Chapter 61: Chapter 61

Lucien's POV

I walked out of my chambers, and that should be the first time in so many weeks. I've always been the kind of person whose always indoors. The guards followed me behind while I walked in front.

Holding my robe with my left hand, I walked bravely to the treasury room. I go there every month ending to check the treasures that I've kept there.

Axel quickly opened the chains and padlock used to lock the door, and throws the door open. I walked into the dark treasury room, and looked around it. I was already used to the dark, so I could see through it perfectly.

The first place I went to was the place I placed my precious diamond necklace. I consider that treasure precious because it was the last gift my late wife had given to me before she was gruesomely killed.

I picked up the little silver bowl where I usually place the necklace, and to my greatest surprise it was nowhere to be found. Not only that, but I flared up with so much rage. Furthermore, I can lose every other treasure in the treasury room but this... Likewise, I don't think I'll be able to take it.

"Axel!" I called out with a croaky voice, and he quickly walked to me, and bowed in front of me.

"Who has entered this room ever since last month after I did the counting?" I asked with anger in the tone of my voice.

"No one to my knowledge my Lord!" He replied, and bowed at me again. That angered me the more because it was obvious someone must have sneaked into the treasury room, and made away with the necklace.

"Who dares? Who dares meddle with Stone's precious diamond necklace? Who?" I growled with anger written all over me.

"Master, I think I know of a way to find out who must have taken the diamond necklace" That was the first time that Rodolfo spoke since he was following me around. I raised my eyebrows and turned my gaze at him. I was waiting impatiently for him to tell me what his suggestion was.

"I think we should search everyone's belongings. There's no way the treasure must have left the castle. Whoever it was that stole the treasure must still be with it" Rodolfo continued, and for the first time I bought his idea.

"No one... I repeat no one is allowed to go anywhere until the treasure I'd found. Whoever it was that took the treasure away will be stoned to death, and the body of the so-called thief will be burnt to ashes. Find the damned person and do exactly what I told you to the person" I groaned and walked away still fuming with anger.

Every other thing can get missing, but I'll never allow the precious necklace to go missing. That will be me letting my late wife down, and nothing on Earth will make me leave the culprit alive, not even hell or heaven. The thief must sacrifice his or her life.

Madison's POV

I was busy reading a book when Mona rushed into my room panting heavily. Fear gripped me as I jerked up from the mat staring at her with widened eyes.

"What's... What's going on Mona? Is someone after you?" I asked anxiously with my eyes almost popping out of its socket.

"I wish that was the case but no. It's the Master Stone. I heard his precious diamond necklace is missing. That's the worst nightmare for everyone inhabiting the castle" Mona continued.

"What do you mean by that? What precious diamond necklace? I'm trying to understand what you're saying, but I really find it hard to. What do you mean?" I asked anxiously, and she gulped hard.

"That diamond necklace is the most precious treasure that the Master so much adores. I heard that he went to recount the treasures, and found out that the diamond necklace is missing" Mona explained, and I gasped in shock.

"What? Who could have taken the diamond necklace? I mean who else enters the treasury if not the master?" I asked rather confused.

"That's not even the real issue Madison. I really pity whoever it is that stole the diamond necklace because the master's order of what to do the culprit is really fearful" Mona shook her head sadly.

"What has the master ordered? Who could have stolen the diamond necklace? I really don't want to get into trouble with the master, and this simply means that he's going to be angry with us for a long time. He might punish us even if we are not the ones that stole the diamond necklace" I cried out.

"The master has ordered that all the rooms of the slaves should be searched thoroughly, and whoever is the culprit will be stoned to death. He didn't stop there, he also said that the culprit's body will be burnt to ashes" Mona said, and I gasped.

"What? That's too much of a punishment. I really pity whoever it is" I was still talking when the door of my room was thrown open. I didn't need anyone to tell me that it was my turn for my room to be searched.

Three guards walked into my room, and started scattering every single belongings I had in search of the diamond necklace.

I stood at the other end of the room waiting for them to leave because I'm sure that I didn't steal anything.

Mona held my hand as we watched the guards scatter everything I had including my underwear on the ground. That's what it means to be a slave... Everyone is allowed to treat you anyhow they wished to even the guards.

Suddenly, one the guards screamed out loud, and I turned my gaze sharply to him.

"I found the necklace" He shouted, and I widened my eyes in shock.

In my room? How is that even possible when I didn't take the necklace? I haven't even seen the necklace before. How come?
