Chapter 111: Chapter 111

"What did you say? Did I hear you wrong?"

Anna looked confusedly at the "pigeon egg" on her plate, then glanced at Finn Grant across from her. She was wondering, she hadn’t drunk any alcohol, how come she’s intoxicated?

"I said I’m proposing to you, didn’t you hear me? Or are you pretending not to hear?"

Finn looked at Anna skeptically, he’d made himself so clear, and the roses and the ring were right in front of her.

What was there not to understand?

Anna exchanged glances with Mary, judging from the latter’s mouth wide open expression, she should have heard the same thing, indicating it wasn’t an illusion.

"But why?" Anna couldn’t comprehend.

"I’m at the age to get married," Finn offered a simple explanation.

Actually, in recent years, everyone in the Grant Family has been anxious about Finn’s lifelong commitment.

The elders, well, as they grow older, they have these notions, especially when Finn turned thirty, they pushed even more.

Furthermore, the Grant Family has few offspring, so the responsibility of carrying on the lineage falls heavily on Finn’s shoulders.

But he has many things to deal with daily, leaving him no time to attend arranged blind dates from his family’s elders.

"Young Master Grant, you want to marry me? But we’ve only met twice, and you don’t even know my name."

"Just found out, you’re called Anna! Though you tricked me into thinking you’re underage, I see you’re at least eighteen." Finn glanced at Anna, generously saying, "Even if you’re not of legal marriage age, it’s okay, we can get engaged first, I’ll wait for a few years."

"You can also move into the Grant residence with me, and start living as my wife in advance. But you need to promise not to cross my boundaries, especially don’t clash with my sister. As the sister-in-law, you must unconditionally support and take care of her. If I find she’s been bullied by you behind my back, I won’t just throw you out of the Grant Family..."

"Wait!" Anna interrupted as Finn rambled on, even talking about life as a sister-in-law and sister-in-law after marriage, "Can I first ask, why me? Even if you’re of marriageable age, with your background and status as Young Master Grant, there should be many high-society daughters lining up for you in Aethelgard." "Hmm." Finn nodded, pleased with the flattery in her words.

Therefore, mercifully explained further: "As long as someone catches my eye, it doesn’t matter if they’re a high-society daughter or not. I’ve observed you; your psychological strength and courage are quite good, appearance... acceptable. You won’t embarrass the Grant Family outside, nor are you too mismatched with me."

Oh, this person’s standards are really high, almost too confident.

"I’m busy in the business world year-round, indeed the home needs a woman to take charge. The most important point is when I watched you communicate with Jenny yesterday, it’s rare for her to actually listen to someone talk. Once you marry in, take good care of her, and strive to soon awaken her, bring her thoughts away from that person with the last name Liu."

Anna understood: "Young Master Grant, you’re not looking for a wife but rather a nanny."

"What do you mean? Are you unwilling?" Finn’s gaze fell on Anna, his eyes seeming to hook, as if she dared say ’no’ today, she wouldn’t leave through that door.

Though now he dresses sharply in a suit, yet the fierce arrogance from yesterday, publicly kidnapping, still seeped through.

Even Mary couldn’t help but secretly tug Anna under the table, hinting her to choose words wisely, speak gentler.

"Or is it because I just stated requirements without offering you benefits? Rest assured, being the Grant Family’s lady, you wouldn’t lack anything. As long as you meet my criteria, I’ll satisfy any aspiration you have in terms of food, clothing, and lifestyle."

This diamond-level rich second-generation, the only child in the family, handsome, fit, and capable, suddenly proposing sounds like a pie falling from the sky.

But earlier Anna asked Finn why he chose her amongst many socialite daughters available, this man only said his standards were high, yet never directly answered.

Anna felt he might be hiding something!

Things rarely fall from the sky, if they do, they certainly wouldn’t land on her, maybe there’s a hidden trap behind it.

"I’ve said what I needed, do you have any other questions? If not, quickly put on the ring." Finn urged impatiently.

Women are troublesome, with too many questions. Previously having Jenny alone at home shouting was enough for him, now there’s another.

Truthfully, if Grandfather hadn’t repeatedly urged him, demanding marriage or threatening to find a surrogate for heirs, Finn wouldn’t be so hasty as to propose to Anna.

Thankfully, though this woman’s appearance was suspiciously sudden, her looks and character matched his taste.

Finn was just waiting for Anna to nod and wear the ring, quickly take her home to report to Grandfather finally glimpsing a great-grandchild arriving.

Then, affairs tonight... reproduction, succession... two children in three years!

Who would’ve known what he awaited was Anna saying: "Young Master Grant, this ring is too precious, I can’t bear it."

"You dare refuse me?"

The threat in Finn’s eyes was clear; he proposed publicly in the restaurant tonight, so many witnesses.

For the Grant Family’s Young Master, rejected proposal, where does his pride go?

Anna must not know the outcomes of offending him.

So does this person assume a proposal to a woman met twice, and the first time was kidnapping, guarantees acceptance?

Creating fanfare this massive, not giving any retreat option.

Anna, trying to allow him an exit, fearing a fallout still carefully choosing words: "I’m not refusing you, just hoping you’d reconsider carefully. After all, you don’t know me well... Actually, I’m an actress. My acting career just started, I can’t stay as a full-time housewife after marriage in a family like yours. Also, your family likely avoids women from the entertainment industry. Plus, as an actress, my reputation isn’t good, full of scandals, and I’ve had a child, really not a suitable match to marry you."

With each word Anna said, Finn’s expression worsened: "You want to deceive me still?"

"What I’m saying now is true. Since just returning to the domestic scene, I have little fame, Young Master Grant busy working may not know me, but search online and you’ll find information. Also, give me your phone..." Anna reached out to Finn, seeing his wary expression, she explained, "I’ll show evidence proving I’m truthful, assuring once you see it, you’ll lose interest."

Finn, skeptically, handed her the phone, warning: "You better prove your honesty, or I’ll make you regret having that mouth daringly lying to me."

Hearing this, Anna didn’t hesitate, directly pulling out a photo with Pop on the phone showing him: "Look, this is my daughter."

Finn saw she and the little one in the photo did indeed resemble: "How would I know whether this child is your daughter or your sister?"

"My father died four years ago, my mother even earlier, over a decade ago. You can verify; it’s impossible for me to have a sister."

Seeing her expression reasonably sincere, Finn: "You really have a child?"

"I really told you the truth from the start, you chose not to believe," Anna, though rejecting him, still posed as futilely wretched in hopes of Mary and her leaving tonight, "Honestly to receive your favor, Young Master Grant, I’m truly honored. It’s a pity I couldn’t meet you earlier, destined our paths don’t cross, alas."
