aethelgard. Faye Willow, are you trying to compete with me?"
Faye Willow snorted and sat on the other side of the leather sofa, pointing at a pair of silver peep-toe high heels, instructing the staff, "Bring that one for me to try."
"No way!" Sarah Grant stopped the staff. "Didn’t you see I was here first? I choose first, and only when I’m done can others buy."
"Why can’t I choose with you? You can’t buy that many by yourself." Faye retorted.
"Who says I can’t buy them?" Sarah Grant put down her magazine, stood up, and said directly, "Boss, wrap up all the new styles for me, charge it to my brother."
"Sarah Grant!" Faye Willow stood up, hands on her hips in anger, "You’re deliberately targeting me."
"I am targeting you, so what?"
"You... what’s so great about you? It’s just because of your brother, right?"
"That’s right, my brother spoils me, and my boyfriend is Henry Willow, so I’m backing him! Are you not happy? What can you do about it?"
Sarah Grant had never liked Faye Willow; her mom was a mistress who rose to power.
What’s so great about legitimizing her position? She dares to compete with her?
Of course, there was a bigger reason. Ever since Faye Willow moved into the Willow Family, Henry moved out.
They were occupying what rightfully belonged to Henry, which made Sarah hate the siblings every time she saw them. ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ novel(ꜰ)ire.net
"Sarah Grant, don’t think I don’t know what you’re trying to do. You’re standing up for Henry, aren’t you?"
"Henry is my boyfriend. He hates you guys, so I hate you too."
Sarah spoke as if it were only natural, but hearing this, Faye gave a disdainful chuckle.
"You think Henry is your boyfriend, but he’s not treating you as his girlfriend. Sarah Grant, you claim to be Aethelgard’s first socialite, but the way you cling to Henry is just pathetic."
"Isn’t it true? Everyone knows Henry is a playboy. You can’t control him. Believe it or not, he was hitting on a girl at the club yesterday and booked a room."
"He hit on my junior and sent a thousand roses. Don’t believe me? Go check; the flower shop still has a record of his order. Your best girlfriends have all slept with Henry... but you’re the only one kept in the dark, and everyone laughs at how naive you are."
"Faye Willow, you keep lying ?"
"Am I lying? Do you dare to ask?"
Faye knew Henry was Sarah’s weak spot and kept pressing it: "Sarah Grant, I feel sorry for you. You got such a worrisome boyfriend. Only you treat Henry like a treasure. In our eyes, he’s nothing but good-looking..."
"You still dare to speak?!!"
In anger, Sarah kicked off her high heels, and one landed on Faye’s shin.
Faye cried out in pain, "How dare you hit me?"
"The shoe hit you, not me. But if you dare slander Henry again, don’t blame me for not being polite."
"So what if I did? I’m speaking the truth. Even my dad says Henry is a good-for-nothing freeloader and regrets ever having him as a son!"
"I’ll tear your mouth off..."
Sarah Grant put her words into action, rolling up her sleeves.
The clash between the two famous heiresses of the Grant and Willow families in the luxury store was no small matter.
The commotion reached Finn Grant, who immediately interrupted a business signing ceremony to support his sister.
On the Willow side, Faye’s mother, Lauren Chambers, came to handle the situation.
By then, Sarah and Faye, who had been locked in a fierce fight, were forcibly separated.
When Finn arrived, seeing his sister’s lip with a small cut made him furious.
Finally seeing her savior, Sarah Grant leaped into Finn’s arms for comfort, looking like she had suffered a great grievance.
But actually, Faye got hurt much worse than she did.
Sarah only had a small scratch from a fingernail, while Faye had a bruise on the corner of her mouth, and one of her eyes was swollen.
Even so, Lauren urged her daughter, "Faye, go apologize to Jenny."
"Mom, it was Sarah who started it, and you see how beaten up I am, why should I apologize first?" Faye protested.
"I already asked the staff present, and they said you provoked Miss Grant first."
The point wasn’t who provoked whom first, but that Finn Grant didn’t care who started it.
Whoever lays a finger on his sister, he won’t let it slide, no matter who’s at fault.
