The rogues were super fast and if I were to give in to their super speed capability, I will be probably dead by now.

But if they think they are going to get a free meal without first working for it then, they are in for a shocker.

The rogues were gaining fast on me which made me start pushing my arms back and forth, jumping over fallen trees, dodging insects, and pumping my legs as fast as they could go.

I guess the saying it's true that no matter how much you think you have failed, when faced with death, then the will to survive becomes even stronger.

I ran and kept running till the trees passed me as flashes, and the steady galloping sound of the rogues is heard around me.

It was almost as if they were everywhere.

My backpack was seriously weighing me down and at some point, I wanted to take it off, but when I thought of how stranded I will be, I changed my mind and continued running with my bag still strapped to my back.

I knew I had to try to get as far away from them as I could. My heart was panting furiously as I kept pushing myself to the limit.

I didn't want to give up just like that, I needed to tell myself that I have indeed done my best.

But for every step I took further away from them, the more I could hear them closer than before.

My life flashed before my eyes as all the pains and agony I have been through weakened my body.

Maybe I should just give up, but then again Alex's voice came up in my head.

Just to let know what you will be missing if you decide to give up out there.

What did he mean by that? Does he enjoy kissing me as much as I love being held by him?

What if he truly loves me, will I ever get to see that? Life may have been crazy, tough, and rough but I don't want to die.

What did I do to warrant this type of pain, did I ask to be born, will there be light at the end of my tunnel, or will the darkness kill my sight of the light ahead of me.

A sudden forceful smash on my face, almost had me completely blind. I stumbled and fall flat on the ground. They got me, they finally have me.

Tears flowed freely from my eyes as I had been hit by the leader of the group, They were all panting heavily as they shoot daggers at me with their eyes.

The paw with which he hit me gave me a cut across my face as warm tingling blood flowed down my cheeks.

“Please don't hurt me,” I pleaded with them while a stream of tears flowed down my face.

My heart was pounding and my head spinning.

“Oh by the time we are done with you, you will beg us to kill you,” the gang leader said to me angrily.

I felt this was the end as there would be no one to save me now.  I tried getting up but it seems that I have gotten some broken joints as pains shoot through my whole body.

“Bring her to me,” the leader commanded the others with him and I closed my eyes preparing myself for the worst to happen.

But that same moment, I heard it, it was  like a little whisper from the wind I heard it say,

you are far stronger than you know Ashley. Command the earth and it with the fight for you, talk to the woods and they will stand with you, talk to the clouds and they will echo your name.

Just then, as if I was been possessed by a different force. I stood up from where I was, no longer feeling any pain as I felt electric waves connecting with every part of my body.

It was as if I was been charged from an unknown source.

My new disposition frightened the rogues but not the leader who seem adamant about wanting to get me.

I could feel a different much more powerful energy around me and the feeling was overwhelming.

I stretched my right hand and a blast erupted from it, the blast was so strong, that it sent the wolves flying against the trees, which resulted in them having broken bones in various parts of their body.

I subconsciously looked at my hand and wondered what the hell just happened.

The wolves struggle to get on their feet, looking terrified as they stare at me in total awe.

“How did she do that?”

“Is She a witch,”

“Let's go before she kills us,” and within seconds they all scampered away holding various parts of their body.

Slowly a whirlwind started gathering around me and I was surprised at the beautiful sight even though I knew that such a sight would have made me scared on a normal day.

But today is no ordinary day, it is a day a wolfless slave girl chased wolves and they ran for their dear lives.

Sleep, we will protect you, the wind whispers.

I brought out my blanket and made a sleeping space, in the middle of a whirlwind. After which I coiled myself up into a sleeping position.

My mind went back to Jessica and wondered where she would be, she may be halfway back to the pack.

The fact that she might go straight to Alex and pretend to him made me sad.

Slowly my eyelids started getting heavier and within minutes I was fully asleep.

Jessica

I have been walking for hours but it feels like I have been walking in circles.

I planned to get away from the forest and move closer to the pack so that by daybreak I should be back home.

But it seems to me that the woods have rearranged themselves. I know these woods like the back of my hands, but I just don't get why it's now difficult for me to get the right direction.

I thought about the slave girl and the rogues, I am certain that, that by the time those rogues are done with her, what would be remaining would be bones and scraps.

It's a good thing that those rogues came in at the right time, the person I had earlier contacted to come to kill the slave girl didn't show up.

I had contacted my long-time friend Amber to come to kill the slave. I wonder why she didn't come since she was well paid for the job, I will make sure I get back everything I had given her as soon as I return to the pack.

I had the plan to give myself a few scratches before getting to the pack, that way, they would think that I did my best in trying to save the slave.

And who knows, I might even earn Alex's affection.

I looked around where I was standing, the entire place seem to look the same. Maybe I will just sleep out this night and tomorrow morning when I can see the woods better I would be able to find my way.

I dropped my bag and brought out a blanket to spread under a huge tree. But as soon as I spread the blanket on the floor, a thunderous earthquake scattered through the sky.

And within minutes it started pouring down heavily, the rain was so heavy that within seconds I was drenched along with my backpack.

Suddenly the rain stopped and the heavy wind started blowing through the woods, I was shivering and my teeth were gnashing due to the cold.

This sudden weather change baffled me as we were still in summer and only occasionally do we have rainfall.

And the rain most times is usually very light drizzling.

With little or no clothes to warm me, I squatted in a folded position to keep myself from freezing to death.

I don't mind this suffering, what matters to me is that by tomorrow there will be no slave girl competing for the luna position with me. And even if Alex still does not pick me as his luna, Derrick would.
