Chapter 52: Chapter 52

Alexander.

We must have stared at each other for a few minutes before I tried reminding myself that I had things to say. Most of which I don't remember, you can't blame me, my wolf is going overboard with the excitement of seeing his mate.

I thought of ways of starting the conversation so I don't piss her off especially since I am yet to understand fully how her powers work.

Don't get me wrong I am not scared of her, I am Alexander, I am not scared of anyone, but it's just that I can't risk having someone throwing up in the air like a little toy.

You are scared of our mate, my wolf said teasingly

Idiot

No, I am not, I snorted at him after which I blocked him completely so he does not interfere in my conversation with Ashley.

Talking with Ashley now is a bit different from before, I mean I would have tried going close to her by now and maybe raised my voice a little on her, but now I have to tread with caution.

“Why did you run away?” I asked her calmly while doing my best to conceal the urge to close the space between us.

“Is that why you came here, if that is the reason you came, then you have no business being here.” She said in a stern voice, not for once blinking her eyelids.

I noticed that she had changed as she was no longer the naive little Ashley I used to know. There was something about her that screamed badass and I liked it.

It was sexy.

With her current mood, it would be useless to try to get into an argument with her, it will end us nowhere.

“No, I came so we can talk, ” I said calmly, in a bid to ease up her already tensed mood.

“Okay I'm listening,” she said crossing both her hands over her chest. She was making this a whole lot harder than I anticipated.

“Did you miss me?” I asked since at that moment it was the only way I could think of starting our conversation.

I noticed for the first time since we started talking that she tried looking away before returning her gaze to me.

“Does it matter?” she replied

“Yeah, because I want to know if I am still the one that you love?” I said as I couldn't help the emotions that were starting to build up in my veins.

She fucking has a huge influence on me and it's a pity she does not even know that I am just like a puppet in her little pretty fingers

She sighed deeply as if trying to carefully pick her words.

“Look it does not matter anymore,” she said trying not to look me in the eyes while she spoke.

Her words broke my heart. I feared the worst as I waited for her say to something that I dreaded the most.

Maybe she truly does not love me anymore and maybe she has fallen in love with Jason.

“You don't love me anymore?” I asked in a broken voice after waiting in vain for her to say something.

“You left me, remember?” She questioned.

“I didn't mean to and you know it,”

“But you did, you left me to think that you were dead, do you know how difficult it was for me to live without you, do you know how I suffered just because I thought I was never going to see you again?” She said as tears starts spilling from her eyes.

Fuck

Someone, please remind her for me that I went on a battle, I don't know why she is being all defensive. I should be the one hurting, she is the one that has moved on with me. Yet again that is not something I wish to talk about, at least not now.

In a different time and place when emotions are not running high, I would talk about it. Tonight I am all about making peace and taking her home with me because my home is where she belongs.

“I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you, you know I can never hurt you,” I said in a very calm and pleading tone.

“But why did it take you so much to come for me?” she questioned, still wiping her eyes from tears that wouldn't just stop flowing.

“I never knew where you were till I got a letter asking me to come and fight if I wanted you back,”

“Jason sent you a letter?” she asked with a surprised looked.

“Yeah, he told me you were both were something and that the only he could let you go is if I agree to fight with him,” I said trying to hide the fact I was jealous by the mere thought of her being with Jason.

“So you were the one in the mask at the arena?” she said in a realization tone.

“Yes,” I answered, slightly offended that she couldn't recognize me just because I had a mask on.

“Where is Jason now,” she asked after some time.

“there had to be just one winner, that is what he agreed on. so he is dead,” I said looking at her as if to see if she felt sad by the news of Jason's death, but her face was giving nothing away.

“So what happens now,” she asked after what seemed like forever to me.

“We go home together and try to sort things out,” I said.

A piercing sound of a baby crying behind her startled me a bit as I had previously thought she was all alone.

“Who's that,” I asked

“He is my baby,” she said

“You have a baby?” I asked unable to comprehend what I had just heard.

It's seemed all the time I was trying to act cool finally took a toll as I didn't know when I start to raise my voice at her.

“I left you for a year and you have already had a baby, ashley?” I asked as I could feel my heart fall apart.

“I thought you said you loved me, I can't believe you would have moved on so fast without me. You should be carrying my baby and not that bastard's child,” I yelled at her as I couldn't control the amount of hurt I was in anymore.

It's one thing for me to have known that she was with Jason while I was away but it's another thing for me to continually see her with Jason's baby.

“You know what, maybe you were right, I had no business coming here after all. It seems I had already lost you a long time ago, bye Ashley,” I said, and was about to walk away when her voice stopped me in my tracks.

“Don't you want to know who the father of my baby is?” she asked and that made me turn to look at her.

“Alexander you are the only man I have been ever with, he is your son, our son. I discover I was pregnant after I left the pack house and had to keep the baby because I wanted to always have a part of you with me,” She said crying.

The news of me having a child created an invincible lumped in my throat that I couldn't speak as I stared unbelievably at ashley.

“I have a son?” I asked as I found myself unconsciously moving towards her and closing the space between us.

She nodded her head a yes while clearing her face that has turned all red by now.

As soon as I got close to where she was standing,  I wrapped my hands around her tightly and buried my face In her neck as I allow myself to drown in her sweet nerve-claiming scent.

“I'm sorry ashley, im so sorry, please forgive me,” I said to her as I felt her hands around my neck. We stayed and held on to each other and it felt as if we were the ones in the world.

“Don't you want to see your baby,” she asked after some time.

“I thought you will never ask,” I said as I tried to blink back the tears that were threatening to spill from my eyes.

I am an alpha, an alpha king at that, I can't be seen crying I said to myself.

Shut up, you are just a pussy, said my wolf teasingly.

You are an idiot, I snarled back at him and the fool starts laughing up real hard in my head.

She held my hand and lead me through the woods into where the baby was I was surprised to see Oliver sleeping on the floor and aunty Grace carrying my baby.

“Good evening alpha,” Grace greeted while bowing her head respectively as soon as she saw me. Deep within me, I was pleased to see her again.

“Good evening Grace, it's good to see that you are alright,” I said to her while smiling at her friendly.

Ashley walked over to where Grace stood and took the baby from her to hand over to me.

As soon as I held the child I felt connected to him, it was like I have known him all my life.

“He has your birthmark," Ashley said as she pulled the cloth a little for me to see our family's birthmark.

“I am speechless, thank you, you have no idea how happy I am right now, I love you so much,” I said to Ashley as I pulled her close to me for a hug.

But I noticed she was feeling shy and that made me remember that Grace who has been pretending to be looking away was still there.

“Uncle Alex!” Oliver who just woke up screamed as she ran toward me for a hug.

“Oliver!” I screamed as I openly welcome my little niece with a broad smile.

I held my baby in one hand and carried Oliver in with the other.

“Look at you, you have grown bigger and prettier,” I said to her while she clenched her hands around my neck.

“People are heading in our direction,” Ashley said in a panic as she placed her hand on the floor as if trying to listen to sounds.

I looked at her wondering where she was hearing the sound as the whole seem quite.

“They are walking quietly towards us, about twenty of them, what should we do?” She asked in a panic.
