Chapter 54: Chapter 54

I laughed again as I glanced at Jake, "Of course, I will since you're mine now."

"And you're mine too. No guy should even think of coming close to you, especially not Kane." He said in a firm voice.

"They wouldn't dream of it when you look so intimidating with your bad ass tattoos and piercings." I said as I started walking towards him with the white bag in my hand. I have to say that I was enjoying how he was being possessive of me. It showed that he cared for me and that made him even hotter.

He smirked as he said, "Good, that should keep them away."

I stopped when I reached him, "I'll shower and after, we can get breakfast to eat on the road since we want to return home early."

He nodded as his smirk turned to a smile, "Yeah, I've already talked to the others and they're getting ready, but I didn't want to wake you up."

"Aw, babe. That's so sweet of you, thanks." I said as I raised up on the tips of my toes and pecked his cheek.

I pulled back to see his heated gaze on my lips, and I would love to make out, but I was just waking up. That meant I looked like a mess, plus I haven't brushed my teeth yet. I stepped to the side and walked past him to the bathroom. As I walked in, I turned around and closed the door.

I glanced towards the soap, shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrush that they left for each room in the motel. The toothbrushes were two, but everything was one. I made my way to the shower to start showering and getting ready.

After I was done showering and dressing in the new clothes, I walked out of the bathroom with yesterday's clothes inside the bag in my hand. Jake was sitting on the bed as he scrolled through his phone. He looked up when he heard me close the bathroom's door. He stood up and placed his phone in his pocket as his lips tugged up in a small smile.

Striding to me, he asked, "Hey, you ready?"

"Yeah." I replied as I smiled back at him. "Let me grab my phone."

"Okay." Jake replied as I walked towards the bedside table where I left it.

I picked it up as soon as I reached it and turned back around to see Jake had picked up his bag of yesterday's clothes. He was standing on the way to the door as he waited for me. I walked towards the door and he walked towards it too. He reached it first and opened the door for me to pass.

I walked out of the room and he followed after me, closing the door behind him. I saw Jane, Shane, Sean and Leo waiting for us outside the room. They all looked up when they heard us walk out. Jane smiled as she teased, "About time you guys came out."

It was refreshing to see her being so carefree again. Guess the tension from yesterday has worn off. I could see that she and Shane were standing close to each other, and they both looked happy. They probably also felt the pull of the mate bond last night as Jake and I did. But did they act on it?

Sean chuckled as he also teased, "Yeah, what were you guys doing in there for so long?"

"What do you think?" Jake asked with a smirk on his face as we all started walking towards the stairs.

"Leo's little mind can't take what I think." Sean joked and Shane shook his head as he laughed while Leo only frowned at Sean.

"I guess you're already over the fact that Abbey's your mate." Shane said and Sean let out a long sigh as we all glanced at him, waiting for his answer.

"Yeah, what can I do? She's not even a werewolf yet, and probably wouldn't even feel the mate bond. I'll just go about with my life until the day she becomes a werewolf."

"What if you feel too attracted to her to wait?" I asked as I glanced at him and as we made our way down the stairs. "I mean, you'll probably feel drawn to her and I think that's what happened with Jake and I after we turned to werewolves."

Jake glanced at me with a small pout, making my eyes go to his lips and lip ring. "Yeah, that's what happened, but I already started developing feelings for you before then."

I moved my eyes to his as we reached the last step, "I know, babe and so did I. Was only trying to make a point."

"If I start feeling attracted to her then I would find a way to be with her and get her to be a better person, not just a b*tchy bimbo that follows Stephanie around." Sean replied to my question as we reached the front desk.

"That will be hard to do, but let's leave all that until we reach town." Jake said and turned to the receptionist who put on her fake smile when she saw us.

"Okay." Sean replied as Jake handed our room's keys to the receptionist, and she took it.

"Here." He said, and that made Shane and Jane pull out their own room keys to pass to her.

She took theirs too and said, "I hope that you enjoyed your stay here. Come back soon."

"We did, thank you." I replied as Jake nodded at her.

We all turned around and started making our way out of the motel. As we walked out through the glass double doors and to the parking lot, Leo turned to me while Shane and Jane whispered between themselves. "Max, I have not had the chance to ask how you are today as your guardian. How are you?"

I chuckled at how cute he was being, "I am fine, Leo. Thanks for asking, and I hope that you are fine as well."

Leo grinned, "Yes, I am, dear Max."

Jake looked at me then at Leo with his brows furrowed in annoyance and jealousy, "Dear Max? Back off, Leo, Max is mine."

I looked at Jake, knowing that he was acting more possessive than usual because he had marked me. I gave him a reassuring smile as I said, "Relax, babe. He's just a kid."

Jake shook his head as he said, "No, he's not. He's a shifter and he can shift into any human age including shifting into a man."