Young Master Grant has that bad temper and uses his intermittent mental issues as an excuse, so everyone in Aethelgard must accommodate him.
At present, the Grant Family is doing the best among the Four Great Families, so Lauren, for the greater good, can’t afford to offend the two of them and can only let her daughter suffer a little.
Urged by her mother, Faye reluctantly dragged herself in front of Sarah: "I’m sorry."
The apology was made, but Finn said, "After beating my sister , you think an apology is enough?"
"She hit me too, what else do you want?" Faye asked.
"I said Sarah is young and ignorant. If anyone has a problem with her, come to me, and if you want to fight, fight with me. What’s the point of bullying a kid?"
Sarah and Faye are the same age, both twenty, and attend the same university.
It’s just that Finn indulges his sister like a child, running wild all over Aethelgard.
But does Finn mean to beat her up?
Faye looked at his fist as big as a sandbag, retreated straight back, and hid behind her mom.
Lauren quickly apologized with a smile: "Young Master Grant, I’m really sorry. Faye and Jenny are good friends, and this is just a little quarrel between young girls. At their age, it’s natural for them to argue impulsively. As parents, we shouldn’t interfere, so how about letting them settle their own matters?"
"Faye, why don’t you tell us what the argument was about?"
At this, Sarah quickly interrupted before Faye could speak: "Brother, I’m not really hurt, and she’s worse off than me. Let’s just let it go this time!"
Only when Sarah speaks does Finn listen a little.
But he still retorted discontentedly: "Just because you say let it go, it goes?"
"Yes, I say let it go!"
Seeing Finn subdued by Sarah, Faye’s mom quickly took the chance to pull her away.
After they left and no one else was around, Finn started to settle his sister’s account.
"Why were you fighting? Was it over Henry again?"
"Brother, what are you talking about? What does it have to do with Henry? I was just fighting with Faye over a pair of shoes."
"You think you can fool me? You were in such a rush to let them go just now because you were afraid I’d find out it involved Henry, right? Can’t even win over a pair of shoes, and you call yourself Finn Grant’s sister?"
Even though she was exposed, Sarah still wouldn’t admit it: "Anyway, it’s not for Henry, just for the shoes. It’s got nothing to do with Henry, you’re the one with a problem with him, bringing him into this, don’t think I don’t know."
Finn couldn’t be bothered with her betraying her brother for outsiders, even turning the tables.
The scene of their fight was a mess, and the staff was tidying up, as everything here was being charged to Young Master Grant’s account.
Among them was a pair of red high heels, which Finn immediately liked at first glance.
"Jenny, if I were to bring a sister-in-law into the house, along with a little burden, would you mind?"
"I wouldn’t mind!" Sarah responded without hesitation.
"But that little burden’s father is someone I really dislike. Do you think having them around all the time would be annoying?"
"It’s you who dislikes her dad, not me. If it were me, I’d probably also find it annoying. Faye’s mom is a mistress, I never liked her, so it’s clear that bad parental behavior does affect the children and is probably inherited."
"Could it be possible that the daughter only takes after the mother? And the little one is just three, never living with her annoying dad, so she might not have picked up any bad habits."
"If I start raising them now, don’t you think the little one will only see me as a dad in the future?"
"And having Conrad’s daughter call me dad would annoy him too, wouldn’t it?"
Finn had started talking to himself, and Sarah gave him an eye-roll, "Brother, stop making excuses, just marry her already if you like. Anyway, you have the money, our house is big enough, raising one more or one less makes no difference. I have no objections, do whatever you like."
With Sarah’s words, Finn seemed to have finally found a reason to make up his mind, "That’s right, as long as I like her, who cares about her history with any man! From now on, whether big or small, she’ll be mine!"
Having been so troubled for so many days, he finally figured it out.
Just as the staff finished tidying up the shoes and passed by, Finn reached out, "Give me that red pair."
"Brother, these shoes are all bought by me."
"You bought them? Do you have the money? If you want me to pay for you, fine, but I’m giving this pair to your future sister-in-law."
