Chapter 5: Chapter 5

Soon days crept away faster than the speed of light. The leaves amongst the forests of Rainford changed their colors and soon after each mountain was decorated naturally with their red-lavatic new leaves.
The blessed day of mate ball finally approached as usual same as other years on that windy evening. All the packs stated over the Rainford Zone had come to one final decision that they would hold this ceremony at a certain place. After reconsidering everyone's benefits, they thought that it would be the best idea to celebrate their mating ceremony at the stone-sculptured villa over G-Mountain. The villa was completely made of stones as its outdoors was adjusted with the open grassy field of G-Mountain. The other reasonable reason for choosing this place was that the moon goddess showed her blessing through her light closely over this top mountain.
The eve of mate-ball soon fell as hundreds of unmated teenagers started climbing up over the mountain excitedly. They all were dressed nicely in this wishful thought that what if they found their soulmate this evening? A mate was the most essential part of a wolf's destiny that couldn't be taken clumsily. The villa over G-Mountain seemed particularly lively today after getting decorated nicely with white lily flowers. The warm moonlight sprawling over the roof made its beauty more enchanting. The whole villa was filled with chatter and laughter that traveled far away from the mountain.
" Aahh. Walk faster, Vi. You are making us late.", Brian urged hurriedly while pestering the girl behind him to walk faster. Viona just rolled her eyes at her brother's impatient behavior. It had been more than one decade since he was joining this eve to find out his soul mate but never worked so far. At first, she didn't wish to join but Brian's emotional words captured her heart easily. In the end, she had to follow this man over G-Mountain reluctantly.
Viona sighed helplessly one last time, tugged down her silver gown neatly, and trailed him off closely as they strode upstairs. After glancing back and forth, she had to admit one fact the villa was perfectly decorated tonight, mesmerizing enough to appeal to the visitors.
Shifting her attention from the exterior, she looked ahead and saw Brian stepping in. As soon as her brother made his appearance, the teenage heirs from several packs whistled playfully and one of them chirped,
" There..there..there...Our handsome Alpha..Come on bro..Why are you so.."
The blondie-haired boy paused between his words abruptly once his eyes fell on Viona behind Brian. They exchanged glances meaningfully and returned to their dull mood as if she had caused their happy moment to ruin off. That made Viona very uneasy as she sighed softly and tried to force a smile. She knew that they had a lot of questions and curiosity about her appearance. To be honest, she didn't want to be in the limelight but it was inevitable for her to hide away from others because of her bold, tough composure among packs.
Brian who noticed his friend's uncomfortableness quickly talked first to dismiss this awkwardness. He skipped behind the blondie-haired boy and plopped down beside his side saying,
" Come on boys, who missed me? Look, I have brought my sister to cheer up her mood. Don't scare her off. Come on, welcome her. She has joined this ball after an age."
Viona smiled at them faintly. The teenagers were relaxed after hearing out Brian's cheering voice and welcomed Viona with a smile. On the contrary, Viona was relieved since the boys accepted her appearance calmly.
The boys continued chatting with Brian and offered a seat to Viona which she denied politely. She didn't want to become a third wheel in their friend circle and excused herself from there.
After fetching a glass of red wine from the bartender, she decided to find a quiet place for her and headed towards the spacious corridor of that villa unaware of her tragic fate that was knocking on the door.
Meanwhile, the unmated Alphas from various packs started to make a presence at the yearly meatball gladly. Each one of them had undoubtedly beautiful features that attracted so many unmated girls from their gathering. Unfortunately, no matter how much affection they felt, at the end of time, they were destined to be left alone with their mate.
Damien wasn't uncommon in the gathering. He had been constantly joining this ball in the hope that his pack would find out about his Luna soon. Unfortunately, his mate was nowhere to be seen this year. His pack members were pushing him so hard to find his mate that at one certain moment, he wanted to follow the path of choosing a mate. Still, he held back himself for the sake of his destined mate.
Damien kept climbing through the stairs gloomily as his beta, Celeb closely trailed him off and could feel the burning fury of his Alpha. He swallowed hard and wished that he could run away from him. Unfortunately, he was promised to follow his Alpha till death.
After crossing two stairs, Damien grumbled tugging on his blue coat that shone on his muscular body like a crafted jewel,
" Just one task! I asked you to find a woman from our packs. Yet you couldn't do it. Do you deserve to be called my loyal assistant, Celeb?"
Celeb immediately shook his head denying and badly wanting to spit out the truth that his art was so bad that it was difficult for him to figure out the exact person. He made a queue of possibilities but no one had admitted to meeting their Alpha.
After all, who would dare to hunt in their area without their order?
But he had to swallow back those words for the sake of his dear life and tried to coax Damien shipping,
" Alpha, don't get mad at me. Moreover, today is mate ball. Who knows that you may find out your mate? Besides, you just met that girl once and didn't know anything about her. How could you expect her to be your Luna without knowing her background? "
Damien halted in his track abruptly and shot the bold man behind him a death glare. He barked through his gritted teeth,
" Do you think that I, Damien care about her background? I only need her. If somehow I find my mate tonight and lose that girl, you will bear all the consequences. Get ready! "
Celeb was dumbfounded and he just wanted to die. He didn't do anything yet he would receive the punishments. Forget about everything! He must find that damn girl who wavered their Alpha's heart.
After giving his harsh command, Damien proceeded forward before stepping into the middle of drunkard men. His presence was intimidating that quite forced the other drunkard Alphas to shriek at a corner. His phoenix eyes swiped over the crowd before stopping over a familiar figure who was drunk pretty badly.
Hardin, his friend and fellow Alpha from Crystal Pack was now blurbing on his wine repeatedly and failed to notice Damien's presence. As soon as their eyes met, Hardin jumped off from his spot and approached Damien staggering slightly whilst the others curled themselves in a corner.
Hardin was his only closest friend among the packs thus he acted with him quite friendly than others. Hardin scoffed after punching Damien's chest,
" Hey, big boy! Why did you take so long? See, I got so many hot chicks today."
He grumbled before winking at a bunch of teenage girls who blushed hard at Hardin profusely. Damien snorted before pushing his buddy off his arms,
" You are being too noisy! Why don't you find a place and sober up first? Don't embarrass your packs in front of others."
Damien scolded his drunkard friend and gestured at Celeb to help Hardin on sitting down. Celeb immediately complied with his order and went to grab Hardin who was still staggering on his feet.
Shaking his head helplessly, Damien walked over to the bartender ignoring the fearful gazes around him completely. He knew that they feared him like hell but he didn't care. His thoughts were still clouded with that woman's image. He needed to find something to distract his mind from her vision as soon as possible.
He snatched one glassfull wine from the bartender and started sipping from it quite. As Hardin made a huge fuss over breaking a flower vass, Damien was quickly distracted from his thoughts and instantly glared at Celeb who still couldn't handle Hardin.
Just at that moment, he intended to grab the drunkard man in his grip harshly, he heard a soothing tone like a breeze from midnight behind his back,
" Excuse me, can I get another drink?"
His breathing hitched as a desperate urge of facing the person came across his mind.
Why did he sense a certain familiarity?
