Chapter 4: Chapter 4
Jake's POV
"So, what was the nickname you gave Cassie?" Max asked after the movie ended. She stood up and went to retrieve the disc from the CD player. We have both went to the kitchen and washed our hands after eating the pizza then returned back to finish the movie.
I brought my attention back to Max's question. I liked Cassie as a friend but it seemed like she wanted something more, and I definitely didn't want that.
"Clingy Cassie, and I only called her that twice." I held up two of my fingers. I had called her that because she had been so clingy after our one night stand. I didn't like clingy girls like Cassie, that was one of the reasons why I was interested in Max. She wasn't clingy, at all.
"Perfect nickname!" Max exclaimed and we both chuckled.
"Why is she so obsessed with you?" She asked sitting back down on the sofa after she had put the disc back in the drawer.
I wouldn't say obsessed but she acted as if she was. It only happened once, yet she was acting like it had been happening for years.
"I can't tell you that." I said watching as her brows furrowed as she folded her arms across her chest. That girl could not even be described, she was too beautiful. And she acted as if she didn't know how beautiful she was.
"What do you mean you can't?" She asked.
"You promised that you will tell me how you got into Kane's gang. Did you think I would forget, baby doll?" I smirked pinching her cheek, she slapped my hand away and my smirk grew wider. I had been thinking it over, trying to find the reason as to how and why she had gotten into the Drillers gang.
The gang was way too dangerous for her. Not that she was not tough, but what they did was too much, and she was too innocent for that. They tortured people for no right reason, then killed the lucky ones. That was why Kane was the leader, he didn't just show no mercy but he had none.
"I didn't promise you anything."

Max's POV
"But I will tell you since I said I would." I said after Jake raised an eyebrow at me. Even though it was my horrible secret, I knew I had to tell him. I had to let it out, let someone else know and not keep it bottled up.
I sighed before I began, "I wasn't always like this, tough I mean. I was once a very shy, and scared girl. I had been so afraid of the world, and the people in it.
I had met Kane in school, he just came up to me and started talking to me one day at my locker. He was my senior, and even my mates, I didn't interact with them. He had been the only one to notice me, the shy, quiet girl. I thought that he really liked me enough to talk to me but I was wrong."
"He approached you because he wanted to introduce you to his gang?" Jake asked with both eyebrows raised in question.
"Yes, he told me about his gang and asked me to join in after we had gotten to know each other more. I accepted his offer, of course, I couldn't say no to him. I was introduced into the gang, and a lot of illegal stuff. When Kane asked me to be his girlfriend, I was overjoyed. I never had anyone ask me that, I never even had anyone notice me before.
But when I became his girlfriend, that was when everything became hell. At first, he had been really sweet, buying me this and that, but then he started becoming violent. When I made a little mistake about something that was not even important, he would hit me."
I stopped to take a deep breath with all of the memories rushing back. I looked to Jake to see how he was taking the truth. His jaw kept clenching and unclenching, he seemed furious even more furious than the day we had first met. His brows were furrowed and his fists were tightly clenched on his lap.
"He apologized after he first did it, and said that he wouldn't do it again, but he did anyway. When the small slaps turned into full blows, I tried stopping him, but I was too afraid of him when he threatened to do worse. He started hitting me in front of other gang members, I thought that they would help me, but none tried. Some of them, both men and women had helped him beat me up.
They made me their personal punching bag, and their little b*tch. I had to run errands for them and if not, they would throw me in this 'hole' they called 'the torture hole'. It was very dark in there, and it is an underground cell. They would leave me there, in the tight space, alone with my thoughts for days."
By the time I had reached that part of the story, tears were running down my face. Jake moved closer to me wiping my tears away as his features softened. He wrapped his arms around me, and gently rubbed my back. I rested my head on his chest and continued crying, hugging him to me.
We stayed like that for some minutes before I pulled back, and wiped the tears from my face.
"I'm sorry I broke down like that." I apologized to Jake with his arms still around me.
"It's alright, you needed to let it out. I understand." He replied softly, moving his hands to my face and held it. I raisedmy hands and removed his hands from my face then moved back from him. What I went through was too much, and I didn't want to let another guy close to me again.
I breathed heavily and continued. "I got tired of their torture and decided to get out of there. I stopped fighting them and made them believe that I have given up. But I packed my clothes and tried slipping away in the night. Since they had trusted that I wouldn't try running, they had left the door unlocked."
