Chapter 27: Chapter 27

MICK

Mick watched as Ivy went about the daily activities like she didn't have any care in the world. He had been sent to always watch her and make sure she was acting according to the Witch Queen's instructions, but it seemed she had forgotten the reason why she was in the pack already.

Mick clenched his fists angrily, as he couldn't fathom why Ivy would get carried away with staying in the pack. He wanted so much to meet her and talk some sense into her, but that would foil their plans. She was given a simple task to carry out their mission, but here she was, acting like there was a lot of time left. This angered him to the core and he wasn't going to let it go just like that.

"Damnit! I'll teach her a bitter lesson if she fails to carry out our plans." He snapped.

He exhaled angrily and left to see Ava, the witch Queen. He needed to tell her what things were developing into, so they could act fast.

The room was dark, which gave off an eerie feeling. The silence surrounding the atmosphere was deafening. The only sound that could be heard was the tapping of fingers on the rail of the throne and the clicking of feet below the throne.

The door to the throne room screeched faintly and opened. The Queen was quiet and keen to see who would dare enter her throne room unannounced, but her anger faded when Mick walked in.

"Greetings, your highness." Mick bowed.

"To what do I owe this sudden visit, Mick?" The Queen's voice resonated throughout the room.

"It is about our Hunter," Mick answered.

When the Queen heard what Mick said, she knew it was a serious matter. She clapped her hands, and the lights came on. Mick looked up to see her sitting on her throne with maids on each side. Her red ball gown was scattered all over the place and her hair fell in waves. She indeed was a beauty to behold, but within that beauty lies a ruthless soul, who no one should dare to mess with. She could kill with just a snap of her fingers, and no one would be able to question her.

"Leave us," Queen Ava ordered the maids who stood beside her. They bowed and left the room, leaving only her and Mick. "What about the hunter? Isn't she implementing what we sent her?" Queen Ava asked.

"I'm afraid not, My Queen. It seems that she has gotten carried away with living in that pack." Mick answered, anger and disappointment evident in the way he spoke.

"She wouldn't dare!" Queen Ava snapped and slammed her hand on the rail of the throne. "No one dares to screw up my plans, no one. I asked you to keep an eye on her," She said.

"I did keep an eye on her." Mick replied.

"What has she been up to?" Queen Ava asked.

"Like I said earlier, she got carried away. I haven't seen her make any attempts to accomplish our plan. Instead, she became closer to them, doing all manner of things that they do. She has derailed from the path we set up for her, my Queen." Mick answered.

Queen Ava chuckled. Her beautiful face turned cold and dreadful. "I gave her everything she needed to carry out that mission. It was as simple as taking candy from a baby. Is she trying to doublecross me or what?" Ava snapped.

"She wouldn't dare, since she is aware of the consequences." Mick spoke up.

"She mustn't fail me. Make sure she doesn't fail me. I have come too far to lose to anyone," Ava said, balling her fists.

"What are we going to do if Ivy fails to go through with the plan?" Mick asked.

"She isn't going to fail. She wouldn't dare to fail," Ava said.

"But what if she does? I have been watching her for some time now and judging from her actions, she might have a change of mind. If that happens, what are we going to do?" Mick asked.

"If that happens, I won't spare her. I will forget the fact that I sent her on this mission and end her pathetic life. She is my hunter and should forever be loyal to me," Ava said.

Mick nodded at her words. She was indeed right. Everything that happened was not a coincidence. It was their plan all along and they have been responsible for every little thing. He couldn't comprehend why the once determined Ivy suddenly lost focus on what she was in the pack for. Whenever he saw her with those pathetic wolves, he'd take a lot of his self-control not to jump at them and teach them a lesson. He was not ready to lose as well. Their picture perfect plan must be accomplished.

Mick was also aware that the Queen was not someone to be tampered with. He remembered when the Queen strictly warned the girl not to get carried away with life in the pack because those people are very manipulative, but now it seemed the girl was bent on doing the opposite of what she was sent there to do. If he were the one, he would have gotten all these over with a long time ago to avoid stressing others out.

"Permit me to deal with her if she doesn't meet up to our expectations," Mick said, knowing how pissed off the Witch Queen would be by now. He could see from her expression that was thinking of what to do.

Ava raised her hand to stop him. If anyone was going to deal with Ivy, it should be her. She had trained the girl with the hope that she would be loyal to her, but now that it seemed this girl wanted to derail, she was in the best position to decide her fate.

"There is no need for that. All you need to do is to continue watching her and report anything suspicious to me. I will decide Ivy's fate personally if she fails me," Ava said.

"If you say so." Mick shrugged.

"You may go," Ava said.

Mick sighed and left the throne room. He was going to make sure things went as planned.
