Chapter 49: Chapter 49

We all climbed out of the car including Leo and closed each of our doors. Jake pressed the key and the car sounded as the doors locked. He walked around the car to me as he placed his car keys inside his pocket. He placed an arm over my shoulder as he reached me.

The others walked beside us with Sean and Leo on Jake's side, Jane on my side with Shane beside her. As we entered through the motel's glass double doors, we saw the female receptionist at the front, wearing a suit uniform. She smiled a tired and fake smile when she saw us, "Hello, welcome to Crystal. Which rooms would you like to book?"

We stopped in front of the desk and Jake said, "Are rooms one to three booked?"

"Yes, Sir, but we have rooms ten to thirty unbooked." The receptionist replied with her fake smile.

"Alright, we will have rooms fifteen to seventeen." He replied, and she smiled wider.

"That will be $90 per night for the three rooms."

Jake took his arm from around my shoulders and placed his hand in his pocket to bring out his wallet. As he opened his wallet, Sean and Shane protested. Sean shook his head, "Leave it, man, I can pay for myself."

Shane nodded in agreement, "Yeah, Jake. You don't need to pay for us."

Jake looked at them with a smirk, "I know that, but I want to. It's no big deal, the money's not that much."

"Alright, thanks." Shane said, and Sean added with a smile, "We're lucky to have you, man."

"Yes, you are." Jake said with just enough confidence that had us all laughing including Jane and Leo while the receptionist stared at us with a confused expression.

Jake flicked out $100 and passed it to the receptionist. She collected it and opened the register to bring out a $10 bill as his change. He took it from her, and she turned around to walk to the wall behind her where several keys were kept. The keys were in rows and numbered from one to thirty which I guessed was the total number of rooms in the motel.

She took out the keys that were numbered fifteen, sixteen and seventeen then turned around and stretched her hand towards us. Jake took the keys from her then passed Sean and Shane each one. They took it from him while Jane and I stared at Jake in question, but Leo looked oblivious to what was going on.

When he saw our stare, he explained, "I thought that since we're many, we should split up into two for each room. You know, you with me, Jane with Shane, and Sean with Leo."

"What? I can't share a room with Shane." Jane muttered as a frown settled on her face.

"And I don't think that you and I should share a room either." I said, agreeing with Jane.

Jake smiled as he took my hand, "Baby doll, it's for us to get closer as mates, and for Jane to sort out her problems with Shane."

I shook my head, "I get the Jane sort out her problems with Shane part, but you and I may not be able to keep our hands to ourselves, most especially you."

Jake chuckled and Sean did as well, he moved closer to me as he said, "I promise you that I wouldn't do anything that you don't want me to. But we need to be alone and talk things out."

I looked at him with both eyebrows raised before I nodded, "Fine, but we'll not be sleeping on the same bed."

"Fine with me, baby doll." Jake replied with a smile stretching on his lips.

"But it's not fine with me 'cause, Shane, I'm sorry, but I don't want to share a room with you when I haven't even broken up with Drake yet." Jane piped up as she looked from us to Shane.

"I understand what you mean, and I'll do as you wish, Jane." Shane said very gently as he always was, and how he replied seemed to have affected Jane positively.

Her expression softened as she said, "Okay, but we do need to talk things out too. We can do that and then go to our respective rooms."

Shane nodded, "Alright, I'm guessing that it means that you'll be sharing a room with little Leo?"

"Yeah since he's a kid even though he's not entirely human, but he'll be sleeping on the floor." She replied as she glanced at Leo.

He smiled and said in his little voice, "That is alright with me."

I couldn't help, but find him so cute as I watched him reply, but also noticed how Sean has been quiet which h was unlike him. I looked over at Jake and the others as I said, "Alright, guys. Let's go, it's getting late and I'm already dead tired."

"Yes, my Luna." Jake replied as he grinned at me and started pulling me towards the stairs beside the receptionist's desk.

I chuckled at his response, and looked back to see Leo running after us on his little legs, Sean walking with Shane and Jane after us. But Jane and Shane looked awkward as they made their way up the stairs while Sean looked like he was lost in his thoughts.

I turned back around as we reached the second floor. That was when I realized that there was no elevator in the motel, and that was why Jake pulled me up the stairs. It did look old and worn out, but I hoped that the rooms and bathrooms would be clean at least.

Rooms lined both left and right sides of the wall. We passed the rooms as we all checked each room's number on the door. We finally reached rooms fifteen, sixteen and seventeen. Jake glanced at the others as we stopped in front of room fifteen.

"This is good night for us, we'll see you guys tomorrow." He said to them and they all nodded.

"Good night, Jake and Max." Leo said in his little, cute voice.

"Night, you two!" Jane said as she gave me a teasing smile.

"Good night." Shane said, and Sean added, "Good night, you two and have fun mating!"

Jake and I laughed at Sean's statement, and I said as soon as our laughter died down, "God, Sean! Get your mind out of the gutter."

Sean only laughed then opened room sixteen with his keys and walked in. Leo seemed oblivious to what was funny which only made him look even more adorable. But he followed Sean inside room sixteen since they had to let Shane and Jane have some time alone to talk.

Jake placed his own keys in the keyhole of room fifteen and pushed it open. He talked in and I walked in after him, closing the door behind me. He switched on the lights by pressing the button on the wall beside the door. Light flooded the dark room and a twin sized bed came into view with white bedsheets.

There were bedside drawers beside it and a lamp on the one closest to the door. A small dresser was opposite the door and a set of drawers was beside it. Another door was adjacent to the door. I have to say that it was better than I expected.

Jake walked over to the bed and sat down. He glanced at me with a small smile as he patted the space beside him. "It's time for us to talk things out, baby doll."

I smiled as I walked over to sit beside him. He glanced at me as he took in a deep breath and released it. "So we're mates."

I looked at him and repeated, "We're mates."

"I have thought of my future with you since I realized that I was falling for you." Jake started, and I felt surprised because I didn't even think of us being together for a longer time than high school. Did that mean that he was truly in love with me that he saw his future together with me?

He continued, not knowing what was going on in my head, "And now that we're werewolves and mates, it has been set in stone that we will be together forever."

His last words made my lips stretch into a large smile. Together forever. That the as very reassuring, that is if Kane or whatever that shadow was that I saw try to tear us apart. I nodded at him, "Yeah, and that means we have to plan our future together."

"Yes, and that means that we have to mate and I have to mark you." He said as he held my gaze, making sure that I knew what he meant.

"I know, but I'm not ready for that right now. I want to us to wait for the mating, but for the marking, we can do it soon. 'Cause I can't have other shewolves drooling after you."

He chuckled, "Is my baby doll jealous that other girls are all over me?"

I raised one eyebrow as I smirked, "I have every right to be, and I'm sure that you will want other hewolves to know that I'm yours too."

Jake's expression darkened as he said, "They shouldn't dare try to make a move on you unless they want to die."

I laughed at how serious and jealous he looked. Even though I have shown my possessiveness towards him many times, it was clear that he was far more possessive of me. He raised an eyebrow in question at my laugh. "What's so funny?"

I raised my hand and pressed my index finger against his cheek as I said, "You, being so jelly."

He raised his own hand and took hold of my hand that was pressing against his cheek. He moved my fingers to his lips and pressed a kiss on them then interlaced our fingers as he placed our joined hands on his lap. "Like you said, I have every right to be 'jelly' as you've said."

I grinned, "I know and it's hot."

He chuckled again, "But you're hotter."

I smirked as I said, "I know."

That made him laugh, and he said, "That's my cocky, bad ass bad girl."

"I know that it's also the exact same answer that you will give."

"True, we're so alike."

I nodded, "Maybe, that's why we get along so well."

"Definitely one of the reasons." He said then his expression turned serious. "So I have been this about our life in the future throughout this road trip. I think that we should apply to the same College."

"You thought as far as then?" I asked, feeling truly surprised and that made me love him even more.

"Of course, I did, and I even thought of marriage, but I don't want you to feel pressured." He said, looking concerned.

My heart squeezed at how sweet he was being towards me. He was only sweet to me, my sweet bad ass bad boy. "That's very caring of you and I would love to be with you for so long as well. But we need to think of finding a way to get rid of Kane first and solve the issue of other supernaturals coming after us, or more specifically, me."

"And we will, but all these shouldn't stop us from moving on with our relationship and building a future together." He said so sincerely as he looked into my eyes. I could see the want and the need for us to be together in his eyes. But what he should have known was that he didn't need to worry because I have fallen for him and I couldn't stand to be apart from him.

"Okay, Jake. We won't let any of these obstacles get in the way of our relationship." I reassured him and added, "Besides, our dads know each other already. I'm sure that we can have a dinner together after dad returns from his trip."

Jake's lips lifted up into a large smile, "I would love that, Max."

"Me too."

He released my hand and stood up from the bed as he glanced at me still smiling, "Alright, I'll go freshen up before we sleep. Don't miss me too much."

I couldn't help, but keep smiling, "And if I do?"

He raised both brows in surprise that I actually went a step further and asked him that. "I don't know, what will you do?"
